i was about to comment on francona being mentioned with leyland then i saw the smile face i have a hard time rooting for the mets but theyre not the yanks so i deal with it i like their infield a lot and beltrans having an mvp year its the pitching that worries me about that club petey looks like s*** glavine is older than s***(we're classmates) trachsel and el duque will have to step up and billy wagner is scary in crunch time should be a good ride
-
belli for loretta was a good deal but you and the front office forgot that it would make wakefield and his new catchers life miserable and in essence ineffective and wakes #s without mirabelli speak for themselves. bard, who is a decent catcher, broke records for past balls in a game hes a tuff kid being able to bounce back from that nightmare wake had a great era but couldnt win a game because of pastballs and the ensuing track meet of people running on him they had no plan for catching wakefield when they traded douggie as usual they got caught with their pants down
-
i wouldnt mind seeing detroit win i like pudge and the young arms,i like leyland and his approach to the game as well in the nl its open for anyone now the mets are the best 8 but their pitching is now officially realing from injury the dodgers are ablaze and if penny and lowe can be consistant theyll be hard to beat the reds just got cooked in sanfran and are now tied for the wild card and 3 out of 1st the st louis club sucks mulder sucks, their bullpen sucks but they do have albert could be some surprises this fall
-
wakefield pitches 200innings a year of 4.5 era ball thats huge in 2006 we miss him and its taking its toll on the rest of the staff now if the sox are moving mirabelli? then they shouldve moved wakefield no one else has been able to catch him consistantly and tek is ancient and beat up enuff and struggled catching wake for years on end now.. christ flaherty retired rather than chase the knuckler sure bard wasnt given a chance but (1) he wasnt gonna beat tek out (2)he was going to catch 20% of our games, the games wake pitched and if he couldnt do that then he was of no help to us unless of course we moved wakefield its the end of august ive said all that needs to be said about the front office and its miserable efforts this summer come 10/28 they'll start on their never ending to quest to move manny by telling us all how he wants out of here and how his wife is really michelle damons sister and that they belong in ny together this year with his contract near over they may get it done and we can all celebrate losing the greatest right handed hitter ive ever seen and enjoy watching david murphy in left field till the tumbleweeds again blow thru yawkee way
-
damons power #s are skewed because of the right field in ny but theres no arguing his leadoff skills and ability to hit when it matters crisp?? hes 26 and has had his worst season in his career it has to get better for him and i suspect he finishes strong however the fact that he has less than 30rbi at this point in the season is sickening this team has a lot of questions come next season

their defense this season has been awesome 4 out of the w/card and now minny and chicago go head to head heres hoping the twins sweep i see chicago as the bigger threat here -
no i made an enormous lists of prospects who were ""untouchable"" and ended up not living up to expectations and or sucking their entire careers to make a point prospects are just that prospects not allstars, not idols of worship nor items to save for a rainy day if i wanted to watch AAA ball i'd spend more time in pawtucket
-
jesus .700 sounds like you need a week in sensitivity training...LOL some people on board dont like to hear that the sox front office tanked on us they dont like different opinions as they prefer the kevin bacon approach ""all is well all is well"" as the titantic approaches the ice berg and the yankees bend us over the kitchen sink that was a 5 game sweep, you can open your eyes now,its over i didnt want them to sign petey or damon for that matter but i also didnt expect david pauley and the like to be the key components in this seasons pennant run

when he starts having 40hr seasons he'll probably be playing in tokyo or tijuana i tend to call spades spades im not questioning his ability to hit rockets, impressive line shots and towering homers im questioning his ability to hit good pitching consistantly and im questioning his plate discipline and im questioning his ability to play right field in fenway everyone who understands the simplest part of the game is too i appreciate your wild enthusiams over wily mo and i hope youre correct in your bold assessments however i didnt know this was a sox ballwashing forum i thought this was an open forum that deals in reality and the reality is we dont know what wily mo pena is going to do next season or in 10 years do we what we do know is he is a strike out machine and hits some rockets hes played well in nixons absence, better than advertised as far as im concerned hes also a career .250 hitter who would break the strike out record if given 600abs please correct me if im wrong on any of these #s arroyo is on pace for 230 innings instead of him pitching 230 innings here?? we got jj johnson, dee snyder, lenny dinando and some other f*** bags throwing instead oh fukin joy david pauley got called up now?? did i mention how badly this taxed our bullpen along the way? how many games have we surrendered because of this?? nevermind its not that important to you as long as wily mo can rip those lazers and cool off the park with those tremendous swings and misses -
as much as id like to see gerry callahan beaten in front of his children i do like some of his work he is a sardonic little prick isnt he this is long overdue the ballwashing and the fawning over boy wonder has to end and they need to call him out for his failures
-
dont y'all understand the yankees have never won s***(since reggie) with steinbrenner making the player personal decisions?? the core of the 96-00 team was all home grown talent they built a team of ballplayers while the felon was placed on sabbatical and they were able to maintain it without his meddling, bitching whining and threats hes the one who brought in arod hes the one who needed jeff weaver hes the one who insisted on dumping contreras hes the one who went out and got kevin brown hes the one who brought in THE GIAMBINO hes the one who traded ted lilly eric milton nick johnson and alphonzo they were allowed to develop a solid core of young ballplayers who had character while george was in exile hes the one who is directly responsible for their suck efforts between 81-94(ken phelps for jay buhner??) and gene michael is the one responsible for the 96-00 efforts nobody outside boston won a title with a payroll exceeding 100M
-
i like this angels team if they could ever get some runs ocab batting 3rd?? cheese dick ownership my friends despite my fondness for mr cabrerra he aint a 3 hitter that tigers team could use some plate discipline but i agree theyll be tuff to handle im not so sure chicago dont repeat in the al anyone who calls jay mariotti a faggot is ok by me mariotti should be placed in the care of an english nanny fukin baby that he is i think its going to be hard to beat the mets in the nl soup to nuts they got the best lineup if their pitching can hold up they win walking away IF is the key word here, theyre old elduque petey glavine trachsel??
-
i was watching classic espn last nite their topic was greatest chokes of all time we broke the top 15 twice 78 and 86 but the all time greatest choke of all time now rests in the bronx and its impossible to beat and can only be tied its amazing how much mileage i can get out of those 10days from 04
-
by the way you got awesome seats do you buy seasons??
-
i hate la but i like their team a bit id love to see petey put together a nice run but as it stands the mets got maine, elduque and un gatz right now a healthy and rested petey is essential to win the series i think they win the pennant but im cheering for the reds....If they get there
-
i had the best seats of my life for that game coco sec 24 box d52 row 2 seat 3 i have the stub in my desk i could tell that sean casey was dipping skoal mint and that dmi young didnt shower before the game and that maggie mae ordonez may be a homosexual based on his hair doo... (mousse is out for straight guys isnt it??) they looked good coco who do you like in the nl the mets are the favorites obviously but the dodgers are hotter than sheffields wife at an elger convention but my choice is cinicinatti man i love that team but theyre so very flawed i doubt they can get it done
-
i saw the tigers for the 1st time last week when they beat becks theyre good, soup to nuts kind of good i think they lack a bit of power but they run hit and pitch pretty good they have the best catcher ever and he calls a pretty good game i like their pen with the exception of jones they got lots of balance and i wouldnt mind seeing them win as a rags to riches story its the city of detroit that makes me vomit, not the team
-
now that the dust has settled and the yanks came into town, killed the men, raped the women and stole the children i think its safe to rule the sox out of the running so who do we sox fans cheer for?? yanks fans need not comment unless they have a national league opinion in the al i loved this chisox team last season but as of late? the lefty buehrle and the big man contreras have been beatable, theyve gone too far into the hole and i like detroit to hang on and win with chicago in the wild card slot as minnys liriano is being held back with forearm problems near the elbow....santana cant pitch every game in the east its ny unless their team plane crashes and even then i like them in the west i like the angels because imo they have deeper pitching and can manufacture some offense behind the behemoth guererro the a's have better starters however i think their bullpen is suspect and their bats will struggle against the halos down the stretch...it could go either way but i like the angels over the next 5 weeks
-
my buddy had a business meeting in atlanta last month he called to see if they had any tickets for the met?? series and was told there were seats he gets out the chart for turner field and his seats were 20 rows up from the braves dugout and list price was 25.00 per seat this is a team who won 15 straight divisions and cant sell primo seats like these for dirt cheap money outside the northeast and the mid west i worry about the games long term health as i said yesterday the yankees never won it all with a payroll over 100M the sox are the only team to win it all with a 100M payroll or better spending doesnt guarantee anything but a paper chance to be competetive
-
that doesnt matter in my opinion the cost of the stadium is defered over 100?? years or soemthing like that in a low interest loan and the city agreed to cover ""infrastructure"" as the state of mass did for bob kraft in foxboro... wink wink their cable tv revenue will cover the note, attendence covers the payroll and concessions can be used to buy his politicians and private detectives and line his pockets. they'll probably get into seat liscensing like they do in the nfl and perhaps they can turn that neighborhood from a flowing cess pool into a more palatable place to be after dark as they did in baltimore, cleveland and half ass did here on yawkey way... there is a lot of upside for everyone involved if they do indeed clean up jerome ave and the 159th perimeter
