  1. Appearently you didn't watch the playoffs, you know...the games that actually count. Derek Lowe's Game 1 Line vs. Mets: 5.1 IP, 4 ER, 6.75 ERA....Dodgers Lose.
  2. Can't say I understand the obsession with this guy. 2003 ERA: 4.47 2004 ERA: 5.42 Secret Affairs: 1 Alcohol Problems: Many Those were his final two years with the red sox. Sure, he had a few nice playoff performances and it was classy of him to return for the WS celebrations on opening day 2005 but was he really great enough to bring back for that amount of money? He seems to be better suited in the national league.
  3. I completely agree with you on that one.
  4. Still no link to this thread...just putting that out there.
  5. For the money they're paying, you would assume there would be less question marks and "ifs", but it's not a big deal. As long as our key players perform and a few of the younger players and newly acquired players step up, we should be in good shape. Also, the only thing that I'm slightly bothered by is the Sox fans that whine and moan when the Yankees spend money and claim to hate the yankees for that reason when the Sox are doing the same thing just at a slightly lower level.
  6. I really don't understand this trade for Seattle.
  7. I think you have L.A and Seattle mixed up.
  8. I have my doubts that the FO will find an offer that is close to fair value.
  9. Manny is one of the greatest pure hitters in the game and unless we can acquire Jones, Loney, and Billengsley or some incredible package, he should be on the Red Sox next year because he is a perfect fit for this team.
  10. Exactly. I don't know how anyone could say that Andruw Jones is less valuable in a trade in this situation. Not saying he puts up better offensive numbers or that he's a better fit for this team, but there's no way that Jones is less valuable in a trade.
  11. I've always liked Donnelly. He would be a solid option for the bullpen and at worst, he is much better than some of the bums that resided in our pen last year.
  12. Must be tough being a Giants fan these days.
  13. I would rather have Manny on this team, but if I was starting a MLB franchise, Manny would not be the player that I would build around. His hustle and defense leaves a lot to be desired and constant headaches follow him everywhere he goes. Nevertheless, at the end of the day, his hitting outweighs the negative impact and he forms an impossible 3-4 combo with Ortiz.
  14. A. Jones=More Valuable in a trade. Manny=More Valuable to this team.
  15. Please not Mirabelli again. Let's go for a Hall/Barajas type backup.
  16. Agreed. I say keep him unless we can get an extraordinary deal such as the idea with Jones, Loney, and Broxton. The point is that it is unlikely that we can ever get equal value for Manny, taking into consideration what he means for this team. Breaking up one of the greatest 3-4 combos in the history of baseball to acquire Brad Penny and a prospect who might be good or might not would be very disappointing and it would be the wrong road to take, in my opinion.
  17. Cubs are really interested in him and it appears that he'll be leaving the AL East for Chicago (thank god).
  18. Because I can. If you want it to be private, send a PM.
  19. I thought the same thing as you when I first saw it.
  20. Refrain from ordering around members that have been here much longer than you have when you just joined today.
  21. It says the biggest pitching FA prize so far.
  22. The situation in the "Who gets manny padres or dodgers" thread is getting really weird. I think we have to get rid of some of these weirdos.
