  1. if we finish dead last again, I think there is a very good chance we get a new GM.
  2. Then the price should be a lot higher. I thought this was a contract year for him.
  3. your next to last sentence is the key to why it will not happen.
  4. They need to make moves to get back in this race. If not , the only thing under us in the standings on Fenway's green monster will be the warning track.
  5. This year would be the time to move Buch. He has had a lot of problems putting together back to back productive seasons, but we probably can't get much for a couple of months of Buch.
  6. I don't think they do. If there was a thought of making such a move, we would be hearing that Hanley was working out at first base. They are going to stubbornly stick to this failed LF experiment. He is taking forever just to be serviceable out there, because he has terrible OF instincts. It is like the Bard situation. Everyone could tell that he was flushing down the toilet. Bobby V knew it. The only two that didn't know we're Bard and Ben. Ben stuck stubbornly to the experiment until it was humiliating and embarrassing. I could tell seeing him one day in person in Spring Training that he was going to have major problems. If I could see it (and I have progressive lenses), how could the coaches not see it, or did they see it and hoped for the best.
  7. With improvement from Miley and Porcello, they are still a rotation with about a 4 ERA and that is not good enough to be competitive in today's game. That is why you are in denial. I never said you were delusional. This isn't 2002-2008 where a 4 ERA is middle of the pack. It is below average now. It is not mediocre. It kinda stinks. It would be a huge improvement from what they have been putting up, which has been horrendous. Stink would be a marked improvement, but it would still be stink. You can't compete with a 4+ ERA today.
  8. The stuff isn't there anymore. He's lost too much off his fastball, and it isn't coming back. They are wasting their time with him.
  9. A rotation is 5 guys. Who is the 5th guy? You can't just say that a top 4 is workable if you are filling the 5th slot with a 5 ERA guy. And that top 4 is workable if you want a 4th place team. Buchholz and ER don't need to improve. They have been good, and this is still a last place team. The problem is that the other 2 guys are 4.5 ERA guys even if they improve and the 5th slot is a disaster. You are in denial as is the FO.
  10. Pitching is still very bad. You can't win consistently with bad pitching.
  11. I was at Fenway for his MLB debut in the first game of a Day/Night double header against the Angels in 2007. I remember the Buzz around him coming up. He won that day and went 5 or 6 innings. I remember that his changeup was tremendously deceptive and he got lots of swings and misses. I also remember watching him stretch out in the OF before the game and thinking that he looked like he was 11 years old and that he topped at at 135 lbs. LOL!! My hopes were sky high for him back then and they got highers after his next start which was a no-hitter. There has been a lot of water under the Buchholz bridge since then, but his talent has not been in question. Any questions have been around heart and health. It is a contract year, maybe he will have a big year, but it will be wasted on this team unless the FO decides to make some bold moves.
  12. Great game for Buch! I was a little disappointed that he didn't get the shut out. He pitched great.
  13. Getting a glimpse of Great Buch, not just Good Buch.
  14. Funny play of the game was Panda falling into the Astro dugout. They were in danger of losing a third of their team.
  15. Betts puts the ball in play and gets the SF. 2-0 Red Sox
  16. A rare hit from Leon. That bodes well. First and third with one out.
  17. It is a shame that Victorino can't stay healthy. He would really help this team.
  18. How much longer can they run Napoli out there hitting under .200?
  19. Fingers crossed that we still get Good Buchholz.
  20. Lackey is a far better pitcher when healthy than Porcello. Lackey's career stats are somewhat skewed by an injured season where he continued to pitch and put up one of the all-time worst seasons by a starting pitcher with an ERA over 6. It sticks out like a sore thumb on his record.
  21. They should bring these guys up immediately. This season is shot. Ben is delusional and doesn't think we need a top of the rotation starter bad enough to pay the price in a trade or free agency, so there will be no help on the way in that way. Standing pat is a recipe for losing and embarrassment. Bring up the kids. There is nothing to lose. The kids will gets much needed seasoning and some of them will prove themselves ready for the big leagues and others will prove that they need more time in the minors and some will show that they just don't have major league stuff. It is better to find it out in a lost season than to have 3 of these guys in the rotation in 2016 without getting them some meaningful experience in 2015. If we throw 3 rookies in the rotation in 2016, we might as well write off 2016 as a last place finish too. There is half Ia season to get these kids experience. They should use it. it isan opportunity for theFOthat they are probably to thick headed and stupid to use as they continue to expect Miley, Porcello and others to lead a pennant charge.
  22. Agreed. Have him throw his bullpen during the game. If he feels, good let him spend his bullets in the game. If he doesn't feel good, there isa second mound in the pen to warm upsomeone along with him like Barnes or Ramirez.
