  1. Agreed. Kapler is a flat out joke and Tito is even more of a joke for playing this scrub.
  2. Pedroia is number 64. That won't last forever. He will get a better one next year.
  3. The Saudia Arabia team is all Americans. They are American kids living over seas.
  4. This team needs a bullpen and good starting pitching. If you don't have that then you can't even beat bad teams. The Red Sox chances at the playoffs are very slim with this lifeless bunch.
  5. The Mets don't need Shawn Green. What they need is a starter like David Wells.
  6. Is there anything more sickening than seeing Gabe Kapler getting starts. I would rather see Eric Hinske against a lefty than Gabe Kapler.
  7. For now they will do that but Loretta is a goner at the end of the year.
  8. I don't think it matters where he plays right now. He is pretty sound defensively though his range is better at 2nd than at short.
  9. He played both shortstop and and secondbase in Pawtucket. He knows how to play both positions.
  10. Here is today's lineup for the Red Sox: Coco Crisp, CF Mark Loretta, 2B David Ortiz, DH Kevin Youkilis, 1B Wily Mo Pena, RF Mike Lowell, 3B Doug Mirabelli, C Gabe Kapler, LF Dustin Pedroia, SS Kyle Snyder, P
  11. Pedroia starting at short and batting 9th tonight
  12. he played short at ASU. And he has played both 2nd and short in the red sox organization. He profiles as a secondbaseman and will be one next year.
  13. Come on is trading guys like Wells and Loretta really a damn fire sale. They are both guys who won't be here in 2007. This is not like selling off Manny or Ortiz.
  14. No 40 man roster move needs to be made as their was an extra spot on the roster already.
  15. Gibbons should have been fired already. He is a joke as a manager.
  16. If this team had the pitching most fans would have more faith but they have no starting pitching, no bullpen and a slumping offense and they are under playing under .500 against teams above .500 in the standings.
  17. He's more of a secondbaseman but will be forced to likely play short here. Loretta is likely not coming back next year.
  18. Laporta is heading back to Florida http://www.heraldtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060822/SPORTS/608220329/1006
  19. Pedroia will take hit fair share of walks but what he really is good at is not striking out. Pedroia has 27 strikeouts in 423 AB. A pace of 38 strikeouts in 600 AB. Dustin in time will be a #2 hitter in the lineup.
  20. Alvarez is hurt so its an excuse to get him on the 60 day DL without designating someone for assignment. Abe is done for the year anyways. That's not the official roster move to get Pedroia on the roster. I am just speculating that it could be that.
  21. Paper moves are basically used in the minors when guys get sent to different affliates but never play a game there. they are usually sent back the next day or 2 and thats why its called a paper move. Calling up Abe Alvarez to boston would be a paper move because he wouldnt play as he would go straight to the 60 day DL.
  22. Dustin Pedroia is heading to Anaheim as he was called up by the Boston Red Sox Monday night while he was with the Pawsox in Ottawa. Pedroia left the middle of the doubleheader game 1 to receive the news. A few roster moves will have to take place tomorrow. Dustin has to have his contract purchased to get him on the 40 man roster. Likely moves are Alex Gonzalez to the DL. Abe Alvarez called up in a paper move and placed on the 60 Day DL which will then free up a spot for Pedroia. The Providence Journal confirmed the callup tonight. http://www.projo.com/pawsox/content/projo_20060822_22pawsox.328254f.html
  23. I think they will do it. They are just waiting maybe 3-5 days to see if their is any life left in this team. Theo will do it. Lucky probably doesn't. In the end Theo will likely trade off players if things don't turn around in the next week.
  24. Anyone can be placed on waivers but no team would be foolish enough to pick up Lowell's money unless the Red Sox ate a bunch of it.
  25. It would but its better than getting absolutely nothing for free agents they are not signing. This team has shown no signs of life. They are dead tired. The bullpen is dead. Most of the starting rotation is dead. The DL list is filling up with players. If they have to throw in the towel then so be it. They are not a better team than NY, Chicago, Detroit, Minnesota and maybe even Anaheim. Injuries, age and declining performances are catching up to this team.
