  1. thats another amazing thing about rivera his health i dont recall him ever being dl'd
  2. cant argue with that logic sir my only worry is that boy wonder hasnt had a full season of this type of pressure both mentally and physically mentally he seems sharp as a razor physically hes still throwing very well but we got another 90days of bball left which can be an eternity on a young arm last year he was lites out down the stretch so all indications are we shouldnt worry however as redsox fans this is what we do if we're not badmouthing the wives and children of yankee players or calling for jihad on yawkee way then we're worrying about the health of our players
  3. rivera is rivera the best closer ever he gave up a walk off friday nite hes been spending a lot of time out there in the 8th inning too it will be interesting to see what happens in september will this be the year rivera burns out down the stretch or will young paps get burnt out due to the length of the season.... i like our guy right now but rivera is the best ever
  4. as a lifelong borderline obsessive sox fan who would much rather get assraped by rosie odonell and oprah than see the yanks win the world series i get dumbfounded by this arod is the best shortstop on this team jetsey is a good ballplayer who dont have the range of arod but does have a good enough arm for 3rd why not make the move?? is torre frightened to ask derek?? isnt derek a team guy?? im trying to be as objective as possible here folks didnt schilling ask into the bullpen last season to make up for our lack of a closer?? 39 year old legend, bad ankle, limping, struggling, cant get anyone out however he sees the teams need and says gimme the ball,i dont care about anything but the teams ultimate success...he didnt have to worry about his long term career, hes got his money and his success speaks for itself jeter has money success and his legacy is intact being the captain shouldnt he take it to joe and say ""here coach,im willing to move over so arod can play where he belongs"" would it matter?? who knows but the effort and concession would speak volumes about teamwork, commraderie and the quest for the ultimate goal here which is the winning. captains lead by example
  5. manny is the better hitter of the 2 up till last week arod had the better glove arod is younger and still has a lot to prove for someone who already has 450 hrs and is a 1st ballot lock for cooperstown even if his career ended today manny has a world series mvp and is the cleanup hitter on the best 3-4 tandem since mccovey and mays or maybe even even gherig and ruth as a sox fan i dont want them to move manny and bring in arod why mess with success if i werent a sox fan and a man from say australia who was making an impartial decision?? i may indeed take arod dont worry there isnt a sox executive alive who would pull the trigger on this unless the yanks would eat 15M of arods salary christ i dont know if they'd trade lowell for arod these days due to the cancer the ny media is spreading in the clubhouse
  6. right on hammer perhaps if jetsey were a true captain and leader he would offer the shortstop job to the best shortstop on the team?? move to 2nd or 3rd depending on where hes needed more?? maybe slap the s*** out of that whiny ********** joel sherman for ripping arod day in and out?? maybe stick mike lupica and his glasses in a trash can and piss on him?? some f***ing leadership is needed and has been since paul oneill retired
  7. zito?? even the year he won the cy young it was a joke the yanks croak him,we get to him,i assume toronto would too theres no point in dealing for guys that cant win in the al east its pointless
  8. if phil hughes was ready sidney ponson would be finishing off his rehab and probation terms in aruba rather than stinking up the clean air of toronto the mere fact that you say nys pitching is better than boston indicates (a)you live in a cave (b)youre in complete and utter denial this is open to argument come 7-31 but as of today nys pitching is awful
  9. this is also why they havent won anything significant since canseco was a stud and mcguire didnt have the 3rd arm growing out of his chest
  10. didnt arod win the mvp last year in nyc?? anyone remember his #s has ny relocated to bumblef*** texas or ******* indiana?? now you people understand why we say the yankee fan base is a mile wide and an inch deep
  11. did frank torre die yet?
  12. no way man this didnt happen cashman, albeit a whippin boy for steinberger, wouldnt pull the trigger if it were hughes and melky perhaps but noway the deal went down with kato included
  13. without a bad 10th inning in shea stadium calvin schiraldi may have been the best closer we ever had sorry i had to throw that in there i like beckett hes a prick and he plays to win if clement had his fire we'd have a pretty potent staff that being said hes on pace to shatter long ball records given up this needs to stop and here is where i feel tek hasnt been his usual tek self slap the kid,get him to change speeds and pitch the way he needs to pitch there are 100 pitchers that throw as hard he does only guys who can change speeds will succeed im glad we got him our staff is young and strong and so far healthy
  14. the more the merrier
  15. they let flash go for nothing at least he could catch and occasionally pop 1 i doubt he retires if the yanks made him a mimimul offer did they lose?? they were down 3-2 after 8
  16. IMO they are far superior to the Braves. Plus, I don't think the Braves are as good as the Marlins lets see how it plays out the marlins payroll is about = to what i have found moving my couches around the living room lets see if these kids got any kick left they sold me i like their style
  17. im not nor was i ever a wells guy however seeing him battle last year as well as trying to come back this year despite his many many demands to be traded has given me a new respect for him he dont need the money getting 70 innings of anything remotely decent (-5 era) would be huge for us and our pen
  18. loretta has good hands his power is off but he hits for avg has a decent obp and handles 2nd base with agon like theyve been doing it for years lorettas what?? 34 perhaps?? a good baserunner a good glove a decent avg and the ability to turn 2 is what we need there hes made this team much better despite graff doin alright for us last season pedroia is making noise down there but isnt he being groomed for ss??
  19. tuffy rhodes hit 50+ hrs in japan 1 season please take this into consideration before predicting on how well someone will do there kapler went to japan and sucked theres a difference in culture that is troublesome to many
  20. all i can think of is fat toads and george costanza's father when they went to trial for indifference ""12 MILLION FOR IRABU""
  21. perhaps perhaps not however that doesnt diminish his value as a closer and the fact that he will remain there till ocotber ends
  22. fat man is almost ready man i'd love to get 75 innings out of him down the stretch a veteran lefty who competes and has playoff experience is gold to me. if clement had this mans balls we'd be discussing him for a cy young paplebon is on his way to rookie of the year cy young and perhaps co mvp with ortiz at tthe rate hes tossing at.. you want to do what with him?? lets revisit this next year man hansen and manny d have improved with each outing paple has been lites out his entire time here as well
  23. ""Pavano has been an incredible bust, and there's no denying that. Definitely a bigger bust than WMP. Pena was supposed to help more in the future, Pavano was supposed to have an immediate impact"" agreed however i'll be damned if i saw this meltdown and mad case of vaginitis that has become the body of 1 carl pavano i dreaded him in ny i wanted him in boston and this is why we settled for clement now?? now i laff my balls off whenever i hear his name as far as wily mo goes many here know my feelings but thats not to say we dont have a future with mr pena here he did fill in well in the place of coco and think of how badly the lineups were with willy harris instead of wily pena will he make it here? i dont know, the K's drive me nuts but he did appear to be buckling down a bit and hitting the ball to the opposite field as well as being a bit more patient at the plate would i rather have arroyo?? ya but thats water under the bridge
  24. threw in the hi 90s in high school his mom made steinbrenner give up over a mill in an unheard of signing bonus steinny paid it then b taylor and his buddy had a fist fight in true yankee fashion taylor swung and missed and threw out his arm and ended his career a real tragic event........for yank fans anyone remember rogelio ""roger"" moret?? want to discuss tragic??
  25. anyone remember brian taylor??
