  1. We need Napoli to get his bat going. He was ripping homers in Spring Training, but thus far he has been truly horrible.
  2. I would hope that his stock will rise with a good showing in his current stint in the bigs.
  3. Buch needs to step up and pitch consistently well.
  4. I am thrilled that the team is playing better than .500 on the West Coast trip. They need to hang in there until the rottation can be upgraded at a couple of spots. They are in the process of upgrading Masterson's spot. Maybe Wright will seize the moment. It is probably his last chance. We need for the other spot to shake out. Will Buch or Kelly right their ships. If one falters, next up Brian Johnson. In the meantime, the Yankees are failing to capitalize on the fact that the rest of the division is injured and/or in disarray. They may regret not having put more games in the W column in this stretch.
  5. I continue to be amazed at how he consistently gets guys out with his velocity. The last 2 or 3 pitches he threw last night registered at 79 mph and they didn't look like splitters.
  6. Barnes looked like a big spaz on that play. Pedroia could hardly contain his laughter.
  7. I thought Napoli was catching fire over the weekend and at the beginning of the week. That certainly fizzled.
  8. Kelly has pitched very well tonight. If he could pitch like this just half the time, that would be all that we could ask of him.
  9. We need to remember tonight when he looks helpless against right handed pitching.
  10. it is the 2 suck ass starts that he sandwiches around a start like tonight that are the problem. I don't really see him leaving town, but I could see him moved to the pen. As a starter, he has a very hard time getting to the 6th inning. Tonight he is having a good outing, but he has never been remotely consistent.
  11. The hope for our rotation to improve is that 2 or 3 of the guys in the current rotation get replaced. The process is already underway. Masterson is the first to go. I doubt that he will be anything other than a spot starter going forward. The questions remaining are who is next to follow Masterson and who will replace them. The replacements could both be internal, but more likely one will be internal and the will have to look outside the organization for the second one. Staying pat is not an option, because these guys stink even if they improve from the 6 ERA.
  12. There may be an open seat for Kelly next to Masterson on the bus leaving town.
  13. Wright will be on a snort leash.
  14. Victorino has always murdered left handed pitching. He has a lot of trouble with righties, which is why platooning him with Bradley is a good idea.
  15. Often times velocity doesn't return after it is lost due to injury or merely wear and tear. If they merely expected it to return, they didn't do their homework. With regard to Porcello, I thought he was a solid acquisition and thought him to be a solid 3 with a potential to be a 2. What I thought was a mistake was paying him on a 4 year contract like he is an established 1/2 when he is still a potential 2. If you are going to use my arguments in making your points, if you get my opinions and statements wrong, it detracts from your argument.
  16. I am very anxious to see what Johnson can do.
  17. Don't attribute the arguments or statements of others to me. I never called Porcello's season a "fluke", but I do stand by my statement that the 2014 seasons of Masterson and Buchholz presented cause for concern as did Miley 's 2014 season. While 1 season might not establish a trend, it was cause for concern. The concerning 2014 performances were not for 1 but 3 members of the 5 man rotation, so it was foreseeable that the rotation could fall apart. Also, I am very curious about any indications that Masterson would improve. Had there been any indication that his lost velocity had returned?
  18. It is no comfort to me knowing that our pitching staff will not finish with a 6 ERA. I don't think any team has finished a season with a 6 ERA. I don't need any stats to tell me that our pitching will get better, but that doesn't mean that they will be good. At best, this staff could have been projected as mediocre. There was most definitely a valid concern that it would be a train wreck. The most recent performance (2014) of Masterson and Buchholz indicated a disturbing trend downward. That trend has continued with Masterson and the FO has acknowledged that the signing was a mistake by forcing him onto a phantom DL in the middle of May. Buch has continued the inconsistency that he demonstrated throughout 2014. Miley's 2014 performance also also indicated a disturbing trend down in performance. No one could foresee or would predict a 6+ ERA at this point, because that is something that I don't think has ever occurred over the course of a full season, but there was plenty of statistics that indicated that this staff could turn out very bad. I remember posters expressing concerns of dire consequences before the season and some of those posters are generally thought to be optimists.
  19. Masterson to hit the phantom DL. He had to be taken out of the rotation. He has nothing. Knuckleballer Steven Wright to take his next start. Another FO reactionary move to appease the rabid fanbase. LOL!!!
  20. If you had asked me if I knew the Mariners pitcher, I probably would have guessed that he was an opera singer. After beating Gray yesterday, this unknown will probably make us look helpless.
  21. Although a quality start of 6 innings and 3 runs is a 4.5 ERA, it will not work out evenly like that. His quality start today with a 0 ERA will be balanced out by a couple of games with 6 ERAs. If he gets 10 QS, how good is that? In 30 starts, that would be a 4 or a 5. Less than 10 QS in 30 starts, and he is a bad 4 or 5.
  22. He serving up slop. The fact that he has had some competitive outings has been pure luck
  23. He's not a 6+ ERA pitcher. There aren't too many of those that pitch for more than 1 season. He's probably a 4.5+ ERA guy which has his needle on boderline stinks.
  24. i hope you didn't ask one of your teacher colleagues. Lol!
  25. A West Coast series win. I"ll take it
