  1. If the Phillies eat some of his salary and the prospect price is reasonable, Hamels would help anchor the staff for a few years to come even if he can't help push us to the post season in 2015.
  2. ER looks like a stud. They need to make a move for a top pitcher sooner or later. The post steroid era dictates that they strengthen their pitching. Get Hamels and hope the offense starts clicking.
  3. I still think there is a chance to turn this around. They will have to take some action soon.
  4. The team hits, pitches, fields and runs the bases poorly. It turned out to be as very balanced bad team, but let's give Ben another mulligan, because we should have hit.
  5. Napoli's decline started last year.
  6. You are right. He is not even a good extra outfielder.
  7. Rusney is a very expensive extra outfielder.
  8. He's over the hill. It's tee time for him.
  9. He is still sporting an atrocious ERA over 5. At least he hasstayed away from the Home Run ball. Farrell is waiting until Porcello puts this game out of reach.
  10. I get all the games on Direct TV, so I am watching dome good baseball instead of being subjected to Ben's Bums. But I can't resist checking back.
  11. Oh, I didn't realize that. In that case, both of those plays should be included in the stupid base running stat. Kimmi, do you know if the get counted in the stat?
  12. I am just wondering what goes into the stat. A statistic can have reliability only if the data is good. Imo, XB's play wasn't stupid as the ball went over the centerfielder's head and Jones had to play the carom perfectly and make a strong accurate throw. Panda's was a stupid play, as the difficulty for the Left fielder was much less than Jones's play and Panda is a slow runner.
  13. I am not sure what point you are trying to make with this information by calling it a " double whammy". Are you making the point that his performance is not his fault or is it commentary on his inability to make adjustments. I'm not sure what you meant by this.
  14. So would either of those plays be counted under that stat for stupid base running?
  15. Skanks lost in extra frames.
  16. Yankees come back from a 2-0 deficit in the bottom of the 7th to take a 4-2 lead against the Nats.
  17. There is still time to turn this around, but the time to act is now. The current roster is not good enough to turn things around. The FO needs to make some moves soon, instead of wasting their time making uneccessary moves regarding the last bench player.
  18. Not just fallible, but very inaccurate.
  19. Eventually the losing turns into a situation where your boat has taken on too much water. That happens around midseason.
  20. They need to make their move and turn this around fast. If they are sitting 5 or more games below .500 and in fourth or last place on July 4, their playoff chances for the season will be over. All that will be left is to play out the schedule.
  21. I know that many think the Astros are going to fall back to earth, but I disagree. I have been watching a lot of their games and they have some studs in the rotation. Kechuel (sp) is very good and this kid McCullers who just came up can throw the ball through a brick wall and go deep into games. They have a great catalyst in Altuve and other good looking young players like Springer (huge power) and they just called up their top prospect Correia to play SS. Every day that they stay in the race they grow in confidence. I don't see them falling apart.
  22. We are not the only ones. Preseason projections mean nothing.
  23. The 4th of July and will be a good barometer for the team's 2015 prospects. Over the last two seasons, only 1 of the 20 playoff spots went to a team that had a below .500 record on the 4th of July -- 2013 Dodgers. They were 4 games under .500. If we are still under .500 on July 4th and mired in last place, 2015 will be over for the Red Sox. There will be no regressing to a playoff spot. At that picture point they should start backing up the truck and loading on the trash and have a tag sale.
  24. The Yankees win again behind Tanaka and we lose in the battle for last place falling 7 games behind the Yankees in the loss column, ... but it is early.
