I didnt expect him to be a low 2's guy like he was in the NL. I thought he would be a #3, kinda like what Wang turned out to be. A guy who could do very well over a full season, but not necessarily your first choice to pitch a playoff game.

So did Pavano that season. And you dont see me clamoring for him to be our ace. Wait...

I said before that he would be a high 3's pitcher, which he was until he hurt himself. I never expected him to continue what he did in the NL, only that he might continue what he did in the AL.

Mariano, like he ended up doing. And Beckett's run in Florida means about as much as Pavano's and Clement's. Nothing. The NL is the JV league until proven otherwise.

No doubt, but I do have two and a half yrs of track record in a yankee uniform with very similar performances. Beckett has one yr of stud and one yr of dud.

Garcia is coming off labrum surgery which is death for a pitcher. But Colon had his done and has come back throwing just as hard, so maybe they are getting better at it. I'm not sure I go after any of those guys.

700, you have been preaching for the past couple yrs that our downfall was age and now our downfall is youth? The fact is, guys like Hughes and Joba stepped up major league when needed. Both will be in the rotation along with Kennedy who was dynamite down the stretch in big ball games. They did exactly what I had hoped they wouldnt do, which was be thrown into the pennant race late in this thing. They are ready. The big question will be who defects with Torre and will Pettitte exercise his option. Pettitte is the key IMO. He and Wang make a nice top 2 for the kids to grow under, kinda like Beckett and DiceK for you guys. If we rely on Hughes or Joba or Kennedy as the 3 next yr, we could be fine. If they are our 2-4 and we need to go to Moose as the 5 with no lefty, we are in trouble. This is going to be an interesting off season. We have the potential to really do something positive from within, but George might throw a wrench into the works.

Get very happy. I find that Torre is only a product of the immense resources rather than skill as a manager. If we continue those resources while having better management of them, we could be very very good.

he was never specific like he was this time. AND Torre's contract is up at the end of this yr. He technically wont be fired, just not renewed.
