  1. He had a very good outing. Sucks that today was a DH, though. Otherwise Aceves and Thornton wouldn't have been allowed to lose this game. There's still hope, though. Melamcon is their closer and he turtles at Yankee stadium
  2. I hope so. I just don't want another Tex scenario
  3. It's gonna take him 8 weeks to get back to full speed. Every day that passes is another day in July we lose him for
  4. So this Teixeira guy is hitting the f***ing s*** out of the ball.
  5. His production right now is insane. It doesn't match the SR, so it remains to be seen how he will look should he come up. That being said, it is curious that the sox haven't promoted him, right? I bet they are showcasing him and want to build his worth
  6. Through 217 MLB AB's, JBJ has a .198/.296/.318 triple slash line.
  7. You guys do understand that Lester is having a career season right now, right? If he stays on this pace, he will have a career low WHIP, ERA, K/9IP and BB/9IP, right? And he turns 31 before next yr, so he isn't exactly old. He's gonna get $25 mil per year on a 5 yr deal MINIMUM. If he gets a longer deal, the AAV will come down
  8. Beltran just needs to get the surgery and be an option for us for the stretch run. We've already learned our lesson in beating around the bush.
  9. Good to see Whitley give us a good, albeit short, debut. Looks like Girardi didn't really trust him with 2 runners on in the 5th. That being said, Whitley really is a stretched out reliever at this point anyway. But Dellin Betances was in f***ing beast mode. 6K covering 7 batters. 39K in 22.1IP or 15.7K/9IP. Insane
  10. He has an average FB? Did you watch the sports science bit about him? His FB spins faster than most, hence he creates upward lift which gives the illusion that it rises. It doesn't actually rise, but it drops less than the typical FB. Also, which fastball are you talking about? He can sink it, run it and cut it. He can throw it straight too.
  11. Tanaka is throwing that by design. His command is so good that once the hitters start laying off the lower half of the zone, he'll start dotting it with cheese and getting strikeouts. It looked like his primary K pitch last night wa a nasty slider anyway
  12. Dominance. CG Shutout for Tanaka. I saw a 4 seam FB, a 2 seam FB, a cutter, a slider, a curve, and a split tonight.
  13. Now we can just talk baseball in the city of Boston. This is good
  14. The thing I love about Tanaka is that he has the deep arsenal of DiceK (when he first showed up) but the confidence of a Cy Young winner and the command of Maddux. He has been awesome
  15. We've had a lot go wrong, but Tanaka has been worth his contract to this point. But we do have the AL's leading hitter at 3B in Solarte. He's been a nice surprise. Our offense, as weak as it may seem, is still the 10th best in baseball. Our problem has been that Pineda cannot stay on the field, Nova is done and CC cannot adjust
  16. WHIP, K/9IP and K/BB are the most important pitching stats, IMO. Which is so mind boggling as to how Phil Hughes managed to suck so much when he had all three in the plus column for us
  17. Peter O'Brien is cranking up the heat on the Yankee brass. He came in as a senior draftee and came in as a C. Because they wanted him to catch, he started in low A last yr and promoted late to High A. He started the yr in High A as a catcher, but they just scrapped that plan, moved him to RF (with a little 3B) and propelled him to AA. He's hit 14HR in 34 games and is probably on the fast track to the bigs. He doesn't have a lot of speed, but has a f***ing cannon, so he can hold his own in the OF.
  18. They had a nice stat. First time through, he allows a .272BAA with 18K/4BB. Second on he allows a .200BAA with 40K/3BB. Insane. He is the real f***ing deal
  19. A lot of younger viewers may not remember ARod's level of dominance. He was incredible in Seattle and Texas. He was good in 04, great from 05-09 and sucked since. Turns out, he cheated. But his numbers are amazingly good
  20. We could have done better. Jem was around my time as a kid.
  21. The pitching injuries have been too much to bear. We'd have been okay if CC and Kuroda pitched to a 4ERA or so and ate innings, but CC looks completely incapable of doing so. Kuroda has shown flashes, so I think he can do it. But losing Nova is big and then losing big Mike, especially with how he had broken out, is painful even more. I thought Nuno would hang in there, but after his last start, I don't know how you can throw him out there. Our best SP prospect isn't ready to handle a full game yet (Banuelos) and we're pretty thin in the upper ranks in terms of starters. I also have no f***ing idea why we keep throwing Thornton out there. The guy has been a complete disaster and we still use him every f***ing game. We just lost Kelley for a little while also. Right now it is Tanaka, Kuroda, and the merry band of cluster f***s. Add to that the fact that McCann has started slowly, Beltran is now injured, and our middle infield has been abysmal, and we're in trouble. But hey, looks like we might have found a diamond in the rough in Solarte
  22. No s***. He burns the good parts of our pen in games we are losing, then decides to throw Aceves and Thornton into the fire in a game we should have had in hand. What the f***?
  23. I am flat out f***ing embarrassed by this team right now. Score 7 runs against the f***ing Mets and you cannot close the deal? This is the second year in a row that a hot April turned into a s*** may. The second year in a row that we are getting snakebit by injuries. And now, we don't have a first round pick because we decided to sign old man Beltran. I like the McCann and Ells signings as I think they aren't likely to just implode. But Beltran has been a hot f***ing mess and is now injured. Also, Thornton is a lefty specialist ONLY. Why the f*** does Girardi love to throw him vs righties? Beyond frustrated by this f***ing team right now. Time to bring up Bleich to take over the lefty role in the pen and cut Thornton if Girardi keeps using him like this.
