  1. Even if the Red Sox are winning consistently, the lack of offensive depth and power is a major issue that will be exploited by good teams. They need a big bat.
  2. Well, Cameron is out for 5-6 weeks, so I think McDonald stays on until he comes back anyways.
  3. I guarantee you that this will come up over the next 15 months or so before AdGon is eventually dealt.
  4. Varitek is really trying to steal a lot of playing time
  5. Dipre, theoretical question for you... The Padres and Sox agree on the ancillary parts of the deal. Anderson, Exposito, Doubront, and Kalish but the sticking point is with the headliner. The Padres say, okay, we'll take either Buchholz or Kelly and you have a deal. Who do you part with?
  6. I guess the question becomes, which guy do you want to keep? Cause, the sox dont have an impact bat in AAA waiting in the wings and there isnt a big market big bat hitting the market in the offseason.
  7. Right, but the question becomes, is a 5th starter in 2012 needed more than a 27 yrs old, 40HR, .900OPS, GG firstbaseman?
  8. But where do they put him Dipre? You have DiceK locked up through 2012, Lackey through 2014, Beckett through 2014, Lester through 2013, and Buchholz controlled through 2014.
  9. He missed today's game and will miss tomorrow's as well. He is slated to return on Tuesday if everything goes well. Allows us a chance to rest ARod and Jeter. My bet is that Jeter is the DH tomorrow with Pena playing SS
  10. I remember that. I just think Theo said one thing, but his actions said another. He went "pitching and defense" in response to losing Bay. But he didnt really buy into pitching and defense
  11. Hermida in the OF reminds me of the bad news bears. Walter Matthau is rolling in his grave
  12. The Pats had a good second round, but the Jets grabbed a better DB than the Pats did in round 1 and Wilson was still on the board. I thought that was a poor move.
  13. I know VMart is a problem, but if you want prime defense, you need something more than an average SS.
  14. He's been nothing but average in his career, and he has been pretty bad in a SSS thus far.
  15. He makes MDC look like Greg Maddux circa 1996 in terms of control
  16. One of the ways to fix this team is for Theo to buy completely and totally into pitching and defense. First, if your goal is to have great defense, you need to have it up the middle. Martinez is a joke defensively, Varitek isnt much better and Scutaro has shown he's average to below average. Second, you need to have a roster that is redundant in this belief. Having a bench with Hermida (an AWFUL OFer), Hall (and AWFUL OFer and a poor IFer), and Lowell (now a below average defender) makes any subs or injuries completely undermine their plan. I know you guys will call me a homer, but look at the Yankees. They didnt set a motto of pitching and defense, but they are living it right now. Their IF is above average right now and their outfield has been really solid. They have a poor defensive catcher, but about 1/3 or 1/4 of the time a great defensive catcher replaces him. In the IF, Pena, a very solid defender, is the first to come off the bench. And in the OF, Randy Winn is the prime defender off the bench. They seemed to buy into the pitching and defense mantra better than the sox did, and the sox came into this yr touting it.
  17. Cruz has always been like this. I remember when he came up with the Cubs. He was a tease. Ridiculous stuff, absolutely terrible command. He and Daniel Cabrera are one and the same, albeit about 10 inches different in size. At some point, you stop looking at what could be and start looking at what is. He would be a f***ing nightmare. Every single one of you guys would be at his throat in his first game when he strikes out 3, walks 2 and hits a batter
  18. This might be the most pitchouts by one team in April that I have ever seen. They have no faith in their catcher
  19. The control is sweet, but I really think he is getting more depth out of it. He has always gotten a lot of horizontal movement, but the depth is impressive
  20. So....you want to take a guy from the Royals? A pen arm that the Royals didnt want? Do you remember the Royals pen when you faced them?
  21. Diony, seriously. Girardi seems to have his pitch count set at 110 or 120. Pettitte can handle it. Also, Andy has been really, really good today
  22. Andy Pettitte found the f***ing fountain of youth. He's throwing every pitch for strikes, has his old curveball back and is throwing over 90mph. I wonder if ARod and Andy are sharing their "protein shakes". Seriously, this guy looks like a f***ing ace out there
  23. It is absolutely hilarious. My wife was laughing so hard at him (granted, she is a sox fan)
