  1. He's not an idiot. Far from it, in fact.
  2. I'd argue that those quotes could mean "we HAVE to look into it...but we ain't found s***" or even "what a f***ing waste of our time, all generated by some pompous NYT writer with a vendetta"
  3. So let's say. regardless of whether Manny gets traded or not, the "bad blood" continues (that is Manny continues commenting on how he's unappreciated, etc and the media runs with it) and Manny hits the FA market after this season. Would this not be EXACTLY what the Yankees (and their fans) want to see, in terms of being able to point to the Sox in whatever negative manner possible (since they're clearly obsessed with Boston), and perhaps provide the Yankees even more of a reason to acquire Manny? Could it be that Manny is painting the Sox FO in a bad light to increase his chances of landing in the Bronx?
  4. I urge all of the Sox fans here not to take the bait...this is Gom being Gom, at his inciteful best. I'm not sure even HE believes what he wrote here. :thumbdown
  5. Seems to me a previous Sox trade of an apparently disgruntled superstar worked out pretty damn well, at least in the near term, for the team.
  6. Meanwhile, a guy like Dave Roberts, who was a class act all the way, was not only treated very well by the FO but is still revered by the fans....despite the fact that his body of work pails in comparison to the superstars you're referring to. Could one surmise that the Sox FO and fan base both appreciate, and reward, teamwork, attitude, character, etc. in addition to performance?
  7. and Youk just may be more valuable than Tex to begin with, all things considered.
  8. great. now you've done it. someone's getting ejected tonight.
  9. This is unfortunate...now we won't get to see Posada block the plate on close plays for the rest of the year... oh, my bad, that's right...he doesn't block the plate.
  10. Or Brokeback Bayou.
  11. What curse? You honestly did not ever believe there was a curse, did you? That does sound quite ridiculous.
  12. Thanks Hawk, this is exactly where I was going...but I couldn't find a lot on just who the Bucs supposedly wanted from the Sox. I'm of the opinion that the stated wish list of the Pirates is much higher than the actual return they received and it doesn't surprise me in the least. We've seen this occure all too frequently in recent years.
  13. Prior to the trade, Olney was on ESPN and was saying that the price for both Marte and Nady had fallen considerably. As I recall he never said WHY. Assuming the Sox really were pursuing Marte, it would be interesting to see what the Pirates were allegedly asking for in return from the Sox...might give more support to what many of us see as the Yankees consistently giving up less for more.
  14. 3 Hrs this year. What power. Also he's played 47 of the 55 games he's been in at 2B, not SS. At $4.5m per year, I believe: f*** this guy and the raft he floated in on.
  15. Wow, that .294 OBP is very impressive! Funny thing is it's actually BETTER than his 06 and 07 marks. Fuk this alleged deal.
  16. I'd argue that the low hits against are to some extent a product of his being "effectively wild." If the walks decrease dramatically, I suspect the hits against would increase a bit. Of course 3.5 per BBs start (when he isn't going deep into games, typically) is way too high to keep getting away with.
  17. Hey, who told me this was a chick? I'm getting duped all over the place, and not just by giving the benefit of the doubt to Negative Nelly. Someone get this fkn thread back on track, eh?
  18. He, she, it...couldn't give a rat's ass, really. The poster gave an opinion and tried to support it with the Sox away W-L record, and concluded that she was concerned. Sounds like a reasonable post. I haven't investigated this person's other 50 posts, so I can't comment on the alleged chronic pessimism.
  19. Why is he dumb? Sox are 22-32 on the road at this point and I think what the poster is saying is that there is no reason, at this point, for him to assume they'll suddenly play better away from the Fens. I'd say it's a valid concern, although the Sox remaining schedule is favorable and I don't think the Sox are really a .407 W% team away from home either.
  20. A simple no would have sufficed. However I appreciate your efforts above.
  21. "He has all the tools that is for sure" "This guy sounds legit. He's got a chance to be a huge star" Have you all made that determination based on the information presented in this thread?
