This is a good argument with 2 men who have played in obscure towns over their careers. That bandbox in cincinatti is Dunn has hit 40 5 xs? but his rbi totals are rather low for a 40hr guy, 46hrs 102rbi? 40-101. 40-106. Of course theyre beautiful stats but .245 avg? a lot of Ks and a lot of solo Hrs are on the sheet. This year theyre more in line with the norm, 18-56 or something like that? Bays hr#s are lower but after watching him here hes been f***ing deadly after the 7th inning and seems always to provide big hit after big hit here. The Sox Cubs and the Yanks generally set the market and if you're lucky enough to be the right guy in the right place then you'll get paid...Abreu came in real low this year as the market has seen a correction with all those unsold seats behind homeplate in NY but do you want to see Jason Bay as a free agent this fall?...f***ing pay him and be done with it, they already priced me out of the ballpark and their highest paid guy makes 14M,when they climb into Bay and then Becketts new deals they'll be looking at 5-90 for Bay and God knows what they do with Beckett if he struts thru the next 4 months like a peacock and we win again.... Our owners can buy time with another ring and NY can do the same thing.

Hes not shutting anyone out anymore but Id take him in a minute he knows what to do,very crafty, isnt afraid of pitching around heavy bats and can find the weaknesses in every lineup, he had as much to do with their success in the 90s as just about anyone.
-
Tuned up? They got 1 extra base hit off him if Im not mistaken. I had a few last night so feel free to correct me. His command was certainly off and that can be attributed to 100 different things. his press conference was certainly upbeat and he hasnt pitched in anger in a very long time. Ya we would prefer 7 shut out innings but it is what it is. Forgot about the 3rd inning double, they did get 2xtra base hits off him.
-
Petite is a gamer, hes generally in every single game he starts and rarely gets pounded. As long as the yanks can give him 5 runs he's going to win much more than he loses.
-
They didnt really hit him hard either, they found some holes and had some key hits. What are you going to do, taking 2-3 on the road is fine against anyone in the league and our guy pitched fine after the 1st inning. Im not sure what the problems are with these old guys coming off major surgery but the 1st inning is generally brutal...The sox had Ramon Martinez at the end of his career and hed get knocked around in his 1st 30 pitches then hed settle in, Petey had the same issues with the Mets at the end,Saberhagen Cone etc..all these guys had a hard time in the 1st inning. He sounded pleased with his effort and hes also too proud to be out there with nothing in the tank. The next 3 starts will indicate whether he can or cant and its not as if we dont have other options just in case he fails.

Nice effort by the bayou bengals and they continue to produce the best athletes in college sports. I like the college game, those aluminum bats keep every one in their seats and the pitchers have to be ready for a liner off the face..A nice series but the Tigers were the better team.
-
Why Theo hasnt inked this guy yet is a mystery and theres no rumors innuendos or discussions currently available...The guy is on pace for 160RBI, hes never been hurt and he is the consumate team player. Are they waiting for him to slump before approaching him or does he really want to get into a bidding war with the yankees who are hitting like old people f*** these days?

Yaz,although its strictly off the table now our sources in the Islands tell us that the o/u will be 60-120 and under 60 a pk. Chestnut is now the man having won last year in overtime when both men tied at 59. Im a f***ing pig when it comes to food but these guys ingest so much sodium in 1 sitting its a bleeding miracle no one has dropped dead yet from these contests. Hey, we have lines on the presidential elections, on American Idol, every soccer league from Barcelona to Brazilia and the gambling public does indeed get involved in this event with gusto. Walrus goes about 350lbs these days, hes more well versed on this contest than I am. Due to his ahh life choices I fear Dick Gregory and the Milford Fire Dpt along with Geraldo will see him before I do,special harnesses, chain saws and sawzalls will be needed to get him out of the house I hear. MJ,as we've discussed ad nauseum all these years statistics are garbage when its time to strap in and take the October ride.although Sabby has pitched somewhat well over the last 6 weeks he pulled a Clemens over the weekend and history tells us he is not the guy you want on the hill come playoff time. Becketts career era in Boston is over 4 including the playoffs, the bottom line is simple. Who would you want pitching game 7,Beckett or Sabbathia?
-
Good morning MJ. When the Yanks get some pitching theyre going to be tuff to beat, maybe next year they come up with someone scary...Burnett and Sabby are 11-8 or something like that, they still need a legit 1. salary dont coincide with success. I still believe that Burnett will be their savior down the stretch and i also think the big lefty will fade come late summer due to abuse, wang has been better but hes still carrying a double digit era, joba is competetive but isnt as effective as a starter as he was pitching in the crucial 8th inning.. Petitte is serviceable but the key for them will be Phil Hughes and how well he pitches. he will be in their rotation down the stretch unless they trade him for someone famous but 3 years past his prime..Is Eric Milton still on their radar?
-
Arod looks awful, remember when torre batted him 8th in the playoffs against detroit? He should be hitting 8th now, hes killing the yankees.

If we lose Bay we got some problems, i dont even want to think that far ahead. The more I see JBay the more I want him here forever, the man is quiet, humble and can hit a ton. We will overpay for this guy or he will walk to NY. Anyway Heres where the real action is, Nathans Hot Dog Eating Contest. Joey Chestnut dethroned the mighty Kobayashi last year but the Japanese guy had an undisclosed injury. Chestnut comes back as the favorite but Im leaning East and think Kobayashi comes back. NATHAN'S HOT DOG EATING CONTEST - Jul 04 Jul 04 - 9:00 AM NATHANS HOT DOG EATING CONTEST - ODDS TO WIN 3951 ** BOTH CHESTNUT AND KOBAYASHI 3952 MUST COMPETE FOR ACTION ** 3953 . 3954 JOEY CHESTNUT -150 3955 .. 3956 TAKERU KOBAYASHI +120 3957 ... 3958 FIELD (ANY OTHER CONTESTANT) +1000

Taking 4 to the movies at night costs about 45- 50 bucks to walk in. If you decide to get popcorn and soda its another 30 bucks or so, its steep but it is what is. we used to walk into double feature matinees for 1.50 on a Saturday afternoon and I think kids under 12can catch a matinee now for 5.50 maybe?? I do know its infinitely cheaper than going to a game. Taking 4 to fenway is a 1000 maybe 12-1500 its all depending on where you're sitting and who they play and of course the weather situation but even the cold rain rarely empties fenway early. Its rather outrageous and eventually all things come down to earth but if you're looking for relief in Boston from these prices it aint happening soon. the way this team is set up with young arms I see them being competetive for 5-8 years from now and as long as its fashionable for the pink hat wearing douchebags and neil diamond fans Im afraid its all over between many of us and Fenway. Last time I sat in the expensive seats behind homeplate I was frightened to yell too loud lest I offend the stock broker going to town on his Blackberry and the 2 dykes wearing matching combat pants and tshirts that read MEN SUCK JETER SWALLOWS .... The atmosphere has changed dramatically under these owners and nothing was worse than the day they got eliminated against chicago in 05, they were down a couple of runs and in between innings Journeys Dont Stop Believin is being played.....and the 2 men in front of me who had their sweaters over their shoulders and their pinkies linked together started doing the Bump while singing as if they were auditioning for American Idol... I could read the writin on the wall that afternoon.

I never realized how pathetic his arm and power was till we got him. He shut his mouth, smiled a lot and did very well out there defensively and occasionally got on base. He did outplay ells last year and earned the job in CF but he wasnt in the plans for the long haul. Too bad about his shoulder, i got nothing bad to say about the guy.

The guy he fought was a joke?Ray Mercer was a joke in Boxing....20 years ago. If these guys could actually use their hands like boxers do they wouldnt be dicking around with this minor league s*** while fighting for beer money, they'd be boxing for real money. Ray Mercer is 50 years old and was a career journeyman boxer, the fact that hes competetive with this crew at all tells you all you need to know about their talent level, he wouldnt be allowed to box in the US due to his age and futility. That being said I think the top 5 heavy weights in boxing are now all Russians or former Soviet Union states. Boxing is dying a slow death due the lack of a heavyweight with any kind of charisma or opposition and also the fact that network TV hasnt carried a big fight in 20 years which handcuffs the public from paying. Don King did a lot of damage to the sport by making enormous money for himself and basically making the sport too expensive for the public to watch.Who is going to pay 55.00 to watch Vlad Klitchko fight Joe s*** the Ragman on TV?Id rather watch fat people f*** than that crap but give me a Shane Mosely fight and Ill pay.Im not adverse to driving to NY or A/C for a title fight if the competetion is right, I had no problems driving 350 miles to see Mickey Ward fight Arturo Gatti in A/C and if theres a couple of good fighters in Madison Square Garden I can be convinced to go. If I wanted to watch no talent ass hats fight outside the rules of Boxing there are 10 bars locally that have them live every weekend and theyre generally open invitation for anyone who thinks theyre good enuff... When I see a kid like Jorge Rivera make a name for himself in the UFC and then see him get his ass kicked by a 160lb Portugese kid at the bar Rivera bounced at I cant take the sport all that seriously. Especially those f***ing reality shows, my God are they gay. I am positive those shows target the closet homosexuals exclusively.

As long as hes on the field hes very helpful, better than helpful. hes allstar material but for 14M shouldnt he be allstar material? The problem with this guy has never really been his production, its been his inability to stay on the field. This year hes been steady on his feet but every time he runs something down you can hear the suction of an entire region holding their breath....anticipating a calamity and the strained back, neck, quad or hammy that follows...135 games is all Im asking for, if he plays that many games he will put up great #s,score a ton of runs and work pitchers deep into counts.. He is a legit #2 hitter with his big OBP#s
-
Ya but MJ some guys close with 3 run leads say in Sandiego vs Sanfran with little pressure and then others are trying to get thru the sox or ny lineups with a 1 run lead.. A statistical problem to analyze for sure, Krod is great but he pitched in the AL West, not the AL East. Paps is the man here. with a 1 run lead hes the man I want out there for us but what will he be commanding in the future, whats his health like and who do we have to replace him? John Wettland closed out the 96 season for Ny and won the MVP I believe but due to riveras rise Wettland was expendable...Randy Meyers closed for the 90 reds but they had 100MPH guy rob dibble and norm charlton behind him, Myers went on and Dibble didnt fare nearly as well inspite of this gas being hotter...Its a mental game more than any other spot on the roster, some got it,some dont.
-
CC will end up in the top 5 if theres a major plane crash involving the 25 pitchers who are better than him
-
I watched 50 yr old Ray Mercer who in his prime as a boxer never fought for the title or even got into the top 10 rankings, dust some other douchebag in 8 seconds last week. Give me the boxer all day long over these other m/arts guys, its never a contest.
-
We get a little paranoid in Boston as our rivals 200miles southeast of here look at our roster with a hard-on for anyone good...and we had that 86 year thing after our best player ever was sold for a broadway play and a handjob. So when one of our guys says "'Sure id play for NY"" its akin to telling your wife "'Sure I'd f*** your younger sister with the bigger tits""...Most guys know enuff not to say things like that but Paps isnt known for his subtelty or high intellect.
-
Brett Tomko?? hahaha...When can we expect Rick Helling?
-
Losing 4 of 6 to Miami and DC is rather anemic and if you factor in payroll differential its rather hillarious. The Yankee offense has good #s but just cant get it done when the moneys on the table. They have all seemed to have lost their patience at the plate these days.
-
MJ,didnt you say a couple weeks ago that Paplebon didnt scare you anymore and his whip would be his eventual downfall as a premier closer?... In any case I was thinking about you last night. Specifically about the umps and its brutal how they seem to screw the yanks at every oppurtunity they get..Hey those Nats are good, nobody should takem lightly inspite of their .280 winning% in 2 games they threw 17 shutout innings against that vaunted Yank lineup and now have finally won 2 in a row, thats a dynasty like performance for them... The Yanks bats are dead and I dont get it. they have no f***ing patience at the plate,Arod is useless and Joba still has no command with men on base...At least their bullpen has improved in the last 2 months..Thank Christ for Castillo dropping that floating duck or there would be a lot of anxiety in ny after getting swept by the sox, losing 2/3 against the timid Mets and the horrid Nats at home... Yankee stadium doesnt have the Aura and Mystique it once had ever since Curt Schilling came to Boston and this new barn they play hasnt been warm to the yanks at all... The NY tax payer really took this one in the ass and how long will the Fredo brothers put up with such lackluster play from this paper juggernaut? Joe Girardi must be looking over his shoulder, especially with Willie Randolph available.
-
Logic failed? Remembering this is a business 1st for a moment consider that they locked up the reigning MVP for several years at short money just like they did with Paplebon and Nomar for that matter. They havent had to give him the high 8 figure deal yet and when they do? He hasnt been a big mouth in the press, he has played waay above and beyond their expectations and although hes mouthy to the opposition he hasnt been a pain in the ass and a prima donna. 23 yr olds with little MLB experience are much easier to handle than the 28-30yr old vets who are about to make their big score, this is certainly agreed upon by the panel. As far as Bard being groomed as the next closer? Im sure they'd love to see him succeed in his current role 1st as we also know many guys who throw hi 90s who have failed at the closers role for a variety of reasons... Mentally its different getting the ball with the lead and 3 outs to attain for success as opposed to coming into the game in the 6th 7th innings without the game on the line.

Theyve gotten rid of every single personality on the team that they inherited and look at the guys theyve kept or traded for.. all quiet proffesionals who dont f*** off or dance on the field or have big mouths. Its quite evident that they dont give a s*** who they move or when they move them and I suspect they will use Paplebon till the time comes to give him the big bucks over the long run and then they will use their whores in the media to grease the skids for him to slide out the door just as they have with Manny Petey Damon etc...You can see the begining of it happening already.
-
I dont think theyre overly worried about paplebon and history tells me that he doesnt have the IBM personality thats beloved by John Henrys ownership group.
