  1. Nova gets into and out of trouble in the first. We need him to throw more worm burners than high fastballs. When that 2 seamer is down, he is unhittable. When he tries to go up with the heat without setting it up first, he gets burned
  2. Jairo Heredia is back. After being injured in 2009 and being ineffective in 2010, Heredia's fastball velocity and command are back. He strained his shoulder in 09 and lost about 5mph of velocity in 2010. This yr, he's back to the 90-92mph range and showing good movement and location. His numbers speak for themselves... 7-1 3.36ERA 1.04WHIP 9.4K/9IP 5.9K/BB. The kid has been even better over his last 5 games, 32IP 24H 4ER 4BB 37K. This kid looks the part of a mid season callup. And even with 2 lost yrs, he's still only 21 yrs old
  3. .800+OPS for a guy who hit under .200 for 40% of the season thus far. The kid is good. Admit it
  4. Reyes is a SS who is leading the league in hitting, has improved his D dramatically, and is a gamechanger on the bases. The guy is gonna net a TON of value back to the Mets. You have to assume that the Mets want to get a better return then 2 picks in the top 50 in next yrs draft.
  5. I find it interesting that the guy on the board who downplays prospects (a700) is considering Iggy the sox future SS without a fight. The guy is hitting .230 with a .509OPS right now. His "good season" in AA last yr saw an OPS under .700. The guy has proven nothing offensively
  6. The guy was hurt towards the end of last season, hence why he swooned, and he started the yr with one rough month. Since then, the guy has been dynamite.
  7. Yanks won, Burnett was passable and the offense did just enough. Nunez looks the part, but he needs to get more consistent with the routine plays before he can be a starter
  8. Gammons wrote the article. The likelihood of accuracy is less than a coin flip
  9. Crawford's game is predicated on speed. If the legs are weak, he's useless. He will likely need at least 5-7 days off
  10. Yankees sign top pick Dante Bichette Jr.
  11. 2 hit shutout thus far against Doug f***ing Davis. Are you s***ing me?
  12. The Yankees are playing like dogshit today. 6 shutout innings from a garbage pitcher like Davis
  13. another missile hit, another great IF play. Jesus, no luck this afternoon
  14. How many times can we blow scoring opportunities
  15. Gordon reminds me of Darrell Rasner. Deep arsenal of average to below average pitches and completely dependent on command. Today, he's actually commanded well sans the 2 HBPs. Texas has gotten 6 hits, but they havent been able to square any of them up and hit them hard. Most of their hits have been off off-speed pitches out of the zone that they are flipping over 2b or 3b. Regardless, he seems like a good guy as a fill-in, but he isnt in the Yankees future, IMO
  16. Andrew Miller agreed not to opt out and is expected to join Boston's rotation
  17. There's a difference between who you think will win and who you want to win. Gun to my head, family on the line, I think the Sox and Phils match up in the WS. But I would love to see the Yankees win it obviously
  18. BTW, ESPN radio mentioned that Jesus Montero and Ramiro Pena are at Yankee Stadium tonight. Martin is out again with a back issue and the Yanks are pretty sure that Jeter will need the DL. Why they dont just DL them both is beyond me. Nunez can handle SS if given regular PT and Martin has been useless for the past month plus, and especially useless when he tried to play through the back pain. Neither of them are hitting well right now, some rest might benefit them both. The only downside for Martin is that he might become Wally Pipp. If Montero comes up and smashes the ball, Martin may never see the field with regularity again
  19. suns, the Tribe are done
  20. Hughes threw 49 pitches in a rehab start today. FB sitting 91-93mph. That's a good sign
  21. 7 guys on base in the first 3 innings and we couldnt score. We dont deserve to win, although Burnett was awesome
