  1. Your whole budget went on pitching. Even so most budgets couldn't handle all of that pitching. It's a good strategy in that many leagues are weighted toward pitching.
  2. Snark is not humor except to those on the giving end of it. Give that a rest.
  3. Of course the snarky *******s sharpen their knives when someone has an opinion that differs from theirs. Do you ever get tired of being a jackass.
  4. IMO, it has clearly been a single factor(emphasis added- there are other factors) that has disrupted the entire lineup. It is taking a long time for the lineup to adjust to his absence. I don't think the ideal lineup for the Sox is to have Pedroia batting leadoff, but no one else has laid claim to the spot. Pedroia has his biggest impact in the 3 hole. The best thing that can happen for the 2014 Red Sox offense would be for Sizemore or Bradley to step forward and show offensive consistency that could be used in the lead off spot.
  5. I wouldn't put Bradley in a category with Dewey Evans. Bradley has a strong arm. Dewey had a howitzer. Players just did not go first to third on him. I don't know what the metrics show, but I wouldn't be surprised if they showed that Victorino is the better OFer than Bradley. I always thought Victorino was the best OFer on the 2013 squad. People forget about Darren Lewis. He might have been the best Boston OFer since Dewey. Since Spring Training it has been frequently discussed how Farrell was having trouble filling the lead off spot. The loss of Ellsbury from that spot has had a cascading effect in that it has forced Pedroia to lead off -- a position that he has not thrived in. Pedroia is one of our top 2 hitters. He should be batting 3rd in front of Ortiz. Moving him to the lead off spot has disturbed the dynamic of our lineup. It's pretty obvious IMO.
  6. Bradley will be fine. The problem is that he is not playing LF flanking Ellsbury. The difference in this team is the loss of the catalyst at the top of the lineup.
  7. Sizemore with a big night for the win. Thank goodness we didn't have to see Bogey bat with RISP in that inning. Painful.
  8. We ran ourselves out of that inning -- stupid when the big hitters are coming up.
  9. Koji was very lucky to escape that inning.
  10. He has been brutal in big spots.
  11. Taz is not getting it done tonight.
  12. Going into this game Bogey's average with RISP was .133. Yikes!
  13. What are Bogaerts' stats with RISP?
  14. It will be a matter of whether one of the teams can catch fire and separate itself from the pack.
  15. Nava's awareness on the basepaths is atrocious. He has pulled more than his share of rocks on the bases.
  16. I don't know what Bradley will turn out to be. He is clearly in a developmental stage. I doubt that he will become the player that Ellsbury became. I just don't see that set of tools in the kid's bag. Clearly, our offensive problem at this stage of the season is that we have replaced our #1 hitter who was an offensive catalyst and the biggest base running threat in baseball except for Billy Hamilton with a #9 hitter. That much is as clear as the nose on your face. We can sit here and debate whether or not his contract is worth it, but that is not the point. The point is that his leaving is really having a big negative impact on our offense to this point in the season. No one has been able to step up to fill that void as of yet.
  17. This team just can't get in gear to go on a tear. Their longest winning streak has been 2 games.
