  1. dont just do something stand there this trade doesnt frighten me unless theyre allowed to use 4 outfielders what this means is giambi will be playing 1st base quite a bit bad for ny this also means that jarret wright is off to the bullpen as lidle i believe is the better pitcher if the sox dont grab a starting pitcher by 4pm today they got trouble theres 2 types a rubber arm 5.00 guy who will keep you in the game or the hoss who will compete with schill for the 1 theres just not a lot on the table evidently i dont know what the yankees are thinking i'd like to be a fly on the wall in the sheffield establishment this morning he just lost millions abreu hasnt hit 20hrs in a year has he?? 277 hitter who lost his power but he gets on base a lot sort of like a kevin youkillis except he makes 14,650,000.00 a year more i have no idea what theyre thinking outside of ""lets throw a ton of money at someone""
  2. I saw him pitch friday he couldnt break a pane of glass with his fast ball a blind man couldve hit him
  3. suzy waldman?? we call that type of women hinderbergesque ""ohhhhhhhhhhh the humanity""
  4. roy is that a picture of mick jones on your avatar??
  5. last october 3 and out 3 losses in last years playoffs were wells clement and wakefield all got hit hard schilling anfd beckett will be here schilling has been awesome which josh beckett will appear in october the guy toronto and ny pulverized or the mvp of the 03 world series?? a valid question i feel youre not sure smoltz would do better than lester?? agreed you cant be 100% sure but based on what we know smoltz has done and based on what we've seen from lester i think its a fair assumption that smoltz would handle game 7 pressure for sure and lester?? hes the question mark not smoltz please dont mention matt clement in a serious conversation about playoff rosters and who will be on our staff in october i almost s*** my pants in anxiety when i saw you post his name
  6. my point exactly luca why wait till next year after hearing the same ******** in my lifetime 39/40 yrs jon lester is a nice young lefty and they are commodites,no doubt about it on the cheap too, this is the key thats how theyre really valued by the 19 different investors who own the sox is there a bigger commodity in this game than an october ace?? not since ive watched the game were not discussing october failures like clemens or cast offs like benson we're not talking about the jeff suppans and frank castillos of the world either this is all moot anyways so long as atlanta is involved smoltz aint going anywhere and neither is plan aa in jason schmidt
  7. julio lugo?? ya lets break up our middle defense
  8. the braves won 15 divisions 1 world series maybe if they moved someone for some bullpen help or a bat they wouldve won more
  9. hard to argue with your logic i do love left handed pitching but i see more ted lilly than tom glavine with this guy for some reason maybe he needs a scar on his face
  10. we can revisit this in october jon lester has 7 career starts, hes beatent he national league and kansas city hes struggles to go 6 innings his era is 3 but lets face it hes done some serious serious tap dancing to avoid getting killed out there and that he paid for the dancing on sunday in a bad way i like him i like world championships better jon lester for jon smoltz gives us the inside track to win the world series without a doubt if hes on the table?? whoever gets him between boston ny detroit or chicago instantly becomesTHE team someday jon lester may have that value and despite his very impressive win total and basically tremendous efforts out there i'd prefer jon smoltz walking into the bronx or the metrodome than a 22 year old rooki crazy eh?? we're good enuff to win this thing this year... why wait for lester to develop when we need a stud in october 06 not october 08 anything short of a world series title is a disappointment and i'd sell a kidney for a title never mind jon lester
  11. jon lester or jon smoltz in game 7 this year forget about next year this year banners are forever
  12. right on riverside plus hes in contention as well zito walks in november as all oaklands horses do but if oakland is sincere about this year they cant dump zito unless.....they'll need bullpen help and a leadoff hitter i feel
  13. barry zito does nothing for me but id move pena for him in a second
  14. how many big games has phil hughes won in his life?? smoltz is one of the best money pitchers in history hes been healthy and he still throws as hard as ever this isnt a guy who is done despite his age he looks like he can still pitch as long as he wants to
  15. yes sir i did indeed
  16. Finally, please stop ruling out the Yankees. I still remember the Yankees picking up David Cone at the 1995 trading deadline for three guys that never amounted to anything. Only one of them made it to the majors, and he pitched in a grand total of 27 games over 2 years amen brother why would the yanks getting smoltz suprise anyone?? really this is the same team that had nobody in their system 5 years ago yet theyve come up with cabrerra cano wang and phillips in the last 15 months, all have contributed they wouldve watched the playoffs at home last year if not for aaron small and the deal they made for chacon ask steinbrenner if hed trade phillip hughes for jon smoltz i'd be willing to be that steinbrenner dont even know where hughes is playing
  17. is someone dangles a decent 3 for wily pena?? id like to think hes gone before the i's are dotted everything equel as of this morning we're good enough to win it all however the status quo is going to change come monday retooling year?? we got schill beckett and the others that made our staff the deepest in bball before the pena deal and the injuries to wells and wake we got the best 3-4 hitters in the past 70 years an up and coming lead off hitter in crisp,an all star 2nd basemen who hits 2nd,an obp machine in youk, one of the best catchers in the al and someone actually considered this a retooling year?? what??? anyways the twins got a little pop, they bring the best pitcher in the al and a superstar in the making with liriano...he still has 3mos left in the season so the book isnt closed just yet they need more i feel the backend is questionable with an aging radke and others not worth mentioning the bullpen i dont trust, ive seen joe nathan do things in october that made me puke and the other guys are just awful the met is a hard place to win for anyone and with a 1-2 punch like they got i feel theyre a better playoff team than a regular season team you dont want to see santana and liriano in the 1st round of a best of series
  18. me too...me and him have a lot to discuss i have questions for him i wanted to ask him how he could sit in the dugout and refuse to pinch hit in that friday nite game in yankee stadium while jetsey was bleeding,we were battling and it was one of the greatest games ever played id also like to ask him how he feels about a 60M/5yr deal now i also want to know if his ego is bruised because we won the world series 3 months after dumping his manic depressive/compulsive disordered ass all that talent all the goodwill the people of boston had for this guy and he became a sullen, miserable west coast ********** who got what he deserved
  19. and a 1.5 M buyout which means he costs us 5+ M next year if he dont pitch and 7.5 to be here?? 27M foulke will pocket here in his time
  20. you'd rather see manny walk 200xs and hit 20hrs with 75 rbi than doing what hes doing now??
  21. i cant argue with ya there sir despite my being sickened by paytons 2nd half perfomance in oakland and chad bradford sucking on the return end of the deal you cant keep these guys who are basically spoiled *******s on the club for obvious reasons same for shea
  22. gee think jt snow is available?? theo did the same thing last year with jay payton and he ended up with better #s than nixon in half a season of course he too was a fuking jerk so i really shouldnt be attacking epstein over this depth is essential in this game snow, even at his age,is a decent hitter with a good glove dfa'ing him wasnt brite in my opinion
  23. another spot for the 5th starter another big L for the boys im making a decent living betting against these guys every 5th day
  24. the duke was a good baseball man,he had a great eye for talent however the duke was also a f***ing jerk and that in my opinion is the reason he isnt in baseball plus he has a ton of money so after his departure from the madness that is redsox baseball he may have said f*** this, ive had enuff i get manny damon and pedro and they still fired my ass i dont know if hes applied anywhere else, you??
  25. 1st of all duquette worked for harrington and not the 19 member strong investment group that now owns the sox so he didnt always have a bottomless well of money to scrounge up and he didnt have to run every deal by larry luchino before they pulled the trigger. 2nd duke signed black and latin players that never were signing here previously for reasons that i dont want to get into if youve followed this team as long as i have you know what im talking about petey was the guy who brought ortiz in,theo obliged petey and they promptly put ortiz behind millar and jeremy giambi on the depth chart do you remember this?? 3rd theo""upgraded the bullpen"" in 03 by dumping hillebrand for bunny kim trading current nl batting leader freddy sanchez for scott sauerbraun and jeff suppan of the 3 that we traded for, none were capable of making the playoff roster none we lose game 7 in 03 in 12 innings because of this and other mitigating factors 4th you say he never wouldve traded for schilling i say ******** this is based on what?? the fact he made an indentical deal in getting pedro tells my otherwise 5th he never wouldve traded nomar for meintxxx and cabrerra on this youre probably correct i dont know many gms who would trade away the most popular ball player in 50 years for 2 rent a players then turn around and essentially pay 19,000,000.00 for edgar renteria 6th how much has foulke cost us?? after his buyout next year for another 5,000,000.00 we will have paid him 27,000,000.00 + for 1 1/3 years work..... of which he was remarkable for 3 weeks in his 3 year redsox career and for that i thank theo as well he has a week to make our team better this year based on last year im not optimistic larry will let him do what needs to be done
