    I had to go to a Wedding Rehearsal dinner tonight. It looks like I missed a good game. Mookie with 4 hits. ERcpitched well. My mojo carried over from yesterday's game. We should close this out and I get to go for 3 in row tomorrow.

    I had heard that Ventura was injured earlier in the week, but several websites still list him as starting tonight. I' ll check on that.

    The first year it opened the menu was varied and the food was pretty good and reasonably priced. By the second year, the menu was your standard sports bar menu -- backs and burgers.

    As frustrating as the hitting has been, improving the pitching is paramount. A team with the worst pitching will not be successful no matter how good its hitting. Our hitting has been showing signs of life lately. In a post steroid age, good pitching is the key. Just last night 6 pitchers threw quality starts and lost their games : Carlos Martinez, Kershaw, Danks, Urena, Baumgarner, and Zimmerman. Additionally, Hector Santiago went 5 innings giving up only 2 runs and got the Loss. A quality start is often not enough and we don't get enough quality starts. The first step to getting better -- improve the garbage pail pitching.

    That is his challenge. I think he realizes that his job is on the line so he will have to make some changes.

    Ben is a standup guy and so was Theo. They have always been willing to take responsibility even when others held them blameless.

    So we are going to roll out Cy Kelly to the mound again today . . . seriously? Another day clicks off the calendar and make no moves. Irrelevancy is making a quick advance on us, and our current crew doesn't have what it takes to stave it off.
