  1. he has a 4 run lead and the best middle relief in baseball on the mound. Why ruin the setup of Sabathia and Carmona when they really have this game in the bag.

  3. farnsworth for captain
  4. the yankees pulled a Jeter
  5. its called bringing up your spirits for the reverse cockpunch.
  6. I think we both are. We truly have no idea what pitcher he will be.
  7. HAHAHAHAHA. They are chanting Paul O'Neill in the stands. If only...
  8. But you cannot say that for certain. Beckett was out of his mind this yr. It would be hard to improve on what he was this season.
  9. Are you serious? I'm actually not terribly upset. I am just saying what could happen this offseason. I would think it is very plausible that Schilling could get long term offers on the table, and if the sox needed to go multiple yrs, would you do it?
  10. I didnt think the 2 yr deal was bad at the time. he was coming off a great yr and going 2 yrs was certainly plausible. I think Moose wanted 3 yrs, we wanted 1 and we met him in the middle. The good thing is, he might even have a market in the NL if we throw in some $$. I'd do it. Even though he was alright tonight, he has nothing and will only worsen.
  11. Wang and Beckett are different kinds of pitchers. beckett has the stuff to dominate one game. But over a full season, who do I take? its tough cause Beckett may just be having a career yr right now or he could be an ace for life. Who knows. One thing I know about Wang is that the guy will still throw 200 innings a yr and have an ERA at or below 4. Unfortunately, that doesnt do s*** when you need an acelike performance with our backs against the wall, yet we get this s***.
  12. He's in one of his s***** stretches. I dont think I can consider him an ace anymore, but 2 games wont change the fact that he is still a solid pitcher.
  13. One thing that losing Schilling would do is put a ton of pressure on DiceK. He'll be leaned on as the #2 and would need to perform as such.
  14. Despondent isnt the word. At least the future looks damn good with Torre out of the picture and the rooks looking solid. But losing to Byrd is similar to losing to Rogers last yr. Inexcuseable and terrible. This team should have come to play tonight. And from the 3rd pitch until now, they didnt. f*** em.
  15. If I told you that a 3 yr deal gets Schill, anything less makes him walk, do you bite and keep him?
  16. Lets just say that is what he brings to the table. Kinda like with Pedro, nobody knew what he really got, but there is that deadline to offer arb and there certainly is the possibility that Schill can get a multiyr deal.
  17. Fixed it for you
  18. Goodbye 2007. Another ALDS that we should have won, gone by the wayside. On the bright side, NO MORE TORRE!!!!
  19. yet another fantastic move by our soon to be unemployed skipper. Clemens is down for the count. Pettitte and Hughes are unavailable and Wang may or may not have anything. So when he puts Clemens on the inactive roster, he goes out and activates the lefty who cannot get lefties out? Why no Kennedy when Torre KNEW this situation could arise. Instead, we have a tired bullpen and a guy with nothing on the hill while we watch with baited breath to see if he can hold it.
  20. the knuckleball keeps him consistent yr to yr. Schilling may or may not continue to see his stuff drop and as we saw with Mussina, there is a level to which stuff decline takes you from being "crafty" to being s*****.
  21. his sinker has been down since the Sizemore AB. I hope that continues.
  22. Technically, Schilling is just as big a ?? as Wake. And for the season, Wake was what he always is. A reliable, but not spectacular arm. You put innings eaters like Beckett and DiceK along with Wake and you could deal with the growing pains of the kids.
