  1. ERA isn’t everything and you know it. Garcia has a 0.8 WAR and 4.15 WHIP in his first 6 starts. That would translate to a 4.0 WAR over 30 starts. Pretty solid, especially considering he just turned 21. Houck has been lights out, no doubt. He’s also 3 years older than Deivi. and it doesn’t diminish what Deivi has done this year. His only hiccup was agains the Sox, who inexplicably have a player who can only hit breaking balls.
  2. One rough inning, but Deivi cruises from there and gets painted by that puke Ottavino. Offense found their sticks. Good day for sure
  3. That’s clearly the hope for all.
  4. Streaky as hell. If they go on a hot streak, they can win it all. If they go cold, they’ll be swept. Weird that a team this good can be this bad. Points to a managerial issue
  5. They didn’t clarify. If he was relegated to virtual bed rest, then that entails the concern about cardiac stress worsening the condition. Maybe they were just being careful, but that does raise suspicion that he suffered a rather significant loss in function and now he’s showing signs of it returning. That doesn’t impart the news of a normal offseason. That imparts the news that he should be able to live a near normal life in the short term for the average human. They may be predicting a full return of function, but how scary must that have been for the kid? I feel for him. Here’s to hoping he can return
  6. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/09/latest-on-chris-sale-eduardo-rodriguez.html Cleared to start walking again? Wtf?
  7. It’s what he’s become. He was a builder in Miami
  8. The Twins overtook the White Sox for the top spot in the central. That throws a wrinkle in things a bit
  9. The Angels would be a bad place for DD. Their farm is pretty rough beyond Adell. DD is a finisher. You don’t hire him when you’ve got an expensive roster, limited cap space and an empty cupboard
  10. It’s uncharted waters to be honest. We know there are many viruses that can cause myocarditis, most of them very common. Just a rare complication of some viruses that cause pink eye, the GI bug or the common cold. The problem with myocarditis is that once you get it the course can be variable from severe acute congestive failure and deadly arrythmias to reversible diminished function and no residual effects to anything in between. We don’t have enough data to determine if covid induced myocarditis causes a more concerning or less concerning long term picture. That’s the issue here, ERod is literally in uncharted medical territory, which isnt where you want to be as a mid twenties professional athlete. There are two pieces of info I’d like to know that haven’t been released. 1. Has he had any arrythmias? Myocarditis can lead to ventricular and atrial dysrhythmias and if he’s had ventricular dysrhythmias, then he’d be a candidate for a defibrillator. 2. What is his residual Ejection fraction? The standard person ejects 60-65% of the blood that enters the left ventricle with each beat. People with myocarditis can get all the way down to 5% and be in transplant range. Recovery can be variable, but does happen in most cases, but if his EF is down, then that means he’s at a higher risk of developing heart failure under stress or generating dysrhythmias which would keep him from playing. Without the above two questions, everything is speculation. So for now, you just wait to see if he gets cleared. If he’s not cleared early on, that tells you there is residual dysfunction, and if he still has dysfunction many months out, his likelihood of recovery back to normal would be low
  11. Deivi has a rough game. I didn’t get to watch, but per game cast, he seemed to lack the upper levels of his fastball. He seemed to be throwing almost exclusively 89-90. He varies his FB speed, so seeing him hit 89-90 isn’t out of the ordinary, but he ramps it up to 95 when he needs it. I didn’t see that on the game cast. Listen, Garcia has power, but he varies the speeds. He’s got a lights out curveball. He’s got a really good change. But he doesn’t have the power to be a fastball first guy like Cole. He really needs the Fb and curve to be effective as his change cannot carry him. It sounds like his velo was down and his breaking ball was flat. He’s gonna get hammered whenever that happens
  12. If the Sox start 2021 with Dalbec and Houck in the minors, they’ve either gone full nutty on the FA and trade market or are making a serious play to augment service times
  13. Clearly you know little about baseball
  14. I have a job and had to do it today. It’s possible Arroyo blossoms late, but for every Urshela, there are 100 Arroyo’s (or presumptive Arroyo’s). Voit and Tauchman has mashed in the minors, they were just blocked.
  15. Lol. Only took 14 tries, but you got us
  16. Well, glad I missed that one. Deivi and his softer, moving stuff played right into Chavis’ game
  17. WAR of nearly 2 in 33 games. Now has above average to plus defense. Became more patient, strikes out less (although still too much). Power has come on nicely. He’s finally reached his potential and you’ll likely see him in NY patrolling LF for the next five years
  18. I think the likelihood the Yanks let Tanaka or DJ walk is pretty low.
  19. Happ is rounding into form. 94 mph heat late? He’s peaking at the right time and is likely the best #4 in the AL
  20. You won’t see Duran until May either. And outside of his dominance of High A, has not shown the ability to thrive at the higher levels. Duran needs to show that he can put the bat on the ball so he can use his best attribute.
  21. Arroyo has proven that he is not a starter at the big league level
  22. Didn’t realize Severino had his surgery a full month and 3 days before Sale did. Sale was delayed due to the covid 19 pandemic. Severino had his surgery Feb 27. Starters usually build up, without a setback, in about 14 months and start to get back to their baseline by 18 months. So Sevy should return around May 1 and could be back to his usual self come the end of August
  23. Eovaldi is only going to move in a dump. So you deal him and literally take back either another dump or nothing. So dealing Eovaldi does nothing. If he pitches, he fills a need. If he doesn’t, he’s the same as a dump. If the true goal is to contend, then penciling in Eovaldi to the 5 hole is what you do. If your goal is financial flexibility, then you dump him
  24. Verlander to get TJS. Will miss all of this year and next
  25. He is an expert trader. Even if none of these guys pan out, there is a good enough chance that a couple will be good enough to have some value in another trade
