  1. Guys, it has to be Lester. Pedroia is a good player, but he isnt your most valuable player. He is young, but he really isnt a guy who you start a team with. He is more of a great role player, even if he won an MVP. Lester is a hard throwing lefty ace who would anchor most any team's rotation. What I am trying to say is that Pedroia is a very good pest, but he doesnt take over the game like Youk can on the offensive end. Lester can take the game in his hands
  2. Guys, if Gardner reaches base .370+, then I dont think they are gonna go after Crawford. Why spend $15 mil per yr for a guy who gives you a little more than the guy you pay league minimum
  3. The sox could deal away only pitching, but would need a third team in the deal
  4. Yeah, he has looked really good. Overall, April has been good for once. Hell, if ARod and Tex start hitting for power, this team is gonna be dirty
  5. The sox have a few more games to get it together. If their play doesnt improve soon, they are gonna die in May. They have today's game vs the Jays, 3 at Toronto, then 3 at Baltimore. After that, though, they have a brutal stretch 4 home vs LAA 3 home vs NYY 3 home vs TOR 3 away vs DET 2 away vs NYY 2 home vs MIN 3 away vs PHI 3 away vs TB
  6. So it really is a 1 yr deal unless they want to keep him around. It is less than half the cost of Scutaro
  7. Park still cannot throw off a mound due to hamstring soreness. He's probably out at least another week and if he cannot go by May 1, he will probably need a rehab assignment
  8. I cannot believe the Titans got Myron Rolle in the 6th round. Rolle was considered a top 10 draft pick prior to leaving for Oxford. He stayed in shape, ran great 40 times at his pro day and dropped 2 hundred spots? That's just stupid. He is gonna be a stud
  9. Wow, forgot what inning it was. Then I retract it. That wasnt a great move. For some reason, I thought it was the 7th
  10. I would assume that the chances of scoring 1 run is higher after the bunt, but the chances of scoring multiple runs would be higher is Swish swung away. Against the Halos, I would always play for adding 1 run on at a time.
  11. Also, Robby Cano hasnt made a boneheaded play yet. Only 1 error, being an errant throw on a DP when he was being taken out. ARod has looked nimble at 3b and Tex has been Tex. The Yankee defense is vastly underrated
  12. When I was growing up, pitchers couldnt throw breaking balls until they were 12. Now that TJS is so prevalent, I believe they have nixed that. Regardless, when I have a son, I am gonna bring him up the right way. FB, 2 seamer, cutter, straight change. Master those pitches first, then you can throw a breaking ball.
  13. There is a reason for that policy. Some ABs, you just dont feel comfortable for some reason, and instead of bouncing into a DP or K'ing, you can make a productive out. I disagree with your POV on that. Bunting was the right move. Yeah, the bottom of the order is coming up, but it allows your team to score without the benefit of a hit. And, as it turned out, that bunt was big as Cervelli brought 2 of them home and the INT walk to Grandy hurt the Halos as well as he scored on Jeter's hit.
  14. Say what you want, but if Pettitte has the stuff that he has flashed in the early going, he is gonna have a hell of a yr. Last season, his curveball was flatter and his velo was down. This yr, for some reason, he has his curve from 10 yrs ago back. Yesterday, it was ridiculous. If his curve stays that filthy and his FB stays in the 88-90mph range, he is gonna have a sub 4 ERA. It's that simple. This April is the best stuff I have seen from Pettitte since he came back from Houston
  15. well, goodnight all. Sloppy as s*** game, but the sox somehow pull it out again.
  16. And he has now walked 8 batters in 10IP
  17. It might happen. Maybe the Sox flip Bard to someone who then flips an offensive prospect to SD and then the sox send Kelly to SD plus others.
  18. I should have said a straight fastball splitting the plate in two. His location is f***ing terrible. His stuff is just overcoming his location thus far. In terms of Rivera, his pitch moves a ton.
  19. You allow that many baserunners against teams that are actually good and you will lose. The sox may have won 4 of 5, but their opponents are covering up a lot of their glaring issues.
  20. I havent seen him throw a splitter in a yr. Why did he scrap it again? It is a hell of a pitch
  21. Thats not a bad way to teach them. Hence why so many of them have such good plate coverage. They just dont see the kind of off-speed stuff that we see in the US. But they make up for it by seeing great velocity at all levels. Raw tools wise, for such a small country, the DR crushes us in terms of skill per player. It is all about honing that skill and player maturity.
