  1. You can't resist trolling by quoting the jackass.
  2. It's like groundhog day for Red Sox fans, except that the truck never sees its shadow signaling more of winter.
  3. Bobby V did a horrible job, but the Bard debacle was dictated by the FO. That one is at the feet of Ben Cherington.
  4. I am not ready to give a comprehensive set of projections like BSN, but here are the keys to the 2015 season IMO: Starting Pitching: Buchholz is the key. He's in a contract year. If he comes out like he did in 2013, that will set a good tone for the whole rotation. The second key is Masterson who has to show marked improvement from 2014 Defensive Key: Bogaerts needs to take his game to the next level, especially since we have a staff full of groundball pitchers Offensive Key:Victorino and Castillo. I expect Hanley and Papi and Sandoval to do what they always do, but we need some catalysts. We need 130-140 games from Victorino and Castillo needs to produce. He can't be Bradley 2.0.
  5. I really was not a Bobby V supporter. His approach of calling out Youkilis backfired on him, but I can't put all the blame on him for 2012. The FO was insistent that Bard become a starter. Bobby V knew that the kid couldn't do it. About halfway through camp, he approached Bard and asked him if he was really set on going through with being a starter. That should have been a flashing warning light to Bard that he didn't have what it takes to start. The kid was stubborn and the FO backed him. Bobby V was dropping hints all over the place that Bard wasn't progressing. Finally, when Bard blew up during the regular season, Bobby V left him in a game where he got humiliated. He hit a bunch of people and walked another bunch and it was the worst start by a starting pitcher in almost 100 years. There was no choice but to demote him after that game.
  6. The problem wasn't Bobby V's camp. It was his alienating the veterans by making his first order of business going after Youkilis. By contrast, Tito's last camp was like the day of the zombies. A relaxed camp is one thing, but that group was sleep walking. That attitude carried over to the start of the season. They didn't realize that the regular season started until they were half way through April. Wins and losses in ST mean nothing, but players do need to ramp up to be physically and mentally ready for the opening bell.
  7. I'd like to see him get a lot of ABs. I think he could sub at all 3 OF positions and Victorino will probably need a couple of off days each week.
  8. Yep, as the season gets closer, we will get more and more optimistic. Hopefully, this years team will not kill hope as early as last years team did.
  9. I think the big question is XB. I do not think he was up to snuff last year, but I am encouraged to hear that he has been working hard in the off season. A good fielding SS will be critical to a sinkerball staff. As you pointed out, we are solid at second and first. In the OF, Hanley should be able to handle LF. When healthy, Victorino is one of the best RFers in the game. Castillo looked okay in CF in limited action. Keep your fingers crossed that XB takes his defense to the next level.
  10. Is anyone considering making the trip to Cooperstown for Pedro's induction?
  11. If the Nationals fall out of the race, those guys are in play, but if they are smoking the NLE, the Nats will stand pat with them.
  12. They can just walk to the other side of the island to Haiti and they will think they are on the moon.
  13. With 2 wild card teams in each league and parity across baseball, there aren't to many teams that are willing to throw in the towel at mid season. Those teams that are so far out of it that they break up the team may not have any good pitchers in the final years of their contracts. That pool varies from year to year.
  14. I don't put much trust in the organization's ability with regard to physicals.
  15. He's also in a contract year.
  16. Lee scares me off. If it is just a question of money... maybe? Amaro should be happy just to off-load his contract.
  17. So, the starting OF would be Hanley, Victorino, and Craig/Betts with Castillo in AAA?
  18. I am curious as to the prediction that Castillo will start the season in AAA. Are you envisioning an Opening Day OF of Betts, Craig and Victorino?
  19. It will be hard to be consistent in the back of the pen for 16 seasons like they were with Mo. Last year was a good year, but going forward it will be a bigger challenge than just renewing Mo.
  20. The stabilizing factor on that team for so long was having that big hammer at the back of the bullpen. They will find that consistency in a post-Mo world is ellusive.
  21. Narrative? Another of those political words. I thought you don't watch cable news. LOL!! Please state facts and not just make accusations. I am sure that you know the difference. You are a CPA.
  22. What MVP made a false accusation when taking a shot? That is pretty much the norm.
