  1. LOL.
  2. Wang is a very solid pitcher and would love to have him on the Red Sox. THAT BEING SAID, his peripherals show that he shouldn't have as lofty stats as he does, and that it's possible he could revert back to the mean. A guy with that few strikeouts could possibly give up a lot of runs. I'm not saying he will, but for me anyway, I get the impression he walked a bit of a tightrope last year. If some of those grounders find holes he could revert. I think the enthusiasm for Matsuzaka is expected because of his potential, but I also think that we should see what he's got before declaring him an ace. Myself, I'm very excited to think what he can do, and I hope he becomes a better pitcher than Wang. I also think the enthusiasm is centered around the Sox grabbing the rights to negotiate with the best pitcher on the FA market this year.
  3. Betimit would most likely play first and you slide Youk back to third, and try to spin Lowell for some BP help. With the current state of the market Manny Ramirez's contract looks like a steal. It's a bargain to have someone like that for $17 millionish a year. Plus, they would for sure send over some money. Again, I think similar to the Betimit situation, if we send Manny + cash + pitching prospect we can keep Youk at third and spin Lowell for BP help. I also see no reason why SD would trade that much for Manny though.
  4. I still think not signing Damon to that kind of money was the right move. I think the difference between the market last year and the market this year is that if Damon was a free agent this year, he'd be getting Carlos Lee type money. I do think that Crisp will improve on his 2006 season once his hand is fully healthy. I also remember that Damon, when he first came to Boston, he didn't set people's hair on fire with his stats. 2002 Games - 154 Avg. - .286 HR - 14 RBI - 63 OBP - .356 SLG - .443 2003 Games - 145 Avg. - .273 HR - 12 RBI - 67 OBP - .345 SLG - .405 Compare that to Crisp's 2006: Games - 105 Avg. - .264 HR - 8 RBI - 36 OBP - .317 SLG - .385 I do agree that Crisp will never be as big of an OBP guy as Damon, but I see no reason why he can't be a .285/15/75 type player when healthy, in fact I think he has the potential to be better than that. Crisp is not as good as Damon right now, but I do think the two will be comparable in the coming years. Maybe not next year, but two or three down the road. Edgar Renteria 2004 - .287/10/72/.327/.401 (AVG/HR/RBI/OBP/SLG) Edgar Renteria 2005 - .276/8/70/.335/.385 He OPS'd .728 in '04, and .720 in '05. The difference between the two years is he had a terrible defensive year, hurt his back, and never got back into playing shape. But he essentially had identical offensive years in '04 and '05.
  5. Manny for Kemp, Broxton, and Betemit is pretty solid, actually.
  6. You're pushing Igawa and you don't think Matsuzaka is MLB caliber? haahhahahahaahahahahahaha
  7. $200 million for a first round playoff shellacking? Hot damn.
  8. If Barajas is available, SIGN HIM.
  9. Are you f***ing serious?
  10. The only deal i like there is the Dodgers one. Not "like", but would understand.
  11. Crawford's under their control for 4 more years though (I think), he's cost effective, and as people have said he could have netted a better pitcher than Mark Buehrle. Like I said before, IF TRUE, it's a complete steal for the White Sox.
  12. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06331/741513-63.stm This was a guy I would have liked to see the Sox make a run at. The bullpen market gets thinner and thinner.
  13. Absolute steal for the White Sox if it's true. Say what you want about Buerhle, but Crawford is a top 10 outfield talent who is cost controlled over the next couple of years. Great pickup.
  14. Wow. Week and a half late.
  15. What are your thoughts on Brian Cashman?
  16. So what happens when those same scouts predict success for Matsuzaka? Does that also not mean he's likely to have success?
  17. Would it be enitrely unreasonable to compare Japanese ball to AAA ball? All I hear from Yankee fans is how MLB caliber Hughes will be and how big of an ace he'll be for years to come, but has he thrown a pitch? Is Phillip Hughes MLB caliber?
