  1. This is what happens every time the sox are good. The FO thinks that they outsmarted the world and then they change the dynamic and lose. The blueprint changes so often that consistency is impossible. Your offense ran through Papi and letting him go killed it
  2. But that's stupid. Encarnacion is made for Fenway. He's not Papi, but he's a major power bat in the middle of the lineup that allows Hanley to hit with a runner on and allows Pedey to see more fastballs. .372 OBP and 22 HR would look great in the Fens. It's probably higher with the ballpark dimensions
  3. Cahill sucks. He's a guy who resurrected his career in SD. Your O will come to play tonight. Can ERod hold down the surging Royals?
  4. Realistic view.... if Price is out for a month or two and you don't upgrade either the rotation or the offense, there's a good chance you're the second wild card
  5. Solo shots suck, but they're inevitable. The fact that we can have a six game win streak with half of those wins not seeing our starter last 5 is a testament to the behemoth that our Gm has created. Tanaka, Sevy and JMont gave us length and Sabathia and Smith sucked, but our pen handled those games. With our offense and our pen, we can take games that are usually auto losses and turn them into wins. Without a reliable pen, Sabathia might have given up 7 runs two nights ago. The same can be said for Smith twice. Girardi has the luxury of pulling a starter early when they encounter trouble rather than riding them to save a beleaguered and inferior pen. And each time we have a pen game, someone is saved (Green tonight) and each time we get length, we usually only use 1 or 2 of our big guys in the pen. Green, Warren, DRob, Kahnle, Betances and Chapman. Dynamite. So deep we sent down a lefty with a sub 3 ERA from our pen in Shreve
  6. The biggest offseason failure was not talking Ortiz back into playing. Signing him for $25 mil for a season might have seen him return. He was your leader. He was also a force offensively
  7. 5.2IP 2ER. Pen comes through again.
  8. The Phillies dealt him to the O's to get their INTL bonus slot
  9. Mous isn't going anywhere now. The Royals are in the playoffs of season ended today
  10. So a teenager who just got drafted has a drug trafficking father. Who do you think he learned the ropes of life from?
  11. So many people on this site said that the sox O would be fine without Ortiz. You might be having some revisionism here.
  12. Duda is an awful 1b. That being said, having him at DH and Hanley at 1b isn't the worst thing in the world. The Rays got him for nothing. Literally. They dealt their #30 prospect for him, a guy they go from Detroit for Mikie Mahtook.
  13. You cannot throw in the towel on this year. Let me reiterate that, throwing in the towel on this year would effectively damn DD to the firing squad, and I'm sure he's not interested in being let go again. Prior to 2016, the sox had a top 5 farm system. Since that point, Margot, Espinosa, Asuaje, Guerra, Allen, Kopech, Moncada, Basabe, Dubon, Pennington and Shaw have been dealt. To top that off, you won 90+ games last year and even with your struggles, sit in WC position and a half game out of the ALE race this year. If you sell, you aren't selling much. The assets that would bring back the best return aren't guys you'll sell and the assets you want to sell have no value. You're stuck. This is your window. DD has decimated the farm and your next wave is 3-4 years away and is fronted by an injury prone lefty with a family history of drug trafficking. While your team amassed talent, it was devoid of leadership. But, talent usually wins out. You cannot throw in the towel, trust me. If the sox start selling off parts, then your entire FO will get canned
  14. Not anymore. Your system has been depleted
  15. Because you already sold your soul to win this season. Price gets you nothing while he's hurt. Hanley is worthless in a trade. Holt and Young are useless too
  16. Espinosa down for this season and next
  17. Tanaka rolling. Do not ever pitch him during the day again. 0-5 14.81ERA in the day 7-4 3.32 ERA at night
  18. Johnson is hurt too
  19. I'm still not sold on this rotation, but I like our offense and love our pen. We do have an ace, but after him, I'm not too confident in a short series. We never hit Keuchel. If we are to beat the stros, we'd need him to be shelved
  20. It's being reported now via other sources
  21. Shaughnessy is reporting renewed elbow soreness for Price and that he will end up back on the DL
  22. I am listening to EEI this morning and wow, the media hates this sox team. I love it. Plus, the yanks may be a half game out, but we're up a game in the loss column. Slow and steady here.
