  1. Yeah, I would take the bottom left third and go into Hartford. East or North of Hartford is sox territory, but really the only CT city that is true blue sox fans would be Manchester, and that is barely a city. I grew up right outside of Waterbury, and 80-90% of fans there are Yankee fans with the rest split between Mets and Sox
  2. Because there is a large population there in nice weather all year round. The problem is, with nice weather all the time and being full of transplants or the elderly, they dont really have the wear-with-all to stick to one team. If the Marlins go belly-up, then the fans in Miami could just hit the beach or bang some dirty sluts.
  3. oh, and Florida should be 2/3 yankees and 1/3 red sox territory with a dot around each stadium representing the Marlins and Rays
  4. typically responding when the admin tells you to stop, then slighting the admin after continuing to fan the flames is not adviseable. I wont tell you to stop, but I have a feeling a vacation is in the works for you
  5. the writers will do what they do with Bonds. Bonds will be the precedent. Both of these guys didnt need roids to be HOFers.
  6. Suns, they were being generous. The original map had cleveland territory being a giant smoldering lake with all 29 other teams pissing into it
  7. There are markets that would eat up a baseball team. The problem is, there are already teams in those markets. Boston could support a second team. And NY could support a third team. And what about Dallas? And I bet a NJ team would do pretty well also.
  8. Bichette Jr. taking a physical today in Tampa. Signing could come by midweek.
  9. I agree wholeheartedly. I think the point of having the divisions is to reign in the markets from all aspects of the country for the playoffs. But it destroys parity in the game. I have personally become bored with the 18-19 games per yr vs the sox. Why do the AL Central teams get to feast on the s*** of the division 18-19 times while we get them what, 8-9 times? I'd love to face KC or Cleveland more times than the sox. Only 4 teams are needed, even out the entire playing schedule. Make it so every team plays every team if you are going to do the interleague thing. And then even out the rest of the games vs the league. It is the only way to do the right thing here. And think about it, how amazing is it that the Yankees and sox have essentially been perennial playoff teams while having to go through the toughest division in baseball on a yearly basis?
  10. Regardless, ARod will end up with another 30HR 100+RBI season barring major injury. You cannot argue with that production. The contract is obscene and will always be, even if he hit .350 with 50 bombs every yr. There is no way to justify it
  11. you're .100 too high
  12. at best, we've broken even with his contract, but he's been on the team now for 7 yrs now, he's no longer a novelty.
  13. Josh Tomlin has been a quality pitcher this yr. Regardless, he's better than any of you are giving credit for and it pains you to eat the crow/evidence
  14. Brett Gardner went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, a triple, and 3 runs scored today. OPS up to .770.
  15. I like this idea. I'd standardize everything. It is just not fair for a WC team trying to come out of the ALE when 38 of their games are vs the sox and yanks. Standardize everything, even the playing field and go from there
  16. Right now the sox offense is unconscious. They will come back down to earth and within the next week people will be complaining about it again
  17. Ah, you are right. I forgot his first season consisted of only 33 games
  18. Also, if Ellsbury shows that his power this yr is no fluke and puts up 15-20HR for 2011 and 2012, he might be looking at a Crawford-esque payday
  19. Gardner has improved on his rate since the beginning of the yr. He was 5 for 11, since then he's 8 for 9. Regardless, the metrics show that he's terrific defensively and above average offensively. He will never hit for power. His worth will be generated by his OBP, his SBs and his defensive ability. And since the end of April, he's figured it out
  20. Gardner is a VASTLY underrated player. And if he moved to his natural position, he'd rate even higher. Since April, he's hitting .305/.381/.381 with 9 steals. Sounds like a guy we should shitcan.
  21. Getting Colon for peanuts and having him work out is fortunate. The way he is throwing, the results have been earned through good stuff and location rather than luck. Garcia is doing this with smoke and mirrors. His results thus far have been pretty lucky. Regardless, I think Noesi moves into the rotation for 2-3 turns with Colon out, and I think he will do very well. We have a lot of good pitching prospects ready to contribute.
  22. I find it interesting that any team would start Jo Jo Reyes. The guy literally didnt win over a span of a full season. 27 straight starts without a win. At that point, you just take your glove and go home
  23. We had the SATs, they were a joke
