  1. Over. His elbow technically wont explode. And I have a feeling he throws a quality (but not spectacular) game tonight.
  2. I do too. Good for Shelley. Stop being so damn sensitive.
  3. like I said, it couldnt be more in our favor. If we blow it, then it is totally our fault.
  4. their tough series starts in 2 days. We face Baltimore 6 times who are without any of their pitchers who hurt us (Guthrie, Olsen, Bedard, Trachsel). We face TB 3 times in Tampa and we get Toronto 4 times at home. And as we saw, Toronto has damn near given up. We have a 3 game lead in the L column as well. It would take one hell of a choke job by us or one hell of a run by them to drop this thing. Either way, if we gain even one more game in the L column on them, it is over. If we go 7-7 over our last 14 game, they need to go 9-4 just to tie which includes 3 against Cleveland and another tilt with Minny and Santana. And that is assuming we go .500 against the worst competition baseball has to offer.
  5. and it pretty much ensured you of the division. As a yankee fan, yesterdays game has officially shifted my focus to the WC. Up 3 in the L column with 14 games to go, time to hold on tight.
  6. you only need 1 of 3, and that is what I think you will get. In order for us to win the division, we need to sweep you guys, then hope we can gain two more games in the L column in 2 weeks while both of us play cupcakes. If we lose one measly game in this series, you guys finish this series with a 4 game lead in the L column and will virtually seal the deal barring a monumental collapse against the most pathetic teams in the game.
  7. well that should do it. The east belongs to the sox.
  8. Cabrera was safe. Yankees jobbed once again. How much is Tito paying the umps? I wouldnt put it past them, we all know how crooked those New England teams are
  9. just got in, looks like we're rallyin, nice!
  10. Thus far in September, Hughes, Kennedy and Joba have paid some serious dividends to extend our lead in the WC race, and the future looks pretty nice from where I am sitting. Since Sept 1, Hughes has made 2 starts, both yankee victories, allowing 3ER in 12IP, while allowing 13 baserunners. What was even more encouraging was that he is starting to locate that big bender and his fastball seems to have come up a couple ticks since his poor return to the rotation. Since Sept 1, Ian Kennedy has made 3 starts (2 Yankee victories and a 9th inning loss). In those starts, he has thrown 19innings allowing only 13 hits. His walk totals are high (9) but anyone who saw his start last night can see that he is not wild. He locates a solid arsenal well and changes speeds to fool the hitters. Both kids have a long way to go, but since September started, the yanks are 4-1 in their starts and they look like they are going to be hanging around in this rotation for a good long while. Meanwhile, Joba has thrown 16 innings with 0ER while K'ing 20. His 0.88WHIP looks pretty sick as well. He has been exactly what the yankees needed out of the pen. In all likelihood, he starts next season in AAA to stretch out the arm and then will come up once Mussina hits the shits again. But there is a real likelihood that Hughes, Chamberlain, and Kennedy will see significant time in the rotation next yr, which is a refreshing change from the hired mercs of old. If these kids can stay on course and develop as expected, the yankees will be really happy.
  11. In terms of making the playoffs, the Tigers need to make up 4 in the L column while facing the Twins 6 times (with Santana pitching twice) then the Guardians who smell blood in the divisional water for 3. This is all without one of their best pitchers (Bonderman), with one of their stalwarts from last yr pitching like s*** (Robertson), and with another one coming back from injury(Rogers). I know the same can be said about us in the last 2 categories, but we have the 4 game lead and after the sox series, it is smooth sailing against chumps.
  12. now lets see if they can play through this adversity while also not knowing what the other team is doing.
  13. Britton gives it up. f***in A. Cant win them all
  14. and his stretch set too. Even though his numbers dont bear it out, the kid has some very good control. He is a sure bet to be a solid mid rotation pitcher if he can keep it up. Hell of a start, too bad gas can and his bum shoulder are coming in to paint the kid with the L.
  15. the first part has been gone for a long time. The second part, well, are you supposed to lose that?
  16. 1st rounder and a big fine. Good punishment if you ask me.
  17. 1 hitter in his 3rd major league start?
  18. its a better offense than what Clay faced for his no-no, so lets not pull this card. he is facing a solid major league team.
