  1. Now I could be wrong but I think Mr. Rhet is trying to make a point.
  2. As Lee Corso would say, not so fast my friend. UConn responds with a 16-4 run.
  3. I don't even care what your explanation is. Your track record speaks for itself.
  4. Gonzalez is not a great defender, so that point is moot. And if you pimp defense this much, I find it funny that you advocate Tejada. He's a better player than Gonzalez and was in the midst of an excellent year (some call it a career year, but I digress) and would have filled a need. I mean, I cannot see why there is so much hand wringing over this signing. 2/11 is chump change.
  5. Really? Sub .300 OBPs are way past suck. We've seen this play before. Who pined for Scutaro? I simply don't understand what the hand wringing is over this deal, saying "IT'S THA WORST EVAHHHH" or anything like that. He's an average player. If he can be average offensively and defensively, it will give the Sox something they haven't had in 5 years. Not too difficult to grasp. Overrated. Pretty sure they gained a compensatory pick for Wagner as well.
  6. Lackey Soriano Gonzalez
  7. No, it isn't. Not for a team who thinks it can contend in 2010 for a title. It will be a third rounder in two weeks.
  8. didn't you just answer your own question?
  9. lol AGon could supply something with the stick? What's that?
  10. lol pining for Adam Everett lol lol
  11. f***ing Christ I'm f***ing tired of the Drew argument. At this point, it's a baseball litmus test for me.
  12. Completely cherry picked The .747 OPS in 2006 in OAKLAND in 117 games counts for nothing, Mr. "Matt Holliday suffered from a terrible hitting environment for the early part of 2009"?
  13. And if the Sox go out and sign Lackey and Holliday, the pick becomes their 3rd rounder. If they sign one of them, it's their second rounder. If Cabrera was thought to be a fit in Boston, he would have stayed after 2004, wouldn't he have?
  14. If he puts up a .750 OPS and plays league average defense, are you REALLY going to be upset about that for $5 million?
  15. Wonder what the values are for both sides, then.
  16. Especially if the reports of 2/10 are true. I mean, this team paid Alex f***ing Cora $2 million to be the backup infielder. You wanna talk pure suck....talk Cora.
  17. By all means, do so. I also thought the Varitek deal was OK last offseason. I think you really underestimate how bad Tejada's defense is and how bad Cabrera's offense has become. You're embarrassing yourself pining for these players and ridiculing Scutaro, especially when Scutaro had the best season of all three last season.
  18. Where the hell are you seeing reports for $9m AAV?
  19. You do realize we gained a first round pick when the Braves signed Wagner, right? That was a pick that no one banked on even though he pitched well for the Sox. I think it's hilarious you're pining for Tejada and Cabrera, and saying Scutaro sucks. They really aren't all that different, and Scutaro performed in the AL East. If the 3rd year is a team option and not a player option, I'm on board with the deal. 2/10 for a league average SS is worth it.
  20. lol, mlbtraderumors. Besides, he's had a .730 OPS since 2005. Who was the last Red Sox shortstop to have a .730 OPS for a full season? I'm not crazy about the player, but if he can give them league average production (something they haven't had since Nomar) at a reasonable cost, what's the harm?
  21. So, what you're saying is, he's league average defensively and offensively? Do you realize how much of an improvement that would be over the 2009 team?
