    Are you a Red Sox fan? Everyone that calls Papelbon can't explain what he did while he was in Boston to justify calling him that.

    DiPoto's tenure with the Red Sox will not vest him in a pension. He took the Mariners GM job. Ben remains unemployed. I mean " on vacation"

    Tentatively? Reading between the lines as Hawk Harrelson would say, "He gone!" Here's an idea, trade him to the Nats for Papelbon. The Nats need a first baseman and Papelbon is a goner after the Harper dust up. Getting Papelbon in the salary swap is better than just eating the whole salary and getting nothing which is approximately Hanley's worth.

    I know lots of Red Sox fans hate Papelbon and that is just ridiculous to me. He was the best closer in my lifetime and he was a big part of a Championship team and several other very competitive Red Sox teams. His durability is and reliability were and are second to none. You could set your clock to the guy. I love Koji, and he had one of the greatest closer seasons ever in 2013, but his reliability and durability just do not match Papelbon's

    I work at a much larger company than the Boston Red Sox, and I can assure you that upper management is always aware of changes to our marketing campaigns. Changing the play by play TV announcer at a network that accounts for a significant portion of the team's value was undoubtedly brought to the owners prior to the announcement. The owners would always have a veto in those situations.

    Yes, I think that was part of the back story, but something with Harper's AB triggered Papelbon. He might still have been stewing about Harper's comments from the prior day.

    I just don't remember him being a clubhouse problem when he was with the Red Sox, and I also don't remember any time when he didn't give 100% or work off his tail. So, I am not getting the douche angle.

    The Mets have three other all star stud pitchers - deGrom, Syndegard, and Matz. They also have Wheeler. Harvey is the closest to Arbitration and Free Agency and the word on the inside is that the relationship between Harvey and the Mets FO is irreparable.

    It looked like Papelbon called him out for dogging it. Harper didn't like it and shot back. Harper is immature, with an attitude problem. He needs a good ass kicking ans Papelbon was the one willing to administer it.

    i f the Red Sox were coming off a winning season instead of back to back last place performances, I think they would give Hill every opportunity to win a spot next season. After back to back last place finishes and 3 out of the last four seasons in last place, I don't think they will take the risk that he will finally stay healthy and perform well as a starter for the first time at age 35.

    August and September mean nothing. This team needs a whole re-tooled bullpen and a couple of top starters. I don't think you need to worry that DD will have to sacrifice the future to accomplish what he needs to do. He should have no problem creating sustainable winning for several years. With the resources at his disposal there is no reason to be finishing last 3 out of seasons. And success can be maintained without stripping the farm bare.

    Where you go wrong is that you attribute intent on someone else's behalf. It is all a joke. Lighten up, teach, and stop making prejudgments. I don't even know what Mike Hazbeen looks like and he hasn't done anything yet so why would I criticize him?

    I want to see DD take the team from the extreme of teams being out of the race by August 1st to teams being competitive year in and year out.

    I can't see this guy being part of our plans next season or beyond. He is 34 and is finally healthy for the first time in 7 seasons. He has to seize the moment. He is not going to be looking for a minor league contract. He will want a legit chance to crack a major league rotation. He will not get that in Boston with the glut of mediocre starters that we have. If he can't get a major league starting spot, I think he will go to Japan.

    The bullpen needs a top to bottom overhaul. You have said that you would prefer to get 2 top starters. That is the heart of the staff that needs to be filled. We have plenty of #4 and 5 types, but they are more filler than anything else. You say that we will keep Buch and you want them to keep Miley. Porcello is going nowhere because of his ridiculous contract. ER has earned a spot. What about Kelly? Some of these guys have to go or there will be no room for 2 new top starters. Which guys do you want to keep and which should go? We can't keep them all or there is no room for 2 new top starters.

    The team Ben left behind needs a complete pitching overhaul. He also left the wreckage of three last place teams. Other than that, good job, Ben! Kudos! We will give you a recommendation.

    You seemed to like "Mike the Ass" -- a name that another poster came up with, not me. You lol'd it. I just tried to agree with you and go along with the crowd, but even when I do that you criticize me. You should try a new act. I haven't criticized Hazen yet. I suspect that he will be a errand boy.
