  1. Lol! Not how I expected it, but it is a double play nonetheless. Even when he hits the ball he is a disaster.
  2. Jr will do the worst possible thing?
  3. Is automatic out Jr on deck? Napoli gets nothing to hit here.
  4. Farrell is just letting Buchholz hang himself lately.
  5. He has been a choker his entire career. A bad closer can completely undermine a team. Sofia relieved Nathan and then he left with an injury.
  6. We are all very aware of his defense. But as Kruk said on Sunday, if you can't hit, you can't play. It is as simple as that. A guy that strikes out 150 times and hits 1 HR is not going to play even if he has 2 gloves.
  7. No one disputes Webster's stuff. His command needs improvement and his heart is in question. The are low pressure games, so they aren't the best measure. I hope that if he does well that they use him as a trade chip and get some value.
  8. One thing to note is that Lester expressed a desire to "stay" in Boston. Undoubtedly, he didn't want to uproot his family. He didn't want to stay because he enjoys the traffic patterns in and around the Boston area or because he loves the fans. Now that we have uprooted him and his family by trading him, they will see and live in a new place for a couple of months. Maybe they decide to put down roots elsewhere.
  9. I also hope that it doesn't come down to losing another of our homegrown stars to the Yanks. I have had enough of that, and I will not care about any BS rationalization that they float in the press. Lester could have been locked up in Spring Training with a reasonable deal. They offered him F.U. Money and it probably pissed him off. Now, he will probably give them an F.U. and sign elsewhere. If he signs with the Yankees, Red Sox Nation had better stock up on KY jelly because it will be painful getting beat by our 2 former heros wearing Yankee uniforms.
  10. I disagree. Prove me wrong.
  11. It should be pointed out that the statisitics are just bearing out what others have noticed. When the stats confirm the observation, the argument by the deniers is that the sample size is too small. The problem is that the sample size is becoming larger and larger. I think it is pretty clear from all of the evidence that the kid has some squirrels running around inside his head when there are runners in scoring position. Hopefully, he grows out of this sooner than later.
  12. I should clarify that this is no different than most sports organizations. They all have this goal. It's all about making money, not winning. They only try to win to help them make money.
  13. That is about as official as the desgnation of Fenway Park as "America's Most Beloved Ballpark."
  14. Conspiracy? Other than your assumptions about Farrell and Cherrington being intelligent, I think that you have hit the nail on the head. This probably the main goal for the Red Sox organization.
  15. Lester pitched 3 hit complete game shutout last night. His cash register is ringing up his pricer almost as fast as the National Debt clock. I can't see us outbidding the Yankees. OUr best shot will probably be with Scherzer. I think the Tigers getting Price who is under contract for another season means that the Tigers are not going to attempt to re-sign Scherzer.
  16. I was listening to the Cardinal feed yesterday. McCarver agrees with you. I don't know if that makes you more confident or less confident in your position. BTW, I thought that McCarver had retired. I guess the truth is that he was fired by the Nsatioonal Networks and the retirement story allowed him to save face.
  17. He has almost 500 ABs and he has 28 RBI, but he does have a whopping 46 runs scored. Of course, we have been told that these numbers and his stats with RISP mean nothing.
  18. E1 it is great to have you back, but we differ fundamentally about the intellectual prowess of managers.
  19. 0 for 26. Automatic Out Jr. is living up to his name.
  20. Yuk. What a waste having him on the roster.
  21. what was the correspondingly move for sending down Mookie?
  22. The bottom five of our lineup against the best pitcher in the NL is, XB, Vasquez, Automatic Out JR., Middlebrooks and WorkMan. I am hoping for a rain out.
  23. This season for XB has been like an octogon -- he's constantly turning a corner.
  24. Fred, sometimes it is better to be lucky than to be good, and last season, Farrell had a boat load of luck.
