They’re actually good this year. What this comes down to is a team of injury prone players being asked to ramp up faster and in a far different way than they’re used to and injuries piled up. It’s not surprising. We just need to make the playoffs. Don’t care if it’s a “road” 2 out of 3. Nobody will want to face Cole and Tanaka in games 1-2. Nobody.

We are stretching the depth we have. Could have used a starter, infielder, outfielder or reliever. Would have loved Johnathan Schoop from Detroit as a nice stopgap should Torres not get better. Would have loved Archie Bradley or even a guy like Minor. Don’t know how you sit pat here

You don’t have what the Guardians will want. The crap you threw in there doesn’t help them. The Yankees also don’t line up well with them. The Guardians are dealing from a surplus. They don’t need young pitching, they’ve got it in spades. They need offense, and with the Yanks offense on the IL, they need all they could get. Unless you’re willing to part with Xander or Devers, you don’t have the MLB ready offensive players they’re gonna want If the Yanks were healthy, I’d build a package around Tauchman or Frazier, but with Judge out til the last week of the season and Hicks leaving yesterday with an injury, we cannot really afford to deal from our now very much needed surplus of outfielders. Freeing a tooled up Wade or Estrada for trade would be useful too, but with Torres out and Urshela dealing with a bone spur in his elbow, they need those two guys. Ford would be desirable as a third guy, but with Stanton a frequent visitor to the IL, they need to keep him around. My bet is Clevenger isn’t moved at the deadline. You don’t deal a guy who’s that good because of a one night lack of judgement that wasn’t illegal. My bet is the Guardians deal Clevenger in the offseason because he’s starting to get expensive in arbitration

Really liked Garcia today. They call him “Little Pedro” but he reminded me more of El Duque. He’s a cross fire pitcher who varies his fastball speeds, can run it or keep it straight and has a really nasty breaking ball and change. The fastball seemed to vary from 90 with run or even 90 as a 4 seamer to 94 when the batter had 2 strikes and he elevated. He was hitting every spot he needed to. Very few hard hit balls. Very few balls lifted. Many broken bats. Strange to see a 21 yr old throw like he did. Really impressive. He should see many more starts

I think Vaz is gonna move and the return will be puzzling initially, but in time will be absolutely stellar

Really like Michael King, but don’t think he’s a starter. His sinker slider combo is real nice, but I don’t think he’s cut out for more than 1 and definitely not more than 2 turns through a lineup. I’d utilize him a la Ramiro Mendoza of year’s past. Good swing guy who can give you a good 3 innings as a bridge

You're on pace for the #2 pick, the second highest bonus pool, and a tear down. Heck, the sox have the most losses in baseball, so there is a shot they could edge out the Pirates for the 1 spot. If I were Bloom, I would deal off EVERYONE. No need to keep Devers, he will be on a big boy contract by the time the sox are relevant again. Bogaerts gets NTC protection in 7 days, deal his ass off too. Vaz is a catcher and has only two more years of control. It is too bad ERod is down, I would deal him too. I would strip this thing to the studs and build anew

When you're staring at the type of rebuild that Boston needs, the first thing you do is gather talent. You do not look for positions of need when everything is needed. Bloom did well in the Betts deal. He did well enough in the Workman deal, although I think he may have dealt him concerned that the bloom was falling off the rose. I think he did really well with Moreland. He is an EXPERT trader guys. This is the guy you want dealing away players, he seems to always hit. I think the next one to fall is Vaz. Makes too much sense. His value is incredible and rumor has it, TB is in on him. Who better to extract a 4 for 1 package from the Rays than the guy who built their farm?

As with Severino, I am not expecting Sale or Luis to be at their best until August or September. They will likely be completing their throwing program come opening day next year and (if all things break right) should be able to be on the mound in the bigs come June. But the surgery for starters has an interesting timeline, and while these guys will regain velocity and stuff, they won't regain their consistency or their stamina for around 16-18 months. Relievers usually fare better since they don't need the stamina and by nature, have some inconsistencies game to game. They can also be babied along a bit until fully recovered. I think the biggest question with Sale is what's up with the shoulder? Was the lost velo due to his elbow? We shall see. If he comes back healthy but pumping 90-93, he's a bust. If he comes back pumping 97-98, then the world better watch out

Potts is a former first rounder who showed good pop as a 20 yr old in AA. 40 EBH in 107 games is really good. He has a lot of swing and miss in his game and likely needs to work on his eye, but his productivity at a high level at a young age is a good thing for the sox. Also, he possesses the one tool so coveted in today's game, power. Rosario is a speedster with a very good eye. Known to be a contact hitter, he will hit the occasional HR. He posted a .370+ OBP in High A as a 19 yr old. My bet is he starts to steal more bases as he learns the art, but he did swipe 18 last year. The fact that the sox got these two guys for Mitchey-2 bags is a steal. No pitchers, but the sox did well here.

Only a fool would think Cashman is the problem. The talent is there, but our team resembles the Scranton squad rather than the big league squad right now. Again, they cannot stay healthy

Shaw got demoted as an older player and it made a big difference. Maybe an option to the alternative site is the way to go
