True but is he worth that contract? A lot of guys could be 30 home run hitters with that playing time, but it's what he lacks that makes you question his contract.

I'd be interested in that trade if we could turn around and acquire an Andruw Jones or Vernon Wells type player. If we dealt Manny w/o acquiring a legitimate hitting threat, our lineup would be pretty weak come April. Teams would just avoid pitching to Ortiz.

Ridiculous contract but if there's one ex-Red Sox I'd like to see cash in like that, it would be him. Hopefully he can stay healthy and have a productive 3 years in San Francisco.

Low Risk-Potentially decent reward. It's nice to see them make a signing where they aren't dishing out a max contract to a one hit wonder (Richie Sexson, Adrian Beltre).

I doubt that Pau will be traded. I credit Danny for trying because he could really help this team but I don't see why Memphis would trade Pau at this point.

I'd love to see Putz as our closer next year. The man is absolute money but it seems highly unlikely that they'd deal him. Gagne is an interesting possibility and he could be a low risk-high reward acquisition.

I hope he can but it's not likely. He was never a great athlete and he isn't getting any younger. I wouldn't expect a big comeback season and also his risk of injury is higher. Hopefully the catcher we acquired from SD is the real deal.
