  1. This is the way Nova should be. His curveball is dropping in for strikes, he's working the sinker down in the zone and is throwing the 4 seamer up out of the zone. If he can get consistent with that, he will be a very solid starter
  2. The Yanks are making the playoffs this yr unless they have another big injury. And you always hate on Gardner. Since the end of April, he's hitting .320 with an OBP around .400. He's not the issue
  3. Carmona coming into the game had been the victim of bad luck. A WHIP of 1.26 and an ERA of 5.71 shows that. He would be a great buy low candidate. Regardless, we're a cold Yankee team with a rookie on the hill, and we've responded
  4. FINAL DRAFT RESULTS 1a- Dante Bichette Jr. 3b, Orangewood Christian HS, FL 2- Sam Stafford LHP, U Texas- will get comp pick next yr 3. Jordan Cote RHP, Winnisquam HS, NH 4. 5. The Yanks seem to make big moves when embarassed during the season. I have a feeling this season ends poorly, and the Yanks will make a big splash
  6. 3-0 Yanks. Looks like this team is coming to life after being dead, cremated and tossed out into the ocean in the last series
  7. I would also keep the Yankee name out there for Pujols, should he not resign with StL. The Yankees have an open RF spot, which could be accomodated by moving Gardner or Granderson there while allowing Pujols to move to LF, a position he has played in the past. It's not all that far fetched either with the Yankees losing over $20 million annually with Posada and Swisher probably not being here next yr and the DH spot being filled internally by a slew of guys.
  8. Martin out for the 3rd straight game. Another Cervelli shitfest on tap for tonight. Why the f*** dont we have a third catcher up for even one game?
  9. It loses its luster a bit now that Derek is an absolute shell of himself. Love the guy, love what he stood for and his leadership, but this should be his last season. The thought of him languishing for another 2-3 yrs after this one hurts to think about. Kinda like how Ripken held out and was a battered old man who couldnt move in the end.
  10. Been going through BA and scout.com as well as an Oppenheimer interview to compile this. 1a- Dante Bichette Jr. 3b, Orangewood Christian HS, FL 3b, Solid frame, high power potential. Still somewhat raw. Unsure about his current position, may be an OFer. Professional hitter already, solid work ethic. Ceiling is a middle of the order bat with a marginal glove 2- Sam Stafford LHP, U Texas Big framed lefty capable of throwing mid to high 90s. Been used out of the pen for Texas. Has a dynamite combo of FB/curve. FB location spotty at times. Needs to learn a change to be a starter. Ceiling seems to be limited by change. If he doesn’t throw one, he has the stuff to close. If the Yanks can teach him one, he could be an ace 3. Jordan Cote RHP, Winnisquam HS, NH Huge bodied RHP from the Northeast. Velocity creeping into the low 90s for an 18 yr old. Has a projectable but inconsistent curve. Mechanics need tweaking. Lots of projection here with a good frame. Needs to work on his changeup as he didn’t need it in the northeast. Has a lot of room between his current and his ceiling, but if he can continue to add on velocity and can tack down a change and his mechanics, he could be a top of the rotation starter. But he seems ticketed for the short season leagues for 2 seasons at least 4. Matthew Duran 3b, New Rochelle HS, NY Big bodied corner IFer. Not as much power potential as Bichette, but 20+HR potential is there. Expected to be a solid hitter. May end up as a 1b as glove is marginal. Swing is fluid, good mechanics and good loft. Approach is advanced for his age. 5. Gregory Bird C/3b, Grandview HS, CO Big time power potential. Bat is very advanced for his age. Defensive issues likely to be a problem. Currently a catcher, needs work in all phases of defense. Might end up as a 3b or a 1b. Will earn his paycheck with his bat. 6. Jake Cove CF, Kecoughtan HS, VA High end draft pick. 5 tool player with 60 speed and 20HR power potential. Plays aggressively in CF, has a rocket arm that is also accurate. Will be a 7 figure signee and reminds me a lot of Slade Heathcott. Best athlete in our draft class 7. Austin Jones 1B, Edmonds Woodway HS, WA “Bubba” Jones’ game is similar to what you’d expect from his name. Big, strong 1b with easy power and good mechanics. Professional approach for an 18 yr old. Played catcher and 1b in HS, but will be a 1b/OF in the Yankee system. The 4th guy in 7 picks whose money will be made on the power side of things. This guy has Bichette type power potential. Will not be an easy sign 8. Phil Wetherell RHP, Western Kentucky U One of the many college power relievers drafted by NY this yr. Throws an easy mid 90s fastball with a plus splitter. No tertiary pitch around. Remains to be seen if the Yanks will go the Nuding route with him and try to convert to rotation or leave him as is. 9. Zachary Arneson RHP, Lewis-Clarke State U Another college power arm. Throws 2 pitches, a mid 90s heater and a 88-90mph cutter. Not enough of a velocity difference, will need another pitch to be an effective big league pitcher. A project with a golden arm, will see how the Yanks develop him 10. Jonathan Gray RHP, Eastern Okla St. JuCo Big kid, throws mid 90s, capable of hitting 98mph. Has a nice slider and a workable changeup. Will be a tough sign out of a JuCo, but seems more advanced than picks #8 and 9.
  11. I have a feeling we might be in on CJ Wilson this offseason. His conversion to the rotation couldnt have been smoother, and this yr, his K's are up, his walks are down and all of his peripherals are improved. He might be the next 5 yr 90 mil pitcher out there. And with Burnett entering the 4th yr of his 5 yr deal and the rest of the rotation wide open, we might need to make that move
  12. The bullpen was expertly constructed. The fact that they had the lowest ERA in the AL through 2 months while missing one of the best relievers in the game is absurd. I dont fault them there. In retrospect, I thought Lee would chase the most dollars and go to NY. Now that we have seen that isnt the case, I think we should have been in on Haren. Regardless, there will be deals, but I would almost rather we hold pat, bring up some rooks, see what they can do and reload in the offseason
  13. I hope the sox score 10 more runs this inning. We need to get this piece of suck off the team (Marquez) and we need to fire our manager.
  14. Even non-elite teams can steal one game from an elite team at home.
  15. See, this used to get under my skin. But the great thing about it is, at the end of the day, I am still a doc. It's nice to be me. Well, except for the fact that I am a Yankee fan and my team just smoked a full bag of cocks and even nestled the testes gently.
  16. Regardless, if this series gets Girardi off the team, then I am on board with a sweep. What a useless manager. Seriously, how the hell do you have your team come out flat for 6 straight games against your biggest rivals at home. That is a joke.
  17. Apparently your reading comprehension is way off. I am shocked that you are in high school yet cannot read English. Another reason why America's schools are failing. He wasnt sharp in the first. He wasnt sharp until after the bases loaded inning when Cano flailed at the first pitch. After that he settled down. If an offense gives you chance after chance to work out of it, you eventually find it.
  18. ARod is gonna hit a garbage time HR here
  19. Okay, time to work out.
  20. He'll chase the money. I just hope we avoid the temptation. This has all the makings of a contract yr push
  21. He'll look great in pinstripes next yr, until his fat ass remembers he's in his mid 30s. I see it now. Yanks sign Ortiz to 3 yr $45 million contract and he hits .230 with 10HRs annually over the life of the deal
