  1. Outside of Jason Schmidt, Barry Zito and the Japanese guy if his team posts him there is nothing impressive about the pitchers out there.
  2. I was for the Pedro trade because at that time the Red Sox did not have an ace pitcher. I was never high on Tony Armas Jr. but high on Carl Pavano. Pretty much if you made that trade today it would cost you double what the sox paid back then. After losing Clemens after 1996 and seeing the likes of steve avery and other bums pitch in 1997, DD did the smart thing and acquired a 26 year old ace. Right now the sox system is very thin at the top of it an trading the likes of Lester, Delcarmen and Hansen for Oswalt would create alot more holes in my opinion because of the weak FA class after this season and the fact it might be alot easier to build a bullpen from within. I would rather not have the EZ boys pitching in any tight situation and would rather give the innings to Hansen and Delcarmen who have betters arms even if they going through normal rookie struggles.
  3. But it wouldn't be just Lester for Oswalt. It would be alot more than that an would likely create more holes in the roster than fill them.
  4. The Red Sox had no choice to pitch Lester though and that is the difference. Loretta might be a veteran but he has an empty BA and when you look deep into his stats you will see how much of a disappointment he really has become.
  5. Jackson you don't need a dominant fastball to be great. Its all movement and location. His fastball is good enough to get by in this league. To already him a bust is not doing your homework and not having any patience. Go be a yankee fan if you don't want to be patient with this team.
  6. Though Ty can throw 90-92 mph off the mound, he won't follow in his brother's footsteps as a pitcher. Scouts still talk about the batting-practice show he put on at the Area Code Games last summer, displaying tremendous power to all fields. If scouts believed he could play catcher, he'd go in the first two rounds. But they're skeptical because he doesn't have the agility or receiving skills to match his arm strength. He's probably destined for first base, where much more offense is required, because he may lack the athleticism to handle an outfield corner. Nevertheless, his righthanded power is a valuable commodity, and he'll be a decent draft pick if he's considered signable away from Arkansas.
  7. They let those guys go to rebuild the farm system so they could acquire the extra high picks needed to replenish quickly. The only guy I would have kept would have been Lowe so we wouldn't have signed Clement. Lowe has never had any arm problems in his career unlike the other guy they let go.
  8. And if you were running this team we would have kept the entire 2004 team together for the next 4 years after that and they would have been on aarp after 2. Before you comment on Pedroia watch him play first. You have no idea about anyone in the Red Sox farm system.
  9. Pedroia has flat out raked at every level he has been at. He will easily win the job in the spring and there is no need to even bring loretta back for that reason. If you have ever watched him play you would see he is a much better player than Loretta and does alot more things to spark an offense.
  10. Pedroia is more than ready to take over and Loretta at 5 million plus is a waste as a backup infielder. You can pay backups alot less than that.
  11. Your likely an advocate of resigning him too aren't you?
  12. He's likely been pitching hurt.
  13. How is it full? Why because his average says .300. There are other stats to really judge how good a hitter is and BA is not one of them. 2 walk off hits. wow that is a big stat. I think you could ask alot more from him like more doubles. He was billed as a doubles guy and hasn't shown it. Its a joke the guy was voted an All-Star.
  14. He's paid to move runners from first to third. He was brought here to hit doubles. He may have the 5th highest OBP on the team but the lineup pretty much sucks which doesn't say much. He's not that good of a ballplayer and the stats I pointed out show that. A .733 OPS is unacceptable in my view from him.
  15. An empty .300 average to say the least http://www.redsoxstats.com/ weak slugging, weak isop, weak isod
  16. That was a huge start by him. Hopefully the bullpen can hold the lead.
  17. The fat man is looking good tonight
  18. He is also pitching in the NL and has a little frame. Pedro also had a little frame but had better stuff and a not so violent delivery as Oswalt and was also younger when he was acquired.
  19. Gostkowski just hit that FG inside the post. It was pretty close.
  20. He is shredding the Falcons. Even Dillon has looked good too.
  21. great play by lowell diving into the seats
  22. He's actually going to be 29 in 2 weeks and he is a little guy. I am also very wary of his violent delivery and how he would hold up. Giving up a ridiculous amount for him is not the way to go.
  23. His stuff is Andy Petitte basically and too me he was a pretty damn good pitcher. And who knows if you could have gotten Oswalt for him. Everything is speculation and the amount that the Red Sox would have had to give up would have been ridiculous to get him. Give the kid a break but you can't since you have no patience.
  24. what's with guys wearing #25 getting beaned in the head
