  1. It's nice having a rookie goaltender who doesn't play like one. And I was making a joke about Versteeg. I know the Bruins had him....it was an wful trade.
  2. Why can't the Bruins get guys like that?
  3. theo saw and still sees the writing on the wall for this season. his team is old and cannot compete with the more dynamic teams in his division. too bad, too...this is going to be a long summer once the Celtics and Beuins are done.
  4. Exactly. they also gave long term deals to Pedroia and if rumors are to be believed they are working on a deal for Papelbon. it's an unecesary shot at Theo just because the team is struggling. and since when is Lowell a colorful character? he was a walking cliche until he got benched. I miss Manny too but he wouldn't have been much help last year seeing as he was suspended 50 games and all.
  5. SCM, do you honestly believe that or did you get those talking points from the mouth breathers on WEEI like Glen Ordway and Gerry Callahan?
  6. Thanks, Captain Obvious. And Dojji, another "Start Thomas" thread? You're rapidly becoming a parody of even yourself.
  7. Rumor has it the Caps and Bruins had a deal in place for Thomas at the deadline but it was called off, either by the Bruins pulling it back or by Thomas not waiving his NMC. I think this proves there is a market for Timmy but I've gotta wonder why they didn't pull the trigger.
  8. I think it was a pretty weak call myself but let's not say the Caps got screwed, they lost because of their ineffectiveness on the PP and the fact thatt they could not solve Halak. Caps can't say the refs screwed them in this series. They lost games 5 and 6 to put themselves in this position anyway.
  9. Bruins in 5. No Gagne, no Carter, Boucher turns back into a pumpkin.
  10. Well done Coach If the Habs are feeling generous they might as well knock Crosby out too.
  11. I didn't say trade him for nothing. Isaid trade him for something that isn't another expensive contract. I wouldn't be shocked if the return is only a 2nd or a 3rd round pick.
  12. I agree with Dojji that Thomas can be moved ( JS Giguere got moved this season, that's evidence enough)...but I do not want them to take Gagne back. They need to clear cap room for Lucic's bump in salary, and whatever Colborne/Caron/Hall-Seguin/Sauve and whomever else they need to resign (Wheeler, Stuart, Seidenberg) I think the only way they can do that is by trading Thomas and Ryder, and not take any big contract back. Will be tough.
  13. first off, Dojji, you're absolutely insane...odds are the EC winner has to go through Pittsburgh regardless, so I'd rather have it be in the conference finals. second, there is no correlation between this years team and last years whatsoever, and you can look at the guy in goal as the primary reason. this team simply plays better in frnt of Rask - Recchi said as much in an interview on WEEI last week. Called Rask the best young goaltender hes seen (paraphrasing). For a guy who played with Cam Ward during the Canes cup run, thats impressive. third, the Habs ca absolutely win tonight's game. Halak is arguably the best goalie left in the East (maybe over Rask) and he can absolutely steal one. Go Habs Go
  14. Too many men on the ice? This team is f***ing rattled. Bruins win Game 5.
  15. so you didn't start a thread on HF advocatin Thomas start game 3? And any conversation about Thomas's play begins and ends with that contract. Goalies who make the coin he does do not get pulled as often as he did since Jan 1. Goalies who make that kind of coin should ot have to worry about playing time. You know what's hilarious? If Rask started all of the games Thomas was pulled from, you could make the case for him being a Vezina finalist. A Craig Anderson/Rask platoon would be pretty good and cost significantly less....and that could have been had in the offseason.
  16. Dojji - can you give me an example of a team splitting time between two goaltenders in the playoffs, especially considering how well Rask has played over the course of the year and in the series to this point? If it's such a good idea, there's gotta be historical precedent to it, right?
  17. This is exceedingly weak. Don't go around saying that there were better options available when you cannot even name one. If you can't bring more to the table than "trade for someone better!!!11!" then you're just bitching for the sake of bitching, which gets tiresome to read and brings the quality of the board down.
  18. Wow, you would have gotten me for a typo when i post from my phone. Good on you, sir. Are you going to sit there and tell me this was a fun team to watch before last night's game? Pardon me for not being ecited about a team that can't hit, field, or pitch and that I might want to watch a more exciting sport instead. You're eright though - sad life I lead.
  19. Dont worry you old broad, I'm not. Watching playof hockey instead.
  20. The Red Sox aren't worth GameDaying right now let alone watching.
  21. Your irrational love of Tim Thomas is astounding. In a sport with a salary cap, you advocate AND STILL DEFEND the contract of a goalie who takes up about 9% of said cap and can't even sniff the ice in pivotal games down the stretch or in the playoffs. Why? Because you know as well as anyone else that the future of this franchise in between the pipes is taking center stage right now and he is absolutely blowing everyone away. He is currently going blow for blow with the guy who's going to win the Vezina this season and he's winning. And I love how you contradict yourself as well. You call Rask a guy with "a puncher's chance to be Patrick Roy" and also compare him to Andrew Raycroft. Which is it? Did Andrew Raycroft ever lead the league in save percentage AND GAA? It really is noble, though, how you're so willing to go down with the ship. Bravo.
  22. What happens if the Sox are sitting at 41-40 at the halfway point and are ~8 games out of a playoff spot? They don't have that long to wait. They need to be proactive....I think if this doesn't turn around by mid-May Theo's going to have to do something drastic. I hope that doesn't mean emptying the farm system for Gonzalez but it very well might.
