    Verlander isn't technically hurt right now. The Tigers just skipped a start to keep his innings down since he has never pitched more than a 150 innings in a season. That said, I think if Verlander keeps up his pace and gets 20 wins for the best team in baseball he will be a lock for ROY and be in the top 3 or 4 for the AL Cy Young.

    not to nitpick, but it was 'closer by committee' back in 03, not bullpen. All bullpens are a committee.

    Ya, Damon was a bad example. I know you are against trading Trot and I think Trot deserves better than being traded in mid season...especially for a guy like Abreu. If he was in a trade for a good pitcher (ie Schimdt, Smoltz) I MAY be able to understand it, but not for Abreu.

    It's funny how we get on players for their lack of loyalty (ie Damon), but the second there is a possibility of trading our longest tenured Sox (Nixon) people starting jumping up and down wanting to do it. I can't really blame players for jumping ship for more money when they have a chance.

    I was at this game and here are a few thoughts: 1. I got Beckett's autograph!! (he was the only Sox player that signed, and he did for almost 1/2 hour) 2. Detroit fans need to learn to win with class. They were really rubbing it in as we left the park. 3. Is Nixon always so intense during a game. We were sitting in the 1st row of the RF stands, and we could not get him to look up at us no matter what. Magglio was looking up and smiling all the time. Just wonderin' if Trot is a jerk, or just really intense. 4. Why can't we score when Wake pitches???
