  1. Blather, because I don't care about others opinions of fans -- unless it is about Yankee fans.
  2. I saw Hernandez in Spring Training. I liked his tool set and his hustle and heads up play. I think CP176 was right about this kid. I also think the fans will like him when they see him play.
  3. But that glitch is not there when he hits a ball like yesterday's Home Run. I agree about the glitch. I am just puzzled how it is not there at times and he hits the ball a mile.
  4. You have no way of knowing that. It is just your opinion. And we had a very serious and immediate need at closer, and DD got us the best one in the game today. IMO not an overpay. You need to put these posts in the Dead Horse thread.
  5. I don't doubt those statistics, but those are averages. What was the exit velocity on his Home Run yesterday? I would bet that it was much higher than 88 mph. I am just surprised that we don't see that more often from Bogaerts as he has shown the capability to supercharge a baseball.
  6. If Ben had taken a stance against all the bad moves but was overruled by LL and Henry, Henry would have fired only LL as it would have been clear to him that Ben had the better baseball head. Henry fired both of them which indicates to me that Ben was complicit to a high degree in the bad moves.
  7. It was pretty clear that the Red Sox had intended for Vasquez to be the #1 catcher if healthy. He is hands down the best defensive catcher in the organization. They sent him on a rehab assignment. I am pretty sure that he has options left, but they made it known that he was going on a rehab assignment. Their plan in that regard was clear before opening day. When healthy, he would return as the #1 catcher. This wasn't clear to you? But it is crystall clear to you that Cherington had nothing to do with the Panda acquisition. You talk about the bias of other posters, but you have some obvious biases that are not backed by or based in facts or statistics. That's okay, because this place is all about opinions, and even the statistics presented during arguments rarely (extremely rarely) establish or prove any thing.
  8. Vasquez went to the minors on a rehab assignment. Once he finished that, it was certain that he would be coming up as he is our best catcher and probably the organization's future at the catching position. That leaves 2 choices-- 1. send down Swihart. 2. Trade or DFA Hannigan. One of these 2 things was imminently inevitable. Which would have been your choice?
  9. Continuing to play Panda at the weight he reported at in Spring Training would have quickly been exposed as irrational, especially as he puts on weight during the season. It would have become quickly obvious that he cannot play up to major league standards. Benching Panda and the subsequent DL saved the Red Sox from the embarrassment that he surely would have brought upon himself and the team had he played.
  10. When he gets one on the sweet spot that he can pull, he really puts a charge into it and hits it a long way. That has been evident since 2013. I am just surprised that it happens so infrequently.
  11. ^This post is blather.
  12. it will not be as bad as the last 3 of 4 years when they had the patient approach.
  13. I am not stating it as a fact. It is just something that I have heard announcers and other baseball people say -- that catching is the fastest rout to the majors and that catchers seem to stick around the longest. I don't think that sk has any factual basis for saying the opposite.
  14. you have no knowledge that Pablo wasn't Ben's initiative. You keep saying this with no evidence to back it up except for your own assumption. Stop making up stuff.
  15. Porcello can put up wins giving up a couple of HRs a long as our offense averages 5+ runs a game.
  16. Kimmi, the main objective in the sport is winning. What reeks is losing.
  17. I don't think this is factual at all. I think it is commonly believed that catcher is one of the fastest routes to the majors and one of the longer tenured positions.
  18. He should be catching in AAA to refine his defensive skills. I agree that moving him to another position would hurt his trade value.
  19. The MRI Results just came in on the MRI. They were inconclusive as the test could not penetrate that many layers of fat.
  20. This is a disgrace.
  21. I watched a few minutes of the DBacks - Dodgers game tonight to see Stripling. Scully was doing the game. Hs broadcasts should all be archived as works of art. If you have never heard Sully broadcast a Dodger game, you must get the Extra Innings package and take in one of his broadcasts before the end of the year. My favorite line tonight was when AGon got jammed and hit a little soft liner to the second baseman. Scully noted that AGon got jammed and said that "it sounded like he hit it with the morning newspaper."
  22. Papelbon 0 Earned Runs in 2 League Championship Series and 1 World Series. Not bad either.
  23. Just as it was Ben's when he was in charge.
  24. True. But they did whiff badly on Abreu, and then the blew the market out of the water on the next available Cuban player.
