1. Who knows? Someone from some foreign country could be discovered and brought to the MLB.
2. I agree with pretty much everything you said here except for the part where you said the Cards are a playoff lock. The Cardinals are a great ballclub, no questioning that. I just don't know about this year. The team is aging a little bit. They'll probably have trouble staying healthy as they did last year. They have basically missed out on every target they had this offseason, and have lost several key components. (Grudzielanek, Sanders, Walker, Nunez, etc.) Also, in their division they have a 2005 world series participant that beat them in the NLCS. Houston now knows that they can beat St. Louis. Also in their division are the Cubs, who have improved this offseason, and I don't expect Mark Prior to be hit with another liner. Yet another strong team in their division is Milwaukee, a team on the upswing. I know St. Louis has their big guns, Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds, Mulder...I just don't know about this year. They will undoubtedly be competitive, but I wouldn't say they're a lock.
3. Argh, I wish I was in this. I like Pittsburgh and Seattle.
4. Wow. That doesn't make sense at all. Maybe it's because Beckett has had trouble keeping healthy recently so the price is lowered. But still...
5. My bad, I thought he was older than that. About the lineup...I don't think we should bat him leadoff (if we get him), I would rather see him in the 5 hole where he can drive in some runs. Also, in the five hole, he is sort of the 2nd leadoff hitter, because the person that leads off the most innings besides the leadoff man is the 5th batter. I really want to see what Youk can do leading off. If Youkilis was to faulter in the leadoff role, then maybe Edmonds could step in.
6. They have also posted on the site that the Cardinals are shopping Jim Edmonds around and the Sox are interested. If it's true, I'd be thrilled. Edmonds is 38, but a gold glover in CF and has a 35-100 stick. He would be a perfect 2 year solution until Ellsbury is ready. What do you guys think St. Louis would take in return?
7. Mark Loretta shouldn't hit leadoff. IMO, he's the best 2-hole hitter in baseball. Youkilis should hit leadoff. He'd have a crazy high OBP and set the table for Manny and Papi.
8. I agree, Krazee. P.S. I'm pretty sure ORS has my vote for most knowledgeable member.
9. Hahaha, they must have just read that, because I looked on the site right now and it now says the Seattle Times.
10. Yes, he probably could if we needed him to, given his decent OBP, .291 avg., and 18 stolen bases. However, I would prefer Youkilis to hit leadoff because he would do the best job of setting the table for Manny, Papi, and Tek.
11. How can you say that? In what was his first full year in the majors Peralta's numbers compare to Jeter's (2005 stats) like this: Peralta: 24 HR, 78 RBI, .292 avg., .366 OBP Jeter: 19 HR, 70 RBI, .309 avg., .389 OBP How can you say he'll never be as good as Jeter, when his numbers are already similar to Jeter's and Peralta still has upside? To say he would be a Guzman or Cabrera is ridiculous. He's already a monumentally better hitter than both of them. Also, if you're talking about now, the Sox need a shortstop, which Peralta is. So yes, I would trade Marte for Peralta.
12. Is there a separate thing for the Super Bowl??
13. My bad. You're right.
14. Dude, there's definitely something wrong with those stats. This is you.
15. Why would you try to figure that out yourself?? His career BAA is .281. Okay? I have to go now.
16. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5103/career;_ylt=AgjmPeKbyrY8O.mB68OAKpSFCLcF Also, his ERA is greatly inflated because in 1994 he pitched one game and ended with an ERA of 21.60
17. Where the hell are you getting this .354 BAA?!?!?!!?
18. Wow. Career BAA of .354!?!? Where did you get that?? It's actually .281. Next time you're going to burn someone, at least get his stats right.
19. Jeeze laweeze, 218 yards for Smith! They should have had more double coverages and more Nathan Vasher.
20. I'll be back next week.
21. Errrr.....errrrrrrr.........
22. Looks like they're not going to need two defensive touchdowns.
23. Felipe Lopez! (say it with expression and it's kind of...weird) EDIT: Grady Sizemore maybe?
24. I don't know, but he's not worth that. If that was the case I'd rather trade for a guy like Roberts or Payton.
25. How many more years until Ellsbury is ready do you guys think?
