  1. If the Red Sox lose 2 of 3 or get swept in Anaheim then I think they will throw in the towel.
  2. Just got the word that Pedroia is on his way to the west coast as his pawtucket teammates were hugging him and giving high fives on the way out. Gonzo should be going to the DL likely tomorrow.
  3. They have 9 days to dump players if this doesn't turn around on the west coast. Face it, its time to pretty much throw in the towel and trade guys like Wells and Loretta out of here.
  4. Loretta is a goner for sure. He is old and Pedroia in my mind is a better player and is a player that fans will love. I'd like Gonzo back but something tells me the sox will look to upgrade offensively if they can get Julio Lugo to play short at the the right price. Lugo would be your leadoff and a pretty good one too.
  5. Without a doubt. I believe the roster move will look like this. The sox need to create space on the 40 man roster to get Pedroia on it. The first move is going to likely be Gonzalez to the DL. Then Abe Alvarez is going to likely be called up to Boston and then transfered to the 60 day DL in a paper move freeing up a 40 man roster spot for Dustin Pedroia.
  6. I don't know how those parameters work per say but it might require him being on the 40 man roster at some point before he is ready. Don't get me wrong. I want Bard to sign and the Red Sox need Bard to sign. He is a red sox fan and grew a red sox fan with massachusetts roots. I still see this deal getting done somehow. He may have registered for classes but that doesn't mean he will go to them.
  7. The sticking point is a major league contract. Bard wants a major league contract like Hansen got. He doesn't deserve it because he is a work in progress. He has a fastball that is good and an occasional slider. He's a pitcher that will need to be broken down to be built back up again. A lot of tools but a poor development job by UNC. With that said I still want him signed and hope he signs.
  8. 90% sure LaPorta is going back to school. Bard I have heard has registered for fall classes but that could be a typical Scott Boras tactic. He wants to sign with the Red Sox.
  9. And with what pitching does this team plan to get back in the race with.
  10. Dustin Pedroia (who was playing DH) has been removed from the game. It is quite possible that he's heading for Boston. A-Gon had a setback today.

  12. Alot of baseball but if you can't tell the team is so flawed to even make a run.
  13. Wells cleared waivers already on august 3rd.....The Red Sox are not likely to break out of this downward turn. They have no bullpen. No starting pitching and outside of Ortiz and Ramirez an offense that is struggling. I would say this team is pretty much cooked and dumping wells to get a prospect is the right thing to do.
  14. Apprently Loretta has cleared waivers as they almost traded him to the Tigers so he can be traded.
  15. wells i would move soon as with loretta. foulke if he pitches well down the stretch might bring him back on his player option of 3.75 mil. tavarez comes back even though he sucks cause of his contract. cora likely back as well. Hinske could be trade bait.
  16. The Red Sox are not a contender. What have you seen out of them that makes you think this team can recover. They are pretty much finished right now and get something for Wells before he can retire.
  17. yes without question before the 31st
  18. Whoever said anything about a top prospect. I said get a prospect in return whether its a mid to low level guy.
  19. If the Sox keep falling out of this thing what are the chances we can sneak Wells through waivers to trade him to the Mets who would love to have him and we could get a prospect in return.
  20. I would have given Charlie Zink the start on Friday against NY instead of Johnson.
  21. 1. Meredith was not a top prospect and was not highly thought of so your wrong there. 2. His blowup came against the Mariner's Richie Sexson. 3. Taking your lumps is all about being a young player. Hansen's ability is there and he is still likely to be a very effective pitcher.
  22. I doubt it was about saving money really. They had no other option when both tavarez and seanez sucked, foulke was hurt and timlin started to implode. He was rushed but it was not about saving money. It was the guys who were supposed to do the job failed.
