why would you spend 200M on a guy who dont want to pitch for you,has thrown 1000ip in 4 years of pennant chases and looks like he ate david wells .... and for the record dont own the sox burnett is the better move in my opinion sheets cant stay healthy and this fall, his biggest chance to win as a pro,he got shut down when it mattered most. d lowe is a solid al 4th starter,he had been a horse in los angeles but the al east isnt confused with the nl west..hes capable of 15-20 wins with some o behind him in the bronx but hes also capable of a suck year..mentally challenged, lowe had been both the best and worst pitcher in boston but i think hes grown up a bit and i suspect he will be decent enuff in the a.l to fit a huge hole for the yanks. they need innings guys and a #1. lowe is innings but the #1? i dont like sabby and hes a dl in the making. happy thanksgiving everyone

cant trade him to the al east, cant trade him to anaheim or another contender so who would take on his 12M per and is in the cellar? Seattle? Kc? maybe the orioles? Consider this ******** cause he aint going anywhere until at least july if we're out of it.

cassell has made himself 8 figures for next year by playing outstanding football, hes not managing games, hes throwing for 400 yrds and running for 50. his mistakes are way down, he has taken over this offense and has confidence both running and throwing. another sign that bb has a tremendous grasp on who can do what on the field given the chance. no team uses their 53 man roster as effectively as the pats but with lil or no running game they really dont look like a team capable of advancing very far into january...plus their defense really sucks.

I find the west conference much deeper and after watching the playoffs last year i cant see a team in the east winning the whole thing...yet i dont watch enuff hockey to make an educated analysis but during the playoffs last year i saw bigger, faster and more aggressive hockey from the california teams as well as the wings, who have been the best in the league over the last 10 years. in the east you got Philly,a big physical team thats suited for playoff hockey pitt has the best player and in this sport 1 stud can really make a difference boston and montreal were after thoughts last year but the b's were banged up bad this year if they stay healthy, they mature together and play within themselves they could win the east i havent seen a west coast game yet.

theres low and then theres lower and then theres kelvin sampson low. its impossible to compete without playing the game so to speak this is why bobby knight has fallen from the earth,he actually made his kids study and go to class? the idea is just nauseating. you need the athletes, you can go to any playground in the memphis area and find 5 guys who can suit up and beat the piss out of north carolina right now.. the thing is out of the 5,3 cant read,1 has a murder charge pending and the other is a real bad egg who scares the coach. i am of the mindset that nolan richardson and jerry tarkanian were the best at bringing in the bad kids and making them better people but both lost their way over the years and it ended poorly for tarkanian who's last game was the NIT championship and his stud power forward assaulted 2 people with a samuri sword after the game. speaking of ugly look up nolan richardson and see if you can stare at his photo without going blind or turnign to stone.

The Bruins and Canadiens both appear to be legit in the east but i cant help but wonder come April if these 2 clubs have what it takes to make the run for Lord Stanley. I havent watched 10 regular season hockey games in 10 years but this Bruins team appears to be legit. Lots of balance, some guys who are play makers,a couple of snipers and decent goaltending has them about as high on the hog as theyve been since Neely retired. Lets hope they stay healthy as theres nothing around here quite like playoff when our guys are involved and have a legit shot at the whole thing.

sure kilo these guys show up from kenya, the congo, los angeles, the ukraine and all over america because of Storrs cultural benefits and the education they get after 18 months of taking aids awareness, phys ed and basket weaving 101... Dont be naive Calhoun is the best coach in America bar none but dont think for a moment hes lily white and clean as a whistle, hes just a bit smarter than the average coach.. Hes the guy who ratted Calipari and Marcus Camby out,not because he was ethical but because he got outbid and didnt like it. I love Calhoun but I dont believe in fairy tales. If it makes you feel better he doesnt have the biggest payroll in the school that honor belongs to Gino.

Yankees to make huge offer to Burnett
Mr Crunchy replied to jacksonianmarch's topic in Other Baseball
The sox have 19 different owners that make up this ownership group the yankees? they have hal and hank ""thanks dad"" steinberger, the 2 brothers appear to be either thalidimide babies or their real father is that banjo playing inbred from deliverence. our owners are in a business to earn money the yanks owners are in it for prestige and ego fullfillment due to the lack of substance in their pants. Since the sox have been the better team over the last 5 years the yankees have reacted to sox moves and not acted in their own interests, its really that simple. the yankees want to be the redsox, brian cashman masturbates with both hands dreaming of being theo, hal and hank want to be john henry and tom werner. sad isnt it the Yankee model for success has been reduced to following a city that is really like scranton with clams while henry, werner and the others spend a ton of cash to make the sox competetive, they dont have the resources the yankees have because of tv revenue and over 1m more in attendence each season and other issues that make the yankees the most profitiable franchise in sports. that said the managment, scouting and player development have made the sox the best in the business while the yankees figure out a way to spend 500M this offseason on guys who dont want to play in ny. the next few weeks should be revealing. -
Uconn will play better in march than theyre playing now because they have THE best coach in the nation. How he gets these kids to play in Storrs Ct is beyond me but he gets them just the same. Is it his payroll? Too bad Umass Providence and URI havent been able to keep up. There was a time when BC PC URI UMASS N.EASTERN AND UCONN were perrenial tournament teams. add in the occasional central connecticut or ivy league school and your talking 7 tourney teams in 100 square miles, those were the days.. Massachusetts hasnt produced any great hoop players in a long time

Seems everyone wants to build a fantasy team by letting go some winners, guys who are leaders, play thru pain, come thru in the clutch and deliver when it matters. Lowell is older, sure but is he done? Tek couldnt hit for s*** last year but is he finished?at 52M for 4 he is but i think he will get a grip and come back for something more reasonable but then again after giving half his money to his exwife?? a mill here and there may matter to him, i dont know. perhaps he should just hit from the right side where he hit at .280 i think, i can live with that. All these other guys that are mentioned as catchers are shiny but are they prepared to play 130 games in this environment? Texeira we are willing to offer this guy 175-200M to sign here? well i hope they get him because hes a real talent but .... Jesus Christ, youk had very similar #s and his defense takes a back seat to nobody, are we going to pay youkillis 150M as well?? id just assume give our guy the money and go balls deep for another pitcher,Burnett is extremely attractive in my eyes and his health issues aside, i find him to be the best pitcher on the market, better than sheets sabby and whoever else is out there. The Cubs gave Ryan Dempster 52m? Good, I hate the Cubs

bosox baldelli was an abuser since the summer before his senior year in high school. that s*** does things to your body that we dont even know about yet. Gom im not all giddy on crisp and i love pitching but this guy we got struggles against lefties and had his break out year at age 27 in kc...if he couldnt win the closers job in kc then he aint all that good, the #s arent breathtaking either...1.23 whip isnt what i want for the 8th inning, the era is ok but i dont know about inherited runners scoring...Timlin is done,he was a real pro here for a long time and was awesome down the stretch in 03-04... He deserves to be recognized for his efforts but he is indeed done.
-
You think if the Yankees had won the World Series, it would matter? Call me crazy..but players were lining up to play for the Yankees for the better part of 5 years. Clemens, Wells, Giambi....now? Gom in fairness to the panel you just named 3 of the biggest ****s in the game and men who are completely devoid of character, wells is ok and has some heart but the big tuff son of a hells angels mama got knocked out in a diner by a 5'3 guy named Rocco Gravalese
-
In all honesty i think sabby is a time bomb about to explode and even when he pitched for cleveland he never really frightened me...Id prefer burnett in fenway simply because of his success against ny over the years, theres no doubt that ny will be better this year but who they grab will matter the most.as a sox fan i like tex but hes too expensive and plays 1st...we have a guy who can rake at 1st already and lowell should be ready for april..sure,hes a player but that kind of coin?? i dunno, i dont see ny offerering him anything yet,as usual, they will set the market
-
Rocky Baldelli was a juice head big time, this explains his giambi/nomar like disappearance from the game but at least his dad dont have to be a 2nd story guy in woonsocket anymore which is very fortunate since they grabbed up 20 of his goombahs from the old patriacca klan over the weekend. i always liked rocco i am on a 1st name basis with his dad but i will call spades spades and roids f*** you up when you cant take them any longer, hopefully the boy can stay on the field for the rest of his career.

i too am in finance but i work in ahh recovery shall we say, patience is a virtue,in my line of work it gets me fired. crisp outplayed ellsbury last year. pedroia had a bad month his rookie year, ells had a bad year when they learned how to get him out. shedding salary? sending coco crisp down the road isnt exactly my idea of shedding salary, how much were we paying him?.6M??ok fair enuff but i dont think its too much compared to what we pay other scatine. theo is finally done paying renteria?? 19M for 1 year of the league leader in errors,10 hrs and a 270 average. then he goes and signs julio lugo to a 36M deal of which 18m is still owed?? that amounts to another bout of sheer f***ing stupidity from the boy wonder. too early to get pumped over this, the dust is sure to start settling around xgiving and into december and i am of the mindset that we aint done with tek just yet nor are we done exploring other avenues of interest.. i love our pitching as is now that bucholz is touchable and michael bowden officially on the table as well we can form a staff of 4studds with wake as the #5 and all we need is another 200ip guy and 80-100M. our offense will need work if ells cant lead off(this is essential) we may need to consider another lead off hitter,a guy who can hit .300,obp of .375 and steal 40 bases, ellsbury has to perform or we need to find someone who can, those options are few and far between once the season starts.
-
excellent reliever you say? hes better than timlin but lets see him perform under the brite lights and 35,000 screaming fans every day before we give him the cy young, masterson had that role towards the end of the year and didnt do all that bad. kansas city is a team on the rise, they could win 75 games this year. we had a weaker offense last year when manny left and still made game 7 of the pennant. if josh beckett pitched like he was capable perhaps wed be discussing a repeat,if jon lester had a little more than 1 run to work with...well you get the drift we needed to revamp the offense due to the lack of power we carry into this season. i figured crisp would be a part of that and the 4th outfielder in boston is essentially a starter based on our right fielder who averages 110 games a year, too early to decide whats what, lets wait for the dust to settle before we make judgments.
-
Who do we have as a 4th outfielder when jd drew breaks down? crisp played great d and hit .300 after the break and could run like a gazelle. if drew plays 145 games this wont be an issue, ellsbury needs to grow up a bit and learn how to hit the inside stuff theyve been feeding him,bay is solid as a rock. we will need a 4th outfielder none the less jacoby elsbury was a huge disappointment after may 15th
-
The redsox are vindictive pricks and always have been why bring this to the table now,hes been gone 4 months,if i can move on,if my 12 year old daughter can move on,theo and crew should move on as well...Nobody ever leaves here on good terms,it isnt just this ownership group but every owner theyve had in my life seems to shanghai players when they leave... No Wade Boggs day? No Jim Rice day? No Manny or Roger or Pedro day?? its in the water, the fens has always been full of *******s.
-
In any case its been a great ride for the big 12 schools ttech is getting justified respect, kansas has a good program and put together a few good years in a row,ou is ou, texas is texas, mizzou is dynamic and those cowboys at OSU are dangerous to anyone. of course perrenial doormats like baylor and the cyclones of iowa state still suck and colorado hasnt been the same since neuheisel f***ed them over...Ucla signs neuheisel and the last 2 schools that got him went from nat championship contenders to bitches in a short period of time.
-
Sure, its going to kill his wallet... I have a spot for him at the local food pantry. after banking 160m over 8 yrs I suspect he will somehow survive but i pray its not in the al east, then we have reason to worry.
-
Why would Oklahoma go ahead of Texas after Texas beat them up and rather soundly at that? Texas has 1 loss,on the road, on the last play of the game. All things equel texas beat ou and deserves to be in front of them if they both end up with 1 loss.

Based on the current mess in all industries, advertisement budgets are going to be slashed across the board from the car dealerships to the breweries to the airlines...That means less revenue for tv which means less revenue for mlb the nfl and the nba down the road..Attendence is going to fall as well. I was at the pats game sunday and there wasnt a single line for anything anywhere.A battle for 1st place was insanely quiet even with buffalo in the game till 10minutes were left..Baseball will face similar issues and I dont know many people who admit attending NBA games due to that product really eating it despite the Celts being on top of the world and rightly so....The days of wine and roses maybe coming to an end, everyone is broke or if theyre not broke they know someone who tailgates with them or splits season tix with them that are broke and next year is going to be worse...
-
Law is the playmaker that we have been missing in the backfield for a while now..Assante Samuel was good,Law was electric...7 years ago..Hampered by injury and weight gain he is a shell of himself..Of course if he was in the dime package last year he wouldve caught 1 of the 5 pix Manning threw up for grabs in Nys last drive and we would be champs again..The Jets have lil to lose on this move,I think the Pats wouldnt mind having him back either for 7 games.
-
Who is going to persue him with the zest and vigor that theo will persue him with? I am under the impression he is here till he retires since we dont have any legitimate catchers on the roster who can replace him. he should stop switch hitting,he isnt batting .200 from the left yet from the right he hit .280?? or something that was respectable. i would think he is inked for 2 years for around 10M unless the sox want to crucify boras for the manny deal and make tek the example.

Is that woman above me related to sara palin?
