    I think the smartest thing to do if Clemens comes back his to have him start. Keep papelbon as closer for another year. Schilling Clemens Beckett Matsuzaka Wakefield If Theo gets someone like Gil Meche for the back end of the rotation, then Wakefield can move to the pen.

    In a market where Frank Thomas can get $9 mil/year, and Jamie Walker can get $4mil/yr, I think paying Lugo between 9-10 million isn't that bad. edit - Then again I haven't seen what he's been asking for. The last deal I ehard was 4 yrs and somewhere b/t 36-40 mil.

    Yeah that trade for a backup catcher killed when most of the starting rotation was on the DL this year. Or the fact the bullpen sucked.

    I'll say it again, any time you make personnel decisions based on what they do against the Yankees you;re asking for trouble. I wouldn't mind Loretta back, but I will not tolerate the combo of Loretta/Lowell coming back. If we get Aramis Ramirez to play 3rd/1st, then Loretta can stay and keep 2nd warm for Pedroia.
