    In terms of posting an "ace-like" ERA when his peripherals don't support it at all I'd say he does. He's better than last year but nothing in his peripherals screams sub-3 ERA pitcher, and probably closer to a 4 ERA type guy in the long run.

Dojj said: "You really think that taking the crap of 25 or more pampered jocks is that easy?" And to that I say yes, for 4mil dollars I'd gladly tell John Smoltz he sucks and tell Beckett that he's pitching every five days. Personally I think the managers position is highly overrated and that it doesn't take a genius to arrange the 25 guys Theo gives him to work with every night.

    Good job by Clay, this was a big game for him facing the best lineup in baseball in Yankee Stadium and he put together a quality start. The walks will have to come down to be successful long term but it was a gutsy outing for him. Hard to win games when your team can't score ANY runs.

    Buchholz has had two pretty solid starts and a pair of stinkers, which is more than I can say about Smoltz.
