Theo's Contract is Up After the Season, You Worried?
Mr Crunchy replied to BoSox21's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
hes also young and perhaps has an inflated value of himself that comes with ending 86 yr droughts and delivering 2 titles to the most fanatical baseball city this side of santo domingo. he may indeed want more money and more of a role in a place that needs help. hes also from brookline which is a stones throw from the park, hed be a f***ing idiot if he moved on but who knows... he isnt the only factor in winning gentlemen. our talent evaluators have drafted incredibly well in all facets and at every position. our 19 member ownership group has shown its commitment to winning by spending what it takes. the club has also been incredibly lucky in these players development by somehow avoiding the injuries and criminal behavior that stunts growth. and dont sell the fans short either we have filled that dump up for 5 years running, sitting in seats built for 1912 asses, braving the elements in april and october and forking over our money to pay for the highest tickets in baseball. theo dont pitch, hit or field he does some good things and it appears he has some decent people skills. so if he wants to move on to greener pastures i say all the power to him, this wont effect us in any way shape or form... larry lucchino is the baseball guy who calls the shots behind the scenes. in a nutshell.... keeping the scouting team intact ,spending the money to compete each year and staying healthy are more important to our success than theo epstein is. -
tek cant bitch about an offer like that and i am sure he has enuff cash in his pocket to run his armadillo farm in bumble f*** georgia tom bc opens tomm are you making a trip down for a game or what?

sox match up better in the 5 game set with becks going twice. i think the angels match up better in a 7 game set because their starters are slightly better than ours but they dont have THE 1 that we got. lots of 2s but no one like becks(assuming becks is healthy) -
y'all think theres a big market for a 37 yr old catcher whos hitting .220 with little power? and by market i mean a team thats going to step up and drop 40M on him? who has that coin? the dodgers??Frank Mccourt is going to try and keep manny, that will eliminate him from the tek sweepstakes as he has some fiscal issues of his own. anaheim is set, chicagos are set and the yanks are set,the mets wont pay tek either. so how many teams will persue him with the zest and vigor it will take to get him out of boston? his options will be limited

the skins havent had an offense in years,Jason Campbell sucks . Colt Brennan actually looked pretty good in the pre season, they have no reason not to give him a pop.

thats how i feel the rays are a good team that has a lot of balance and plays great team defense. that said the studs they do have are banged up,their pitching,as solid as its been is essentially untested and the road thru september takes them all over the place which isnt their forte based on their record. they have the advantage but i like our position and our schedule -

i think the rays will implode and we have 6? with them,we control our own destiny so to speak. the wild card lead is up to 4 or 5 is it? the rays have a brutal september in front of them and their arms are untested under this kind of extreme pressure, i do think we'll catch them. their best player, longoria is out their other stud crawford is out rocco is back but he hasnt seen much baseball in 3 years...on the other hand..... ny isnt dead until theyre dead, i dont want them in a position where it matters to them under any conditions. in your deepest darkest hours it isnt tampa that frightens you and it isnt tampa that ruined fall for many of us... ny is still in this s*** fight and although it looks grim for them their bats are capable of smoking anyone anytime.... i am confident but id prefer them dead in the water,no life,no hope, nothing to play for. nothing san diego and the mets had big leads in mid september last year and gagged them away. i dont need to remind anyone what happened to us in 1978 either. this goes against conventional thought.... i am aware of this but i dont fear the rays,i think the angels peaked too soon and the central teams arent a worry either....i will think normal thoughts when ny is out of it officially, till then i want them to lose each game. -

f*** ny i hope they lose isnt it ironic that pavano has suddenly emerged as a keeper for this staff? does cashman offer him a deal in the offseason or do the sox step in and give this guy 15M for 3 years and watch him win 15*18 next year? -

after watching tampa the last 2 evenings i am of the mindset that they are almost out of gas. this is opinion of course but they had some defensive blunders and bonehead plays that werent being made last month. they got 8 games in florida in september? we may catch them but thats not my concern,my concern is in our play and once again we rallied from the jaws of defeat to win a late inning game. -
think about the guys who walked or were let go millar arroyo damon petey manny ocab hanley attempting to move crisp. we spent 19M for 1 season of renteria,36M for 18 months of lugo rather than signing ocab. its an IBM environment, all the guys who were goofy and were outspoken are gone, replaced with good ball players but corporate types like lowell and the gutty jd drew... any personality that differs from the prototype was moved or allowed to move on. sure they have a few left like paps lowrie pedroia and ortiz but we got pedroia at the league minimum and paps is ours for a few years due to his age. could be my imagination but when i look at the 04 club and compare it to the 07 club there was only 2 ""idiots"" left and now we're down to 1

going into 2005 we dumped arroyo knowing that schilling was out for the season and pedro was in queens.. we did make the playoffs in 2005,i was at game 3 when el duque got out of a bases loaded jam in the 6th? inning with no one out. the 2005 staff was deep? for the sake of atgument... matt clement wade miller john halama wakefield lenny dinardo david wells oh my god who else matt mantei mike remlinger, blaine fkn neil and the late geromi gonzales. the injury that i recall was schilling being hurt but that was in the previous october and we knew hed be gone for a long long time, wells at 42 had knee trouble but he was essentially our ace that year. paps came on in july and i think hansen followed shortly thereafter. 2 men over 40,6 off the waiver wire and a free agent in clement who was a .500 career pitcher. and we still made the playoffs that year... dumping arroyo ,who by all signs was coming along great drove me absolutley batshit, especially since wmpena went 10000% against their offensive philosophy by k'ing at a rate that would make adam dunn rob deere and dave kingman blush. i understand the concept of taking a gamble but dont gamble with a young pitcher who was pretty good for you and showed very good upside and was dirt cheap. its much better these days knowing pretty much who your pitchers are every day and 2005 was still blurry due to the 6 month world series party we had but i still am pissed at epstein for dumping that guy for a bloated bag of s*** who did some great things at bp

cinci blows, their bullpen blows and i could hit 25hrs in that park. inning eaters are valuable. arroyo is what he is,a guy who is a mediocre pitcher that eats innings and isnt adverse to the big scene,he is the guy who threw inside on arod and started what amounted to be the change in direction for both franchises,he took the home town discount because he loved boston and was promptly ass raped by theo and dumped to the reds for a guy who would struggle making the drunk league softball team... i like arroyo, hes a goofy prick that seems like hes always having fun. we cant have those guys around fenway anymore for whatever reason.

Manny Ramirez Trade Deadline Thread (renamed)
Mr Crunchy replied to TheKilo's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
manny hit 350 in july for us and now hes facing AAAA pitchers on suck teams rather than the american leagues vastly superior pitching. joelle piniero is beating people up in the nl,he was cut here chris carpenter won a cy young in st louis when he was in toronto he was what we called one of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse along with dave burba joey hamilton and rick helling, every game these guys pitched we bet over and cleaned up most every time...he goes to st louis and wins a cy young? hillarious this is reason #1 why manny is pounding the ball -

Mr Crunchy replied to ARod2212's topic in Other Baseball
gom does have a point when he mentions the yanks have more signees that need t/j surgery than those who dont....thats a page out of the sox old book, that and some mysterious injuries like candle burnings, soft liners off the elbow in the same spot twice and then those who went insane. in case nobody noticed bronson arroyo is pitching well again for the reds -

5.5 out of the division lead going into sept isnt insurmountable but it is grim. id prefer they do as much coasting as possible,we'll need to beat anaheim anyways, why not in the 1st round as we usually do? a rested becks lester and dice k along with the bullpen is essential wake is exhausted and maybe hurt as well. we got drew lowell and casey back this month, paul byrd is giving us exactly what we expected and this is also huge.... Is it possible the halo's peaked too early? ya it is but theyve owned us all year so they deserve to be labeled the favorites,i just refuse to annoint them anything until the games are played -
fullmer will keep any decent team close due to his pathetic coaching and lack of courage. a great weekend of college football but 1 that exposes the acc and the big east as frauds and a weekend that showed the world that the sec is still the best in the business. Bc opens this weekend at home against gtech,12 noon at chestnut hill. i like bc to surprise a lot of people this fall and win maybe 9 games.
-
the kid from the beavers drops the ball on the 1 going in. always beware of the compton factor in those west coast games. yours truly busts out of the gate playing wake forest and stanford, who was getting 3 at home. God help me i do love college football
-
becks is here till 2010 i believe? this will be a major block in our efforts to repeat,in fact it maybe the dagger. or he could have a hot nerve, sort of like swinging a hammer too long or for you country club types, tennis elbow... in any case lets hope it can be dealt with for 8 more starts this year
-
Hes hitting 280 with 64 rbi and the way hes bouncing back we wont see him till ft meyers. a banner f***ing year or a hot month kilo?
-
how can you continue to defend this guy kilo? are you blindly in love or are you working for his public relations firm? dont compare him to manny, this guy couldnt carry mannys jockstrap in the grand scheme of things manny looks like lou f***ing gherig compared to this guy. i dont care why he isnt on the field. i know youre a bright guy and can read,do yourself a favor and find another guy to idolize as this boy whether hes hurt or not just dont get on the field enuff to fullfill his potential. i'm not alone on this we all like his game,we just dont see enuff of it and if you think i am prick about this you should hear whats on the radio...

lowell is more consistant than drew they have similar #s in similar amount of time but drew packaged all his in the month of june while lowells been basically a .270 hitter all year.
-
santana doesnt seem to be as good as he once was. imagine the twins keeping liriano in AAA thru june while theyre battling for a pennant?? gardenhire must be considered the best manager in the game
-
with drews bruised cervix not responding to the estrogen treatments it was the best move available
-
mine too, cant blame the gm for 0-5s and bbs up the ass and jason giambi arguing a call while crisp scores from 2nd on a ground ball to 3rd... they seem lifeless damon is their spark and he did what he was paid to do last nite. the rest of the club looked disinterested, heartless and sort of like the french army guarding the maginot line in the spring of 1940 girardi deserves some of the ire here hes supposed to get the kids fired up and make the vets lead. i dont think the vets like him as many played with him when the yanks were a team hard to dislike, even for me...the bottom line is the vets dont like him and the kids tuned him out long ago, theyve achieved a cool dance when they hit hrs up 12-3 but competing while its on the line hasnt been their strong suit.
