  1. If he wasnt a signability guy, he might do better going back to school. 23rd rounders are disposable, even if they dominate. One of my teammates got drafted by the DBacks in the 25th round or so. He won the rookie league's triple crown that year, and had a career BA of .320 with an OPS over .900. But he was cut 2 yrs later when he didnt get promoted out of the short season leagues. He said it was his lack of a position
  2. dont worry, Swish will K
  3. Neither were intentional, but Martin didnt leave the game in a heap. Regardless, Tex is our best hitter. Lester took him out, albeit unintentionally, someone is getting drilled. There is no reasoning with it. It's how baseball is.
  4. better f***ing believe it. 97 right at AdGon's spine sounds about right
  5. My guess is that the Yanks will hit one of your players and the teams will be warned, then that will be the end of it tonight
  6. It's gonna be a long night because Freddy Garcia might allow 10 runs in 3 innings. We got bad Freddy tonight
  7. My guess is that Tex actually injured himself more on his reaction than where he was hit. He hyperextended his knee, which is where I think his real injury will be
  8. I dont really care about intent. You take out our best hitter, your best hitter gets taken out. It's the way the game is
  9. Just got some info on Hayden Sharpe, our 18th round HSer. He has a dual commit for football and baseball, and was used primarily as a reliever. He is huge framed and can run the ball up there 97-98mph as an 18 yr old. He's a project, though, as he's always been a two sport athlete and will likely come with a high bonus demand, but he sounds exactly like the kind of player we should be getting late.
  10. Well, Lester takes out our best hitter. I'd definitely wait until someone with velocity comes in the game, but it might be time to headhunt some Adrian!
  11. 22nd rounder Nick Goody, RHP, State Coll of FLA
  12. 21st rounder, Zach Wilson, 3b, ASU
  13. 18th rounder Hayden Sharpe RHP, Morris HS in Oklahoma. Huge framed pitched 19th rounder Robert Poullus, RHP Memphis University 20th rounder Daniel Camarena, LHP, Cathedral Catholic HS, CA
  14. 17th rounder Mathew Troupe, Chaminade HS in CA. RHP, small frame will be back. gotta mow the lawn
  15. 16th rounder Brandon Pinder, RHP Long Beach St.
  16. Zambrano is someone I would be in on, and I wouldnt hesitate with Gardner leading the package, but if we eat a lot of money, they get almost nothing else of value
  17. I've been a little busy. And I didnt do the reading I typically do before the draft. So this yr, I am relying on being reactive rather than proactive
  18. 15th rounder Tyler Molinaro RF Pitt CC in NC
  19. William "Rookie" Davis, P/1B, Dixon HS, Holly Ridge, N.C. Yankees 14th rounder If you like Cron, it is likely you would like Davis. He is 6’5, 230 LBS and reportedly doesn’t shave yet, so there could be more growth on its way. That kind of scares me if it’s true, medically, and for hitters and opposing pitchers. He has huge power from the right side and sticks with the power game on the mound. He throws in the low 90’s and has a very good breaking ball. He could be a work horse on the mound or a big hitting 1B. He’s not a polished player and he has faced inferior talent in high school so he could be a bust but he could be under the radar as well. He is going to demand a lot to sign http://www.mlbbonusbaby.com/2011/5/24/2187046/draft-notes-5-23-11
  20. Just saw a post from Frankie Piliere. Cave is a big time prospect who's signing number was around $1.5 million. He is shocked he fell to the 6th round, but he did predict the Yanks would take him
  21. 14th rounder William Davis, RHP from Dixon HS in Texas. Big framed kid, probably a signability case
  22. 13th rounder Justin James, Sacramento CC, LFer This is around the time teams fill their rosters. My guess is this is not a signability case, but who knows edit: Actually, sounds like this guy is a work in progress. Didnt even play baseball his senior yr in HS, oldest son of Dion James, and walked onto a powerful JuCo to be one of their better players. Should be an interesting guy, but definitely will need work. He's got 5 tool potential but a low likelihood of reaching it
  23. Had to change the diaper. Baby is sound asleep now... 11th rounder Mark Montgomery RHP Longwood U. Kid throws smoke as well. ANOTHER college reliever. Sits 95mph with a wipeout slider. 12th rounder Cody Grice, no info as of now
  24. BTW, I like the Yankees draft. I may be in the minority, but Bichette looks like a good pick. Frankie Piliere, who actually scouted him, considers his bat to be around a 50 and power around a 70. Meaning he thinks he's a .270 30+ HR guy in the future who has also shown a professional eye. The Yankee system is seriously lacking in the power department aside from a few old prospects and Jesus Montero. They infused a lot of young power potential in last yr's draft, and this yr, they are doing the same. In the next 2-3 yrs, the Yankee power bats will be the next wave. In terms of the pitching, the Yankees continue to get big, hard throwing college relievers a la last season as well. It's a good philosophy, IMO, and thus far, none of the top 10 picks appear to just be fillers. Now, the unslotted madness begins, lets see who falls.
