  1. Chapman just cannot seem to locate right now
  2. You should be better than you are, let's be honest. That rotation and an overperforming pen and you should be light years ahead of NY and TB
  3. So removing a .401OBP and OPS of 1.021 isn't an issue? He elongated your lineup. He saw a ton of pitches. He reached base 40% of the time. Guys hitting in front of him and behind him saw more pitches to hit and translated to Hanley and Pedey showing power they hadn't seen in years. You replaced the heart of your order with a guy who was allowed to walk for nothing in Moreland. This effectively shortened your lineup. Removing Shaw and relying on Pablo also hurt your lineup as it created a black hole where reasonable performance had been. We saw a similar issue when we lost Cano. We thought we could improve in other areas and replace MVP level performance. It didn't work out that way at all. You need to have a true masher in the middle of your order. That would suddenly and consistently elevate the play of those around him
  4. JBJ has also been a rare spot of solid offense in your lineup as well. He isn't a one trick pony. He doesn't get dealt
  5. I will tell you right now that ERod is looking at surgery in the offseason. My assumption is that he is hoping the knee holds out and doesn't sublux or dislocate before November. The surgery will come with a lengthy rehab time and would likely cause him to miss the beginning of the season.
  6. I actually disagree with the elevated pitching statement to a point. You cannot pitch up if you don't have velocity and the pitches up aren't up in the strike zone, they are up out of the strike zone. Only the best pitchers are able to command above the zone, because if they miss at the top of the zone, it's a homer.
  7. Your rotation is going to carry your team. Sale and Price are legit aces. Porcello is coming off a CY last year. Pom is having a good year and ERod is a phenomenal #5. The question as always is if you can hit enough to support them
  8. Castro back on the DL is a big blow. Would have been lessened with Torres available. Why we aren't seeing more of Wade when he is called up is beyond me
  9. Kimbrel will likely reset the market if he stays on course.
  10. Stanton is in the third year of the new contract. The first three years pays him only $30 mil total. The last 10 seasons pay him $295 mil guaranteed
  11. He has $295 mil remaining guaranteed
  12. Espinosa was touted as being the next Pedro by Pedro.
  13. Stanton has another 10 yrs and $295 mil guaranteed.
  14. That is true. Once the capsule is ruptured or stretched, a recurrent dislocation increases in probability.
  15. It's not an enigma at all. Papi was a world class presence in your order. He left a major void. Your lineup shortened and wasn't replaced.
  16. Slav, you've scored 3ER in 24.1IP vs starters with a sub 4ERA since the ASB (Happ, Stroman, CC, Severino). I'd say your observation isn't particularly accurate
  17. That pen is going to be deadly. We may not have much after Severino right now, but Sabathia has been quality, Montgomery had been good up until he started in Boston and Tanaka had been an ace aside from this season. We have the makings of a rotation that can at least give us 5-6 innings. We don't need 7 or 8. If we get a lead after 5, we have the guys to hold it
  18. Your problem right now is that your lineup has limited depth. You've got three auto-outs in your lineup if you include Moreland post injury. Upgrading a player who is producing doesn't help much. This means that if any of your counted on players go into a prolonged slump (like Bogaerts) then your lineup has no rhythm. Your SP can hide a lot of mistakes, but when opposed by a good pitcher, you're lineup is easily neutralized.
  19. There are many things I love about Judge, but his actions on the ball field are up there with my favorite. He hit a ball that nearly left Safeco field. Most guys hit that and watch it, or flip the bat. Judge hits it, drops the bat, drops his head and just jogs. No hot dogging. No staring out there. He acts like he's been there before. He is the baseball reincarnation of Dave Winfield with Derek Jeter's mannerisms. He is our next captain for sure
  20. Dealing Bradley st this juncture makes no sense at all.
  21. Judge broke statcast today. What a bomb
  22. Travis is a victim of his position. He's a hitter but he doesn't project to have typical 1b power. Hence he'll get overlooked. He might have a fair amount of worth to Boston, but he isn't a headliner for anything significant
  23. Let's get back to the deal. Last evening, we used the old guard and saw Betances come back to his form. Chap is still a bit off, but effective. We haven't used DRob yet and Kahnle has thrown one dominant inning. This pen is going to be sick, especially when Chap returns to his dominant self. Plus we can get him rest down the stretch
  24. We are going to purge a bunch of garbage by then anyway. I'm not worried about the Rule V this year. We will add the good ones for sure
