  1. Game 2 may have been a joint decision and a reason why the FO f***wits need to stay off the field. We won't know if Garcia as a starter would have outperformed what Happ did. Green's mismanagement was directly responsible for the events of last night, though, and entirely stupid. The Rays were every bit as good or better than the Yankees. You cannot make that callous of a mistake with Green, especially when the rest of your pen has been entirely hit or miss.
  2. October baseball is better than no October baseball two years running, right?
  3. Pretty solid game last night, even if the result wasn’t in our favor. Hate making this post while baseball is still going on, but a hat tip to the Rays. Focusing on NY, Boone entirely f***ed this series. Did he forget there weren’t off days? Why, with a 1-0 lead, burn two starters in game 2? Why not stick to convention? It worked against Bieber, Carrasco and Snell. Instead, you got cute and it burned us. Second, why the ever living s*** would you burn Chad Green in game 3, down 3 runs? That led to him not being available in game 5, which lead to needing to get 4 innings from Chapman and Britton. Chapman is a great pitcher, but when you ask him to get more than 3 outs, you play with fire. Brousseau’s HR is up there with the Rajai Davis homer back in 2016 as reasons why you don’t overextend Chapman. But we wouldn’t have needed Chap for more than an inning if Green was available. I do not get it. The first thing to do this offseason is to move on from Boone. He was handed a young LCS team from Girardi, added Lemahieu and Gerrit Cole and couldn’t get past a team with a third the payroll. He was given the chances, it’s time to move on. Beyond that, some tough choices will need to be made. Lemahieu, Gardner, Paxton, Tanaka are all FA’s. I’m sure Tanaka and Lemahieu get QO’s, but I’m no longer sure we try more than a one year deal for Masahiro. We absolutely need to re-sign Lemahieu. I’ve seen a Donaldson deal as a likely range at 4 yrs $92 mil for DJ. I’d be fine with that. I’d opt out of Gardy’s deal and let the walking IL in Paxton leave as well. On the arb side, I’d offer Sanchez a 1 yr $4 mil deal, a slight drop. If he doesn’t take it, non tender him. There’s far more to get into as this long covid offseason slogs on.
  4. Cole needs to get efficient and get through 6
  5. And he righted himself. He sucks in inning 1
  6. He’s way off today
  7. Cole can work on 3 days rest and go as long as needed. Deivi can be of assistance should we get out to a big lead or should Cole falter. The craziest thing here is that the Rays are going Glasnow on two days rest after a 93 pitch outing. I said from the beginning that the Rays would win the series if Glasnow pitched game 1 as he’s harder for us than Snell and he’s have at least 3 days rest for game 5. Having an oft injured guy throw on 2 days rest is a recipe for disaster for the Rays (or maybe he becomes a new hero wrecking his arm in the process). Either way, I’d take Cole on 3 days rest. This one will be fun
  8. Ballgame! Tomorrow is gonna be a dandy
  9. Big game from Montgomery. Wow, talk about a surprise. The Yanks pen will be tired and Green is likely unavailable outside of an emergency. If we can close this out, Cole is gonna need to be nails
  10. Tonight is a pen game with their lefty as the bulk guy. We crush (or should) crush lefties. The Rays have the momentum and have badly outplayed us and badly outmanaged us two games in a row. If we can scrap together a win, then we can be really confident that we will make the ALCS. But Boone needs to keep Higgy catching and stop trying to be cute in managing. Handing the ball to Cole for a game 5 would be epic
  11. I wouldn’t blame Cora for looking for a better job. He also may need to wait a bit for the stink of the past to fade. There’s one common thread with managers brought into a rebuild. They rarely stick around long enough to see the final product. Cora knows this and with his gravitas, he will hold out for a team on the upswing
  12. For a minute there, I thought you said the Sox could deal oft injured Eovaldi and his $17 mil for 2021 plus wrecked Beni for the corpse of Odor and his $24 mil contract over the next two seasons and Lance Lynn, who’s been on of the most durable and effective starters in baseball the last 2 seasons and is under contract at a really reasonable $10 mil for 2021. All kidding aside, if Beni plus $5 mil is enough for Lynn, then he’d have been dealt last year. That’s a ludicrous proposal and something that renders that site entirely in need of readjustment
  13. You’re not gonna deal Eovaldi unless someone takes his entire contract. Dealing a pitcher who, when he takes the mound, is at least somewhat effective makes little sensed the return is a dead contract. Bloom is a value guy. Eovaldi makes value is low right now. Makes more sense to rehab his value and maybe you can get something useful
  14. Losing Severino happened after the start of the first ST. Losing German was preordained from last year, but their initial plan was to have him be an option the back half of the season. Losing them both is an issue, but not doing s*** at the deadline is also an issue. Today, Tanaka was not good. That’s not really debatable. Yesterday, Boone f***s around with his #3 and 4 starters and loses them both as starting options for tomorrow’s elimination game. Even if he got a pass for that, losing Green’s availability for tomorrow when we were down 3 is just inexcusable. It just is. You don’t burn him in more than one inning in a game you’re down 3 and it’s not an elimination game. Perfect world, Green doesn’t see the mound tonight, and he’s ready for game 4. Tomorrow goes JMont for 2-4, Garcia for 2-3, and then hand the ball to Green/Britton/Chapman. Losing Green for tomorrow or limiting him to one inning severely affects that plan. Really, really bad managing
  15. The Rays are a team that capitalize on mistakes and good fortune. They got some umpiring good fortune and managerial mistakes. Tip of the cap, they’ve outplayed the yanks. But to disregard the advantages they just were handed is also pretty stupid
  16. Today is the end of Boone’s tenure if the Yanks don’t find a way to bail him out. The umpiring today has been abysmal. 3-0 on Voit, sacks packed, 2 outs and Morton throws two balls well outside the zone and they’re called strikes. Voit bounces out. 1 run cost there. Tanaka had a strike em out throw em out DP on a 3-2 1 out situation, but the ump missed another one and called a ball. Kiermaier then crashes a 3 run bomb. Then Boone goes to his ace relievers down 3 and decides to burn Green for tomorrow’s likely elimination game by sending him out there for a second inning, and 2 runs score. The umps have cost us 4 runs. Boone has cost us 2. Add that on to Boone’s ******** from yesterday and this has to be his swan song. I’m done with him. And please, robot umps now
  17. Dumbity dumb dumb dumb f*** here. Tonight is a must win for the Yankees. It’s one thing to burn Garcia for an inning if it was his throw day. I didn’t realize yesterday wasn’t his throw day and he’s now burned from starting game 4. We have JMont, who’s looked better of late but by no means a sure thing, starting what will either be a clinching or elimination level game. Boone really painted himself into a corner with his shenanigans yesterday, dumb f***
  18. The Betts deal was genius. Price opts out, so his status becomes his last 2 yrs of his contract only and on the hook for half. Betts would be an FA right now if he stayed on the Sox. They’d have gotten a comp pick only. Instead, you’ve got a RFer who will be starting for the next four years for you and be installed atop or in the middle of your order. You got a versatile C-CIF-COF guy with power in Wong. And you got your top prospect currently in Downs. It was a steal for Bloom
  19. We’ve got Tanaka and Cole going games 3 and 5 (if necessary). The Rays will have to hope Morton and Yarbrough can win. The Rays should have won today and they did.
  20. You can’t have Sanchez bat there. Horrible managing
  21. The guys you noted also had performance issues. ERod’s issues haven’t been performance based.
  22. 5-1 now. I hope Deivi can go game 4
  23. And it backfired
