  1. We better win this damn thing, cause going in as the WC is kinda crappy.
  2. 8-1. Welcome to the playoffs Yankees.
  3. congrats on the division, kill the halos.
  4. Wang has been nothing but spectacular in the playoffs in his career and he has been our ace. He starts game 1. I like the idea of Pettitte and Moose at home.
  5. wont happen now. Absolutely wont happen now. Kemp will be their starting LF for yrs to come while Manny is breaking down and only has one yr left on his contract. The time to act was last yr on that.
  6. Carmona doesnt scare me at all. He dominated us in his first start, then we hit him around a bit the second time. We all saw what he did in the "clutch" last season when Papi took him yard twice late in the yr. And he doesnt have the element of surprise anymore. Had we not seen him at all while he dominated everyone else, then his first start would scare the crap out of me. And in the first game, we get to send our ace to the hill vs theirs with a rested pen behind him. I think this series ends in NY in our favor. For the sox, the angels are most certainly playing the rest card right now. You'll get a healthy dose of Lackey, Escobar and Weaver. Like I said before, I hope you guys go 5 games and take care of them. They are the only team that I think can knock us off right now. No matter how hot we are, they always know how to beat us.
  7. Welcome to your first series. With the Angels losing 6-0 right now to Texas, they are about to fall 4 games back in the L column to the Guardians for best record in the AL with 6 to play. This implication looms large since the sox most likely will be taking the ALE crown. This means that, the only way the Angels and Yankees can square off is if the Angels have the best record in the AL or if the Yankees win the east. This is independent of where the sox finish. Case in point. 2 most likely scenarios... 1. Lets say the Guardians have the best record in the AL. They automatically get the #4 seed which would be the wild card. That would mean BOS vs LAA and CLE vs NYY 2. The Red Sox have the best record in the AL and the Guardians cruise in with the 2 seed. The Red Sox as the #1 seed would match up with the #3 seed since two teams from the same division cannot square off in the ALDS. The Yankees, then would face CLE in a 2 vs 4 matchup. Hence, the only scenarios in which the sox and Guardians could square off are... 1. The Yankees overcome a 3 game deficit to win the division and the Guardians take the best record in the AL, making a CLE vs BOS series happen 2. The Angels overcome a 4 game deficit with 6 to play on the Guardians and take the 1 seed while we coast in with the wild card. Needless to say, enjoy the late night action. And kick some ass. God knows the ALCS belongs on the east coast. And I want a rematch of 99, 03 and 04.
  8. he has the option, it is a players option. But at 16mil, he'd be hard pressed to pass it up. Especially if he isnt looking for a long term deal.
  9. Joba's future is in the rotation. His immediate future is the strongest link in our bridge. I dont think he starts next season in the majors. His innings will likely finish in the 120 range this season. They will garnish his innings early in the yr, most likely 4-5 inning stints for the first few months and then opening it up to a limit of 150 or 160. Until then, our rotation will most likely start with Wang/Pettitte/Moose/Hughes/Kennedy. I'd expect Hughes to be a LOT better next yr while Pettitte and Moose will worsen. Chamberlain most likely comes back up mid season when either Moose or Andy are hurt or useless.
  10. They have already been out. I am kinda peeved about last night. But then again, having a fresh pen would be nice for now. I just want to make this thing official then move on to October.
  11. I highly doubt he goes to the cubs when the cubs sale hasnt even been finalized yet. I dont think they'd be willing to give away part of the franchise that they just paid top dollar for.
  12. yes, Burnett is streaky. He's have a nice long streak of success of late, but his track record is capable of dominating or imploding on a nightly basis.
  13. Back to the games rather than the past. Today you guys get to watch and wait to see if your magic number drops. Should be a solid pitchers duel. Burnett dominated us last time out, but he is streaky and we dont typically get dominated by a pitcher two times in a row, especially when he has been seen recently.
  14. not shocking that they made up ground, just shocking that they've made up THIS MUCH ground, especially when we left your house with a 4.5 game lead and we both had cupcakes along the way. Even so, today is a must win for us as this is the touted half game that I always look past and then we just need to play one game better over the final 5. Your lead has dwindled as far as it can since a tie is a division win for us.
  15. not I. If you cannot take it, you shouldnt dish it out. I took it on a sox site and took it hard the next day. And rightfully so.
  16. Joba was dominant today. Boy did we need that. And Moose is coming around at just the right time. Looks like he needed a bit of a break to get that arm speed back. BTW, hey Yankee fans, how nice is it to have a backup C who can actually play?
  17. What is interesting about this team is that there is no clear cut team that is the juggernaut here. The only team that had that title was ANA, but now their #2 pitcher is hurt, their lynchpin in their pen is sucking eggs and Vlade/Chone/Mathews Jr are injured. The Guardians have been a flawed team from the getgo, and to be honest, Carmona does not scare me in the playoffs. Remember how he did under pressure last season? Exactly. And with DMats reverting to normalcy, Schilling being unpredictable, and Manny pulling his yearly where in the world is Manny trick, the sox are by no means favorites either. And for the Yankees, the team with the hottest offense and bullpen (if you consider Mo, Joba and Viz the pen cause the other guys SUCK), it all falls to their pitching. Wang, Pettitte pray for rain. Again, flawed. Should be a fun playoff season.
  18. if we win the divison, it wont give us home field most likely. The angels are a game behind the Sox for the best record in the AL while the Guardians are tied. In order for us to take the division, most like both of those teams will pass the sox and we'd be the third seed. All the division would give us is home field vs the sox if we both make it to the ALCS.
  19. that's like having a choice between catching your wife in bed with your best friend or finding out your kid isnt yours.
  20. Moose is on the hill tomorrow, Clemens got pushed back due to a hammy strain.
