  1. rookies tend to break down a little bit at the end of the year.
  2. johnathan broxton weighs about 280. he's still a hell of a pitcher.
  3. Scaff, i remember you from sox prospects, didn't realize this is where you ran off to, just a few questions. . . . since beltre and tejada are starting in the GCL, who would you say they're most similar to, either prospects or major leaguers? they're both 16 right? what do you see as a time table for venezuela shutting down their boarders, cuba-style? speaking of the GCL, will jason place start there or will he start in greenville, since it's closer to his home?
  4. I def like the idea of Putz, but not for Manny. :thumbdown I don't see Rincon as an option for closing, but I definately like Mike Gonzalez. He's a power lefty and had success closing this year in Pitt. I hear Littlefield is impossible to deal with tho, so I don't know what it would take. You'd have to expect one of our pitching prospects, maybe sending Hasen/Delcarmen +.
  5. i'm not alone in thinking that buchholz could be a september callup in 07, as long as lancaster doesn't leave too strong a mark on him. I personally wouldn't mind starting him in greenville just until portland is warm enough to not affect him.
  6. Unless Peavy comes back, i don't see a deal with the Pads happening. Linebrink strikes me as your everyday Petco special, who had two really good years but really isn't much special. Adrian Gonzalez is interestin but not enough to trade manny for. if he is traded, i hope it's to the dodgers for ML ready players or at least players who would need just a little AAA seasoning. And i don't like loney as much as some might, he had a .401 BABIP in AAA this year.
  7. Good package, but I'd prefer at least one Major leaguer. Only Carmona is ready for the show, and he's not exactly the closer we need. Miller is good, but we've got a pretty stocked rotation as long as matsuzaka signs, and i understand the "you can never have too much pitching," but i wouldn't trade manny for depth. Crowe has potential to be a serious offensive threat either at CF or 2b, where ever you put him, but once again, he's not MLB ready, and thus not helping the 07 Sox. I really feel that unless it helps the 07 sox, it doesn't make sense to trade manny. my hunch? they'll hold on to him, go for it in schillings, possibly wakefields, timlins, etc last year, then maybe try to shop him as a one year $19mil lf/dh, which could bring even more than this year, depending on how the market for power outfielders looks.
  8. Hey all, lifetime sox fan, born and raised in NY. I've been following seriously since 2003, and have learned more than i ever thought possible thru reading SOSH and SoxProspects, and i know more about the rest of the league than should be healthy. . . I'm a moderator at a Yankee forum tho (don't ask how i got that gig, it's a long story. it's a good site tho, if you're interested, i'll give you the link, just please don't troll). I love the minors, nothing is more exciting than thinking/talking about ellsbury patrolling center with one of bowden/buchholz/bard/cox/martinez/jackson/johnson/masterson/doubront on the mound throwing to kottaras. . . makes me drool. I love watching the games, but i also enjoy the front office actions just as much. Signings, trades, drafts, all of it. I'm pro-manny, pro-drew (as long as manny stays), and pro-pena, but i do love coco, but he'd be the first to go in my book. As you may be able to tell, I do like having a young team, so Theo is the perfect GM for me. That's about it, --TiB
