    Place did get hit in the earflap but is fine. Theo was quoted in the globe and said it was team policy with guys that low in the system to hold him out a week. They are hoping he would be back for the GCL playoffs which the Red Sox are in after clinching the division this week.

    Place is likely out for the year as there have been rumors he was hit in the face with a pitch. Its not comfirmed but its also something the Red Sox organization likely will not announce.

    Ellsbury fouled a pitch off his foot on Tuesday's game and was not in the lineup on Wednesday. He should be back in tonight's lineup for Portland.

    Dan Roche has learned Red Sox outfielder Trot Nixon is hospitalized with an infection in his right elbow. Nixon apparently got the infection from a protective brace he's been wearing on his injured arm. http://cbs4boston.com/sports/local_story_227170234.html
