You see Clemens quote to a Houston TV station? Paraphrasing, "My family is warming up to the idea, and physically I am close, but I am nowhere close mentally". I am so sick of his little game, he is trying to play us all like a fiddle.
4 million a month for a total of 20 million for the season would require Roger to be playing right now, since the season has just under 5 months to go. Not exactly "half a season" since it is only a month old right now.
Well it is a little tough to back up his value behind the plate with stats. But I guess we can compare how his pitchers do. Pedro does look good so far this year, but he had some pretty damn good years with the Sox and 'Tek. Lowe hasn't done much since leaving Boston, so I don't see your point there. Though Arroyo pitched well at times in Boston, I think his success in Cincy is due to being in a less pressure environment.
My point is that his pitches themselves look great (definitely better than league average). The quality of his pitches should have nothing to do with who he is facing. Whether he can keep it up over the course of the whole season remains to be seen.
