  1. The Bills win against the Jags was huge. Looking ahead at if they beat Oakland this week they're probably going to be 4-0 heading into Arizona, then they get a bye, the Chargers and the Jets before playing NE fot the first time. Could be a 6-1 team (in record only, that is, still think they're not all that great) by the time they play the Pats.
  2. maybe cuz he's from Montreal and is a Canadien fan and as such he should choke on crepe.
  3. Helluva job by Masterson. Too bad, too, he had good movement on all of his pitches, just missed his spots. The 2 strike HBP was the killer.
  4. I knew a girl who was totally intrigued by salty...Mr. Salty, that is, the bald-headed champ?
  5. I took that more as a shot at fat dudes with goatees, not as a shot at Canada. Put another way, why anyone signs this worthless canuck is anyone's guess and fans of the team's he's played for recently would rather he go home to milk reindeer sperm from unsuspecting bucks roaming Canada's sub-arctic tundra.
  6. Agreed, I don't think the FO commits to $15m+ per for 5 years, simply because they don't have to. Beckett, Dice, Lester, Wake is a damn solid 4, and personally I think the FO will seek, either internally or externally, a stronger option as 4th starter, pushing Wake down a slot.
  7. Not a fan of Meche, particulalry not at his current price tag. Top FA's SP's this offseason include Sheets, Sabathia and Burnett Garland and Dempster (assuming neither has gotten hurt recently, don't really follow these guys) are the "Gil Meche" type FA's this year, IMO.
  8. My buddy didn't partake either...s*** he can't even pee in public never mind get a bj from a hooker. At any rate, he said they were very, very hot and exotic and he likely went back to his room to whip up a batch. His kids and wife are precious to him, though, and he plays by the rules, save for an occasional rail. Outside of some serious drinking, I can't say I'd go down that road of potential impropriety either, just not my style. Hey, isn't this the Favre thread? Back on topic: Mangini cream pies Brett's *******. Would that make it a "moon-pie?"
  9. my buddy went to Costa Rica a couple years ago...alone. He owned a website that gave picks...got some sponsorship from island-based books, turned players onto a particular outfit and they wanted to pay him back with an all-expenses paid trip. Everything was at his disposal..alcohol, drugs, girls. One rule...don't go anywhere alone. Said it was a little scary at times and I guess his hosts were packin' when they'd go out. Never been there...but my guess is it ain't Bermuda.
  10. Just please, for the love of God, no one use the "f"-word when talking about Drew, it makes some people mad. F-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-r-a-g-i.....you know, that word. I do wish him the best in recovery and with the family issue.
  11. Sounds to me like there will be some big-time signings by the Yankees next year. A $220m payroll is not out of the question.
  12. The Sox appointed him as their GM in 2002. He did not, and still has not, IMO, "come into power". I believe Larry Lucchino is "the power" when it comes to Sox baseball operations.
  13. I'm going to look at this in terms of payroll change. The Tigers' 2007 opening day payroll was $95m. The Tigers' 2008 opening day payroll was $138m. The Tigers increase their opening day payroll, year over year, by $43m or 45%. Based upon their current winning percentage, they'd win 78 games this year...so they spend $43m to be 10 games WORSE than last year? That sucks and the Tigers get my vote.
  14. And it probably starts going down the shitter at 46.
  15. Curt should shut up. After all we know the Yankees problems are only due to injuries, that Joba had become the most dominant starter in baseball before his injury, that he and Wang are better than Lester and Beckett, and blah, fkn blah. All kidding aside, I'd prefer Curt DID shut the f up, but he won't...and his comments aren't far from the truth.
  16. So, perhaps the hottest offensive commodity this off-season was Marion Hossa...and where does he land? Right...the f***ing Detroit Red Wings. How do they get these guys and stay under the cap? Jeezus H, if I'm an owner, I know what team I'm modeling my organization after.
  17. Except this one guy at the gym I go to. He was pissed, he said he thinks Murray can score 30 goals again for a couple of years. I said "not with the B's he can't." I see him landing with someone under a 1 year deal, a team that needs some PP and/or 2nd line scoring, but doesn't expect too much from him. He ain't gonna play good, two-way hockey for you, he doesn't have the skating skills for that. The playoffs last year were the straw the broke the camel's back for me...no goals, no assists 2 PIMS in 7 games. That's f***ing terrible....in fact, it's Lapointe-ish production!!!
  18. And tix start at less than $20 up in the nose bleed section! I'm bound to see a couple games this year.
  19. I know interest in the B's isn't real high here, but for those of you, like me, who still follow them, I thought I'd start a thread for the '08-'09 campaign. First thoughts...the B's big off-season signings? Stephane Yelle and Michael Ryder. Yelle won two cups with The Avs...but he's 34 and coming off a 3 goal, 9 assist regular season in 74 games last year. Not much to get excited about. As for Ryder, he was a very pedestrian 14G, 17A in 70 games with the Habs last year, but I have to admit that when the B's play the Habs in the playoffs, I always felt he was a going concern. He netted 30 goals each of the 2 prior seasons. I like him, he could be a big part of this team, but I've got to question whether he was worth $4m per year for 3 years. A couple of positives...the Bruins should get Bergeron back this year, although anytime someone is out THAT long with a head injury I wonder if they'll ever be the same. Also, the B's will see the return of Manny Fernandez, who cost them in the range of $4m last year but was out for the season. Guys to watch? #1 has got to be Milan Lucic, who played as close to a Neely-type role as anyone on the B's has since Neely's departure. At 19 he had more guts than just about anyone on last years squad. Didn't have a ton of goals or points, but the skills and balls are there. Should be interesting to see how he develops.
  20. or try the craps table, preferably a cheaper table if you can get near it, and play pass/no pass...you'll piss off the rest of the players, but too ficking bad, and you'll hang in longer and might make some modest bucks. Very modest. I love when someone is playing blackjack and the f***er after them complains when someone hits on a non-hit situation and it takes "his card"...but when thy hit and it pays off for him, he says nothing. These mother f***ers have never taken stats courses, apparently, and if they complained to me I'd laugh in their face. One reason I stay sway from blackjack.
  21. 10 hits and 14 walks in 11 1/3 innings of work since the trade. If I'm right that is a WHIP of 2.12. Bwahahahahahahaha!
  22. Foxwoods loves guys like you.
  23. IMO, absolutely...be it a specific 6 man rotation or simply spot starts to rest the key arms I think it's something Tito has done in the past and will do again this year.
