    Id trade Coco because we have a player that can replace the kind of production he brings coming up next year in Ellsbury, we dont have a potential 40+ HR hitter in the system that is near ready.

    heres something i put together on Beckett on netsports earlier this offseason: i put together a start log of beckett from last year and sorted by good, average/bad, and awful and heres what i found. The Good = 19 starts 7 IP, ER 7 IP, ER 7 IP, ER 7 IP, 3 ER 7 IP, ER 7 IP, 3 ER 6 IP, 0 ER 6 IP, 2 ER 8 IP, 2 ER 7.2 IP, 2 ER 7 IP, 3 ER 8 IP, 0 ER 6 IP, 3 ER 6 IP, 3 ER 6 IP, 2 ER 6 IP, 1 ER 7 IP, 2 ER 6 IP, 2 ER 8 IP, 0 ER 129.2 IP, 32 ER ERA = 2.22 The ok/bad = 7 starts 7.1 IP, 5 ER 5 IP, 4 ER 5.1, 3 ER 6 IP, 5 ER 6 IP, 5 ER 5 IP, 3 ER 8 IP, 4 ER 42.2 IP, 29 ER ERA (including good) = 3.22 , 26 starts The terrible = 7 starts 3.2 IP, 8 ER 4.2 IP, 7 ER 1.1 IP, 7 ER 4.1 IP, 7 ER 6 IP, 7 ER 5.2 IP, 9 ER 6.2 IP, 8 ER and then adding in the terrible and his ERA jumps to 5.02. So in 26 starts he was a 3.22 ERA pitcher but in 7 he was just awful. With some more consistency and less of those awful days I think next year he'll post an ERA around 3.50 hopefully.

    I wouldnt mind a Crisp for Gonzalez deal, mostly because it garuntees that WMP has a spot in the OF and lineup and I tihnk WMP as the 6th hitter is much more valuable than having Coco in the 8th spot. Lineup: 1. Youk 1B 2. Lugo SS 3. Ortiz DH 4. Manny LF 5. Drew RF/CF 6. Pena RF/CF 7. Lowell 3B 8. Varitek C 9. Pedroia 2B bullpen: CL Gonzalez Set-up Timlin MR Delcarmen MR Okajima MR Lopez/Hansen/Breslow LR Tavarez and Theo sign Matsuzaka at all costs

    I mentioned Ellsbury because hes the other prospect we shouldnt even consider dealing, I didnt suggest he was involved in any way in the proposed cordero deal

    I wouldnt mind trading some prospects for Cordero, but trading our two best prospects (Ellsbury and Buchholz) would not be a wise move, both could probaly crack the top 20 prospects in baseball by seasons end, and just like we saw with hanley, clay, anabeil, sanchez, etc. we will see Hansen go to Washington and probaly end up being pretty nearly as good as Cordero. This has happened way too many times recently, lets stop digging our own grave here by trading guys who will be key pieces in the near future.

    again not really an appealing option. I think if the Red Sox offer something like 4-5mil and he gets an offer from the devil rays or whoever for 6mil than I think he takes the Red Sox offer because he can get more saves and more coverage. In a sense hes playing for next years contract so I dont think 1-2 mil would effect him enough to go to a place where he wont be able to put up numbers hes capable of.

    I like the idea of signing both, could turn out bad, but theres some upside with both guys, before they got hurt they were elite set-up/CLs so even if one returns to form we would be in good shape.
