  1. when did colorado get a franchise??
  2. Arroyo was also below average last year for the Sox. And when Coco was on the DL for about two months WMP was the starting CF (instead of Willie Harris). If Willie Harris is the starting CF for the Sox this year, even with Arroyo, the Sox don't have a 4 game lead on the division. WMP was a huge plus filling in for Coco and platooning with Trot before he was injured. and in the meantime we waive white flags every 5th day thats 20% of the season we go to war with the lenny dinardos and jj johnsons of the world or even kc's waiver wire cast aways arroyo was cheap,he loved it here,he had a rubber arm and you could pencil him in for 15 wins a year wily mo pena is a career underachiever with no plate discipline to speak of sure hes 24 but hes been playing pro ball now 7 years any ball hit his way is a disaster in the making but i will admit i do think that if he ever does develop some discipline at the plate that he'll hit 30-100-.300 and thats a maybe what i thought stupid was having mohr and stern on the roster and not using them at all obviously willy harris wasnt the answer and i thought the above 2 men deserved more of a chance to play rather than willy, who i dont think hit a ball out of the infield in any case as it stands if we give wily mo 600abs and he shatters the record for Ks in a season give arroyo 35 starts and he'll give you 15 wins and an era under 4.50 in the american league east. seeing as though our #5 is yet to be determined i'd say smart money keeps the pitcher
  3. judging by the 1st 2 innings its painfully evident that neither of these men would help us this year livan went 1.2 and gave up 7 sanchez gave up 5 1st inning runs including 3bbs and a hpb could this be the end for livan?? hes had a horrid 6 weeks
  4. i think if the midfielders carried knives or bats it would add an element of excitement thats sorely missing in this event. this event seems to captivate all the guys who werent good or tuff enough or were denied permission by their mamas to play football. this sport will never ever make it in this country outside of babysitting the snot nosed children of the soccer moms i really dont see much use for it at all. we do have some ideas however perhaps a firing squad set up for those who offend instead of these gay yellow cards perhaps make a flopper wear a yellow shirt that id's him as a coward and brand him with the letter F on his forehead?? turn the refs who blow a call over to the offended teams fan section that should make the game a bit fairer instead of the crap that currently goes on and for the life of me why do they end the game on penalty kicks!! 0-0 for 120 minutes and the game ends on penalty kicks? f***ing disgraceful is it any wonder why the usa is the only superpower left?
  5. EDIT: I have a hard time dealing with the fact that i'm older than the top catching prospect in the Yankees organization. Is this what all of you older guys feel like when watching sports? __________________ wait till youre still in your 20s and people refer to those younger than you as ""grizzled veterans"" wait till youre older than every single player in all of sports before you get too upset at the aging process at these times i find alcohol very refreshing
  6. tampa looks good the guy who pitched last nite has some pretty decent #s baldelli is back and their offense can hit anyone theres no excuse losing 3 straight to them however anyone else simply disgusted that we surrender every 5th game without a fight?? do the math if we played .500 ball when our #5 goes we'd have some distance from the yanks we havent played .500 ball when our 5 goes we're essentially mailing them in
  7. as far as hansen throwing 9.2 innings i saw paple throw in his 1st start against the twins last summer,he went 5maybe 6 he had ""it"' he challenged hitters,he was confident that he could get anyone out and he was after all of them i see hansen nibbling on the corners and getting behind in counts you have him being a 10 year stud after 9.2 innings which i find brutally optimistic thats what makes these boards fun, difference of opinion is healthy instead of the constant ballwashing that goes on over on the yankee and boston globe boards i see him as a youngster who dont have faith in his stuff just yet you have him being an elite setup guy who is untouchable today im of the mindset that you go for it all every chance you get as far as zambrano and willis go?? neither has done anything memorable in october that im aware of,i figure zambrano pitched against the marlins in 03 but willis didnt. i cant find any backup on it zambrano throws heat, willis has an awkward delivery and is coming on after a slow start neither is as consistant as jon smoltz i do know that smoltz is 16-4 in the playoffs and is one of the best clutch pitchers ive ever seen in my life and is still throwing 95 with 90mph sliders and a changeup he just developed he'll go to the pen he can start he can do it all as far as pitchers go nothing is guaranteed but here we are in july as one of the favorites to win it all and if,iiiiiiiiiiif the chance comes up to get this guy i say do it if its only a matter of losing craig hansen
  8. we traded canseco for john wayback wasdin
  9. we also got more wins from wells and clement last season than pedro won in nyc and as you mentioned almost 400 innings pitched between the 2 of them. combine that with the fact that clement was our#1 starter for the 1st half and wells our most consistant starter from memorial day on and i say we did ok with these 2 stiffs considering the injury to schilling and foulke and embrees collapse. this season?? who knew clement would regress into carl pavano and shame on the front office for not dealing with (1)wells age health and request to be traded (2)clements miserable 2nd half and playoff efforts. (3)dealing arroyo away for a 4th outfielder that being said we're only on the hook for 1 more season with clement, wells is done, even if he comes back hes gone at the end of the season so come october the mets will owe martinez another 27-30M and we're on the hook for clement for 1 more year i believe?? im a martinez guy big time i hold him in the same regards as ali, marvin hagler, orr etc.. however hes not the man he once was,not remotley and as much as this deal has helped the mets and hurt us so far, theres still a big part of this contract that hasnt been played out yet and the david wells saga hasnt ended. he may indeed come back later in the season and give us some innings down the stretch from the left side and a shot in the arm for the pennant run.
  10. its nice to be able to pencil in your closer for 2016 and the years in between but i for 1 dont see the future in that light. 1st off we got an allstar closer who may be the best in the business and hes 24 yrs old he aint going anywhere for a while 2nd off hansen,of all the young arms, seems farthest away from success,i know hes younger but he hasnt exactly grabbed the bull by the horns and challenged hitters with his 100mph heat either he may have the raw goods to be the best however he needs to show a little more confidence and production before we set our minds ahead to the 2010 rotation and where hansen fits in.
  11. the sox will come down to earth as evidenced by this god awful drubbing by the drays they wont win 100 in the al east 95 won the division last season the sox may indeed win more than 95 but our closest competetors wont
  12. as it stands today the red sox and the white sox are both 7-2 to win the world series (5dimes.com) craig hansen or jon smoltz?? good question i'll take the guy who is 16-4 in the post season over the rookie who throws 100 but has yet to find the confidence to challenge hitters atlanta wont deal smoltz for hansen straight up UNLESS smoltz insists on moving to fenway due to his long career in atlanta i think they'll let him make his own deal so long as its not insane on their end, plus hes got the tenure to rebuff anything he dont like
  13. of course and how many of them are getting 54,000,000.00 for 4 years?? hes a 6 inning man,7 against pittburg and the cubs despite all the money and glory he gets he still needs to rely on the chad bradfords of the world for a couple innings a nite to get W's and this may explain why his win totals arent all that impressive despite his Ks and decent era.
  14. oh yeah well youre not familiar with arods work out regiment while the rest of the league is taking their kids to school, alex rodriguez is running stairs bwahahahahahaha
  15. Steve Perry is a god did you go to school with greg lougannis??
  16. its become the anthem for the biffs and buffys who now fester in fenway park somehow this franchise existed for 100 years without it nothing like watching 2 men in designer jeans swaying to the sounds of neil diamond with their fingers interlocked like the lovers that they are unless its journeys ""dont stop believing"" that theyre dancing and singing to.... what happened to this country??
  17. neil diamond takes it in the ass
  18. text book baseball from soup to nuts great run
  19. theres a kt of truth in that its not really who you play as much as when you play them consider baltimore last year out of the chute they were on fire then died after the break the a's suck until june then theyre unbeatable the stros didnt turn it on till late and the tribe almost overcame a 14 game august deficit some teams are just unbeatable during a stretch to me the mets looked like deer in the headlites till tonite when glavine showed up big 5+ innings is gay willie shouldv stuck with him a bit more
  20. with the mlb package i never miss his starts hes a limited pitcher for a variety of reasons and his contract length is 1 of them they still are on the hook for 2.5 more years hes a 100 pitch a game man now tops and its too risky to push him
  21. many former mets fans have come out of the closet with their recent success that and many of the yankee fans switch sides depending on the standings in any cxse i find mets fans more smarmy than your typical bronx fan they come out every 5 years and proclaim their long romance since 1969 with the mets and love to mention 86 etc.. but for the most part more mets fans are mere posers as opposed to the yanks fans
  22. that and the fact that the yankees own zito makes him a burder
  23. it was a great move for the mets we lost a bit of swagger when petey left town the mets got it in return all the dominicans in washington heights who were sox fans 2 years ago now are mets fans as much as we follow the name on the front of the jersey many dominicans follow the name on the back, especially if its martinez if nothing else omar minaya put fire in nys latin community with the petey delgado and beltran picups and its paying off in both the standings and the bottom line too bad the park is as ugly as the name of the area flushing?? ya
